Off Topic / iPhone - videos pause randomly?
« on: March 25, 2013, 04:13:58 PM »
So I'm trying to watch law abiding citizen and my movie keeps freezing. I've never dropped my phone, and this is the first time I've actually tried watching movies off of my phone. The movie will play for about five minutes, then pause. It's not buffering either, just a random pause.

General Discussion / Movie - We need bystanders! [NEW POLL v2] NEW SET
« on: March 24, 2013, 08:48:44 PM »
So a friend of mine showed me this youtube video a while ago, and I told him we could make a BL version of the video.  To see the video, I provided a link for your viewing pleasure: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ejM_1MJN4PY

I can easily make the elevator, events to make our pink-man (aka Prozy) flip out, and I can aquire the song from the video. However, what I need is:

• a camera man
• 8+ different bystanders (you literally walk in the elevator and try as HARD as possible not to touch him, except for one group, they'll spazz out wth him at the very end.)

If you would like to participate in the movie shoot, please leave a sign-up in the following format:

Quote
Name - your IN-GAME name.
BL_ID - the ID that you will be using to connect to the server
Prior experience with video-shooting - List any videos you've been in, IRL or by videogame
Time zone - explains itself. Just so I know when your available.

The video shoot is planned for:
SUNDAY, MARCH 31, 2013
@1:00pm EST

The shooting time is subject to change.

Poll #1 -
3/24/13 - 3/26/13

just make him do whatever comes to mind.       3 (25%)
Total Voters: 12

Help / Polarity keeps changing?
« on: March 22, 2013, 09:19:26 PM »
So whenever I host a server, Ill do some work with relays. They work, everything is functional, I save and shutdown.

Next day, I host again, load the save, all bricks are present, all events accounted for... But for whatever reason, my polarities will flip-flop? East is now West, and vice versa. I haven't had this problem with N/S, but I need all four directions to be functional.

I'm gonna see if it repeats itself tomorrow (Saturday). If it does, I'll keep an eye on this. If it doesn't I'll see about locking this. If it doesn't work, Ill post a console log.

Creativity / A Not-So-Short-Story : The Forgotten Man
« on: March 20, 2013, 10:01:04 PM »
A friend of mine wrote this short-story, that Thorfin26 and myself edited with his approval. After reading over it, I figured I should post it (I have the author's permission, he just doesn't wanna post it himself for various reasons.) The story is pretty long, so grab a cup of joe, a warm blanket and get ready for a pretty damn good read.

THE FORGOTTEN MAN
TITLE PENDING

A tale of  boy frozen in time, with his clingy roommate.

“Steven! Steven! Get up damnit!” Kiri’s voice could’ve stirred a dead boar back to life. She had a particularly devilish way of going through puberty, where her voice seemed to sound like nails against a chalkboard when she screamed. “God damnit Steven, get the forget up! I’m not gonna be late ‘cause you can’t drag your sorry ass out of bed!” She did this every morning, this was around the point she tore the sheets off my bed. When she did that it kinda made me happy though, reminded me I am still here. “You son of a-” I interrupted her before mother could intervene for cursing, “I’m going, I’m going...” “Damn right you’re going Steven, today is the first day we go to the same school... well college rather. Isn’t it exciting? We get to go to college for the rest of our high school years!” I didn’t see the whole excitement in going. It was still school , I still got to learn, and that was about all that mattered to me.

Kiri usually got up early to prepare for school since she took so long. At my benefit it left the bathroom filled with steam, warm and smelling of female maintenance products. I rushed to the bathroom to take my shower and slammed the door behind me in an attempt to conserve time. I quickly stripped while turning the shower head on and fell on my face, cutting my nose. “Steven!” I jumped and hit my head against the cupboard next to the toilet bruising my forehead. I screeched realising Kiri was in the bathroom with me, “Kiri what are you doing in here? You know you can’t be in here at the same time as me Kiri!” She darted out of the bathroom with tears in her eyes. I felt bad about making her cry, but she did scare the stuff out of me. When I finished washing myself off in the shower I ran to the dining room where Kiri had two bowls of cereal. “I’m very sorry Steven. Could you ever forgive me?” I looked at her and all I could do was feel guilt and sadness, for one of the first times in my life. We’ve only been living together for around a month and haven’t known each other much longer. “Don’t worry Kiri, it was my fault for being in such an irrational hurry.” That may have been a lie but I meant every ounce of it. “Oh Steven!” She began to cry again, but then she hugged me after putting the cereal bowls down on the dining room table.

