I think it's cool. The fact that enough people are willing to donate money ($10m is impressive!) towards such a cause is quite astounding, and more or less for a good one at that.

Hope he's okay, he's helped me with programming multiple times. Very nice guy, too. :(

is codeacademy good at all or is there better alternatives because i seem to struggle to learn practical skills with it

codeacademy used to be good until they began putting paywalls everywhere and tried to make every lesson "hip" by putting justin beiber as topics to write programs about

the best way to learn how to program is usually textbooks, as a lot of these "learn to code sites" are incredibly stupid, usually pandering to certain audiences or making you pay out a stuffton of money for lackluster lessons

if you want some textbook recommendations, i recommend anything by Tony Gaddis, he makes some good "intro to" language books

see the thing about this is that everyone is taught differently, and some indentation styles look better for different situations

like .NET's allman style:

Code: [Select]
static void Main(string[] args)
{
    Console.WriteLine("Hello, world!");
    Console.Read();
}

looks great for functions and loops, as you see the conditions of the loop seperate from the body of the loop really quickly. however, it looks stupid when you do something like this:

Code: [Select]
try
{
...
}

where you have a scope floating below a keyword, where it looks like that keyword is out of nowhere, making it hard to read.

i like K&R styles better, in my opinion, but I'll admit when you have triple nested loops, it looks handicapped as hell. and convoluted. and hard to read.

edit: judging people's indentation styles for how you see fit usually ends up with you either looking stupid or stubborn when you refuse to listen to why some styles work better than others

the semicolon on the next line thing is from Haskell, and if you read the language it'd make much more sense why they do it

seems like a genuinely nice guy. even though i've never subscribed to him, i'd say he's more deserving of the award than a lot of the other scumbags on youtube - he worked his way up and got lucky along the way. he deserves it

Well then, thanks I guess.
Why hasn't anyone tried to change it tho

it just doesn't really matter, when furries are 10% of the blf and they don't really care to spread it to anyone else, they're likely not going to try and "convert" everyone to a furry

I don't really wanna cause drama, I came to meet people like me who were into the same game i'm into. I just didn't know until recently that blockland was super anti-furry like WOW

the thing about blockland is that it's not super anti-furry, it's just not super interested in hearing topics that others consider "weird." sure, we have a lot of furries on the forum, but like when talking to friends irl, it's best practice to keep it tame and not force it on others.

I'm not really sure what i'm supposed to be afraid of unless people are so anti-furry that they'll grab my IP and mess around with it or something, or i'll get banned or something. But i'm p sure something like that wouldn't be allowed in any way.
I'm not saying I'll be furry everywhere I go, just that i'll hold my tongue to prevent drama

nobody is going to grab your IP, and you're not going to get banned (unless you break the rules, of course). people might get upset at you on the drama board, but there's not much more that's going to happen than that (unless you go out of your way to specifically annoy people).

putting a '~' symbol and a heart isn't going to bug many people as long as you don't end every sentence with it.

thanks for joining the blf - have a good time! always good to see new users

why is master matthew in the lead. why is he even on the poll to begin with. he's just another me basically. started off rough, but getting better, and sure, he makes corny jokes/bad decisions, but don't we all?

because you seem like somebody who's trying to improve and be nice, he seems like the kind of guy who goes: "look how much i'm improving!" and then continues to be a senseless richard.

Off Topic / Re: I can guess your age
« on: November 20, 2016, 03:20:19 PM »
a mathematical approach:

basically this thing is telling you to guess a number (n) 1..10 where you plug it into this equation:

d = (50(2n + 5) + 1766) - y

where:
d = three-digit-number
y = birth year
n = number guessed

because of this, you can simplify the equation to:

d = 100n + 2016 - y

which is basically just saying that you're subtracting your birth year from 2016 (current year, given that you've already had your birthday) and then adding 100 times your original number to it.

for example, if i guessed 6, with my birth year being 2001, given that i already had my birthday this year, my result would be:

d = 100(6) + 2016 - 2001 or d = 615.

with this, we just have to subtract 100n from our three digit answer, d. since n will always be a multiple of 100, likewise, we can just forget the leading digit of d, which will yield our age.

well at least he didn't make a new forum account with an undertale name this time

imo making a new account trying to be "black" is worse

while i'm not the biggest fan of tony, i think rule 6 is to cover spam like: "asdfkjas;dfkjas;dflkjas;dfklajsd;fkasjdf;'sakdjf;askdgjhaf;hghasf" when somebody repeatedly posts it around the forum. tony might be saying complete nonsense, but it's not like we can't interpret it

44/100, gay white male

i feel priviledged though, i mean like i have a good life, good friends and all around i'm okay with things

just because i've been called cigarette before by kids in school doesn't mean i cry about it all night, it's almost like these kinds of tests want you to feel bad in society

Once for spamming, I think. I did the silly thing where you put your message all the way up to 144 pt and color it.
