I mean if it turns out he gets convicted with being a rapist then he goes to jail either way. Being a judge doesn't grant him immunity in the eyes of the law.
he's not being accused in court. he's testifying in front of congress, but there's no judge and there's no lawyers. i think it's clear enough that there's not enough evidence to convict here, so even if this for some reason did get in front of a judge he still wouldn't go to jail for a crime he might have committed.

it's okay to tell gross lies about people because I mean they're only trying to further their career and fulfill their life goals
and people are callin me disingenuous lmao

We've come to a point where a mere accusation can ruin someone's life.

But what happens when someone lies about being raped? Oh they get like a fine, no big deal.

People who falsely accuse others of rape need to be held accountable. A man went to jail for 30 loving years, the woman later admitted she lied. The woman maybe got like 1 year in jail. The loving guy had 30 years in jail.

There is an issue in this country that an accusation alone is enough to forget someone over, why do people risk this? Because the one who gets caught for making false accusations gets literally no repercussions.
this isn't some dichotomy. nobody has said that all accusations are right. if this guy were anything but a guy about to be confirmed to the supreme court, i'd agree that this accusation needs more evidence. but, lifetime appoints are garbage and so you need to take everything extremely seriously as indications of character. so the president should find a different guy, and make sure he didn't rape anyone in college this time.

You might be a rapist too, kiss your future and livelyhood goodbye.
you made this post already, i think. how many time am i gonna have to tell you

Eh hem, this is basically:
"You have nothing to worry about if you're innocent."
Damn, where have I heard this before
not raping people and having privacy from the government are different things, friend. try again again

The presumption of innocence is a human right (see: Article 11 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights). I would rather not imagine a world in which we return to the barbarism and kangaroo courts of the Salem Witch Trials. Until some sort of credible evidence is levied against him, Kavanaugh is innocent until proven otherwise beyond any reasonable doubt.
The presumption of innocence belongs in a court of law, not a job interview. I'll say it again, if he only might be a rapist, throw him out and get a different guy for your lifetime appointment to the supreme court. You really, really don't want to put the wrong person in that seat. He isn't going to jail. The consequence of him failing to get on the supreme court is that he doesn't get on the supreme court. The necessity for proof is lower because the result of his failure is nothing to him and is plenty for everyone else.
It's not very often that I see something so entirely sophistic and disingenuous that it prompts me to log in and break a two-month hiatus just to respond to it, but here we are.

Great way to start by establishing credibility and maturity. Well done.
frankly im just surprised you think credibility matters on this website at all. should i be taking my blockland forums debates more seriously, do you think?

I don't think that anyone other than Dr. Ford can answer that. What motivation did Crystal Mangum have to lie about three lacrosse players from Duke? What did she have to gain by embroiling herself in an absolute clusterforget of an investigation? Nobody knows for sure. Ford could be seeking attention, or money, or political clout. It's hard to tell until we see how things turn out and how Ford reacts in the coming months.
i believe my friend occam had a razor that had something to say about this

well there's a chance the dems can take the senate after midterms, in which case they can exert a significantly higher amount of pressure for Annoying Orange to put up a less partisan nominee. ofc if he doesn't, it's also possible for there to be a vacancy up through at least 2020
ah of course! but the blue wave is just a meme anyway, right? so what have all of these Very Angry Posters got to worry about anyway?

actually nah i was gonna be dismissive but im gonna make a real post now. here's a brain teaser: imagine a world in which kavakljhklh doesn't get appointed as a result of these allegations. the supreme court is still short a seat. the same president is gonna pick a different guy. the next pick is going to have all, or at least many, of the same qualities as kav because that's why kav was selected in the first place. there will be another right wing dude on the supreme court either way, and everyone knows it.

so, knowing that, what motivation does this woman have to lie? what has she to gain except to prevent her rapist from ascending to the most powerful court in the country? furthermore, what purpose do the rest of you guys have in defending kav? are you really enamored by his policy, or are you just defending him because he's on your team and you just don't care?

Im just so loving tired of dipstuffs like you

you're perfectly fine w/ someone being merely accused of rape and having their rep ruined w/ no evidence

It's disgusting honestly. You're paving the way for women to just accuse you of rape and have you removed from whatever position you have, cause forget it right? loving dumbass. forget me.
I just won't rape anyone and I'll be okay, actually.

Oh yeah, a job interview with HARSH accusations that could forget a man's entire career over, whether they are true or not. To top it off, you think it's alright to disqualify him because he "might be a rapist".

Well, by this logic, you might be RavenCroft using Dreams_of_Cheese's account, and therefore you should be banned and BOS for sharing accounts with RavenCroft. This isn't a court room, it's just a forum, so even if you might be RavenCroft you deserve the punishment.
try again, friend

this is a job interview you forgetin clowns. nobody is going to jail and so the burden of proof is much lower. if he only might be a rapist, that's still plenty to disqualify him. if you wanna put a guy on the highest court in the country, all you'd have to do is find another right wing ghoul who doesn't have that skeleton in his closet.

women are generally very skilled at the art of social deception and lying, in our culture anyways (see also the #metoo movement)
im just so loving tired