“Whoa!” Kiri stared at the college as if it were largest diamond in the world. “Its not that big a deal, we’ll probably see plenty of things like it later in life Kiri.” She ignored me as usual, “Nonsense! Look at it, it is absolutely magnificent, I mean just take a look at the way the columns curve into the arc of the roof, and the rivets span into the supports of the ceiling.” Its normal for her to go on about architecture, she had a fascination for it really, but she never could get good enough at math to be an architect, about all she could do was set up a problem, she always needed a calculator. That didn’t matter though, since most people didn’t do the math anyways, they had all the computers do it.

We walked into the class quite a bit early, or at least I suspecting seeing the obvious absence in students, then to my surprise, the professor’s voice rang out across the room, “Please children have a seat, you are my only students for these next two years, and you will do well to exceed and set expectations.” Keeping my cool would have been easy, but then Kiri did something really stupid. Kiri lunged forward over two sets of seats, “What do you you mean set expectations? Just ‘cause we can do something doesn’t mean you should expect others to do it.” In a chilling effect, the professor simply chuckled just as loud as Kiri’s screeches. “Do not worry for them my child, they have undergone the same tests as you and weren’t far behind on scores. You should wait for one to finish before judging their intentions and goals.” I thought at that moment that he was simply eccentric, but soon I would realise why he acted this way. The truth was actually quite plain and visible, quite enough we would tell of it day after day in casual conversations and sometimes even professional ones. Our lives were the first of a new generation of leaders. We were the beginning of a new era, one that would rise from the ashes of our ancestors. It was like the beauty of a rainbow that followed a storm who destroyed an entire city.

Folks, that's not even 1/10th of the true story itself. Still interested? Read more here: The Forgotten Man

Off Topic / West Borough Baptist Church - Neighbors!
« on: March 19, 2013, 09:52:28 PM »
I was on funny junk...

http://news.msn.com/us/rainbow-flag-painted-on-house-across-from-westboro-baptist-church

Quote
A non-profit has bought a house across from the anti-gay church and turned it into a gay-rights center, complete with a rainbow flag.

The Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kan., might have finally met its match.

The church, which is known for its extreme ideologies and anti-gay views, now has a neighbor swathed in the rainbow colors of the gay pride flag.

Non-profit Planting Peace bought a house across from the church – notorious for its "God hates cigarettes" and "God hates America" slogans – and decided to turn it into a gay rights center, according to Gawker.com.

The house – which has been named "Equality House" – even has a pride flag flying from a 30-foot pole.

This Twitter video gives a good idea of the proximity of the house to the church.

Planting Peace has been documenting the painting on its Facebook page, and uploaded pictures of the house after the painting was completed Tuesday to show off the finished product.

Judging from the responses they have received so far, most people like the bright colors.

According to messages posted on Facebook by Planting Peace, Westboro Baptist Church founder Fred Phelps' daughter, Shirley, also likes the colors.

"Shirley Phelps of the Westboro Baptist Church just waved & said she loved the colors... So we all blew her kisses," wrote Planting Peace.

Some said that the church would likely file a lawsuit against Planting Peace, though it wasn't clear what the pretext would be.

But Planting Peace posted a message around 6:30 p.m. EST saying that the City of Topeka released a statement saying that the house had not violated any city ordinances.

"The Equality House is here to stay," it wrote.

Planting Peace did not immediately return a request for comment from MSN.

According to an online fundraiser for Equality House, the center hopes to serve as a "symbol of equality, peace and positive change."

It will serve as the resource center for all Planting Peace equality and anti-bullying initiatives.

Past initiatives of the organization include building orphanages in Haiti and India as well as de-worming children in Guatemala.

Planting Peace's founder, Aaron Jackson, told the Kansas City Fox affiliate that a small team of volunteers had painted the house.

"People keep coming out, honking horns, taking pictures,” he said. “There has been no negative response."

Local artist Wendy Prentice volunteered as the project's "color connoisseur."

Jackson reportedly stumbled on the location of Westboro Baptist Church while surfing on Google Earth.

He found a "For Sale" sign sitting on a house across from it and immediately decided to buy the house and paint it with the colors of the pride flag.

This is great stuff :cookieMonster:

Off Topic / Have you ever: Walked in on research
« on: March 11, 2013, 11:53:26 PM »
So it's 11:47, I'm doing last minute school work, finishing up documents, listening to music, procrastinating with clever bot. Being stupid. The printer stopped working for some reason, so I started toying with cables. Nothing. So I start walking out into my living room, where my dad is. He isn't aware that I'm still awake, and he has the TV on. I, fairly audibly, say "Daaad?"

