Clan Discussion / Re: ~The Noob Clan~ very fun
« on: August 30, 2009, 11:13:10 AM »
Quote from: Dest's PM to another member asking for clan help

1. Wait until you are known better- If were you I would wait until I was here longer. You are rather new to these forums so not many people know you. You should wait until you build up somewhat of a reputation then you can try starting a clan again.

2. Gather up members before the clan page is started- You should gather up some members before making a clan page. It always looks better if you have yourself and 2-3 others in the clan already.

3. Have a server host ready- If you can host, then disregard this step. If you cant, find someone to host clan servers for you before starting the clan. It looks better if people can not just read the clan topic, but join the clan server to get more interested and get to know members.

4. Make a clan logo- While not entirely necessary, it makes you're clan look more appealing if it has a good logo. If you are not so great at making logos, ask another clan member, or even a person outside the clan if they can make one for you.

5. Plan out any builds/events/meetings ahead of time- You should know what you're clan is going to do before starting it. This will make the clan look more organized and appealing to people. A good plan makes a good clan.

6. Look off other clan topics for a good layout page- The organization and cleanliness of a forums clan page means everything. If the page looks sloppy it will make people think the clan itself is sloppy and people will not join. Three examples of good clan pages you can look off of is:

NWB- http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=50991.0
The Craftsmen- http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=73320.0
CART- http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=74167.0

You can also check out this topic:

That topic has every tip i've metioned here and more.

I knew what kind of clan this would be the second I saw the title. Another half-assed no effort stuff clan.

You are obviously incapable of making a clan. Wether you're lazy, a small child, or just plain handicapped, you have proven you don't have the mental capacity to make a clan if you think one sentence is a good clan.

Lock this monstrosity.

I still am not seeing the big deal with this "ego" thing. His build is good; is it a crime for him to say that?

Anyway, the build looks nice, I was just hoping that you had gotten more done on it since I last saw it.

I never said you can't say a build you make isn't good, but the egotistical way he said it got to me.

He can just say, "In my eyes this build is really good", yet instead of saying it that way he automatically assumes everyone is going to flip out and have an climax over it.

So can I get in on just my charming personality?

50% don't pass the test. :P

Im not a huge fan of this ego thing you have going on:

Here's some pictures for you to climax over.

A build alone may persuade some members to say yes but it takes more then that to get my vote. When I look at an application I don't only look at the build, but also how the applicant acts. Someone could be the best builder in Blockland but have a stuffty attitude and they still wouldn't get my vote. I'd rather have a decent builder with great attitude to work with then a great builder with a stuffty attitude.

So far you are passing half of my test, but failing the attitude portion, and that isn't going to cut it.

Imo, I don't really think it is anything special.

The main part I like about it is the floor effect, but once you get past that it is really just a detailed wall that has been duped. Don't get me wrong, it looks cool, but I just don't think it is as special as most people are going on about.

The floor effect was very clever and that I think is the main reason everyone thinks it is such a special build is mainly due to that reason.

Its an awesome picture and a nice looking build, but once you get past all the special effects it is not really much to flip out on as most of you seem to be doing.

[GSF] was a clan? I thought it was some cult or something.

It seems some people have the mentality that that is what it is.

Would there be an extra space in the name by any chance?

It could be possible, but it dosent look like it since the names are directly next to each other and I can't see a space.

Today it was brought to my attention that we are getting quite alot of people now putting "[GSF]" in there names.

Quote from: Kalph's ID list
7901 [GSF]bithead9
11132 [GSF]Dr.Gordon (Mägmët)
11788 [GSF]Zacman
And this is not all, I just noticed "[GSF]Ace 4045" and "[GSF] Ace 4995" on the IRC chat list, and there are even others beside all of them.

Apparently [GSF] is also considered a race to some people (The person he was chatting with wished to remain anonymous:

So if you think that other people putting [GSF] in there names is wrong apparently you are a tribal.

Aside from that, this also happened on Lord Tony's server today:

It puzzles me how two people could have the same name, but with different IDs, but that is beside the point.

Anyone else been noticing the increase in people with [GSF] in there names?