No response. I come around the corner, allowing me a full view of the living room. He has headphones on, and hes facing away from me, with his tablet on the couch roughly a foot away from his face.

2 girls 1 guy, didn't even have to look that hard to tell it was research. My mom is out of country until Thursday, and he tried rushing me and my little brother off to bed. Earlier, when I was still up, he got upset and asked "WHY ARE YOU STILL UP??" I had school work and I have to meet certain conditions to take medication of mine.

I'm so full of wot I refuse to walk in there and ask him to fix the printer but I need to print these 8 pages loving cables aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
I've nothing against research nor him utilizing it, however he has a room all to himself, and people sit on those couches. Those $700 couches that my mom spent months finding. That if there is a single spot left, we are ALL dead.

So yeah this is weird, I'm somewhat uncomfortable and my printer is borked. Help me forums

/title. I'm making a play for my group in our English class, and it's based off of the Crucible. I need 11 commandments, because the 12th has to be adultery UNLESS someone who has read the Crucible can think of a humorous twist (if that is the case, chapter 2, I can post the 4 page word document if you need it.)

(I currently have six from in-class today, but I need to work on puppets and I'm not gonna have a lot of time to write. That, and I figure why not incorporate the forums ;) )

Post your funnies!

Here's the ones I've always liked that my dad has told me over time.

•A burglar breaks into a house. He sees a CD player that he wants so he takes it. Then he hears a voice 'JESUS is watching you'. He looks around with his flashlight wandering 'What The HELL Was That?'. He spots some $ on a table and takes it......Once again he hears a voice ' JESUS is watching you'. He hides in a corner trying to find where the voice came from. He spots a birdcage with a parrot in it! He goes over and asks ' Was that your voice?'. It said 'YES'. He then says 'What's your name?'. It says 'MOSES'. The burglar says ' What kind of person names his bird moses??' The parrot replys 'THE SAME PERSON THAT NAMES HIS ROTWEILER 'JESUS'.

•A woman was standing in a crowded lift of the hotel she was staying in. When a man got in and accidentally elbowed her in the breast. The man said, 'I'm sorry! But if your heart is as soft as your tit, you'll forgive me.' so the woman replies, 'If you richard is as hard as your elbow then I am staying in room 113.'

•A young couple gets married, and the groom asks his bride if he can have a dresser drawer of his own that she will never open. The bride agrees. After 30 years of marriage, she notices that his drawer has been left open. She peeks inside and sees 3 golf balls and $1,000.

She confronts her husband and asks for an explanation. He explains 'Every time I was unfaithful to you, I put a golf ball in the drawer.' She figures 3 times in 30 years isn't bad and asks 'But what about the $1,000?' He replied 'Whenever I got a dozen golf balls, I sold them'

•A man lay sprawled across three entire seats in the posh theatre. When the usher came by and noticed this, he whispered to the man, 'Sorry, sir, but you're only allowed one seat.' The man groaned but didn't budge. The usher became impatient. 'Sir, if you don't get up from there I'm going to have to call the manager.' Again, the man just groaned, which infuriated the usher who turned and marched briskly back up the aisle in search of his manager.

In a few moments, both the usher and the manager returned and stood over the man. Together the two of them tried repeatedly to move him, but with no success. Finally, they summoned the police. The cop surveyed the situation briefly then asked, 'All right buddy, what's your name?' 'Sam,' the man moaned. 'Where ya from, Sam?' With pain in his voice Sam replied 'The balcony.'

•A soldier was given the job of hunting for buffalo. To help him, he hired an Indian Scout. The two of them set off on their journey to find buffalo. After riding awhile, the Indian gets off his horse, puts his ear to the ground and says 'Humm, buffalo come'. The soldier scans the area with his binoculars, but sees nothing. He is confused and says to the Indian, 'I do not see anything, how do you know buffalo come'? and the Indian replies, 'ear sticky'.

Golly these jokes are horrible. Hopefully I can trust the forums to be funnier than myself.

Off Topic / Blockland / Forums; Do They Mix?
« on: March 02, 2013, 10:11:48 PM »
As my knowledge of these forums has grown, I've grown to know some forumers better than others. I believe, this case anyways, is due to the fact that only certain forumers traffic the other sub-forums. Whenever I post a gallery topic, it receives anywhere from five to 100 posts, depending on the size, quality of the build and whether or not I'm asking for suggestions. But even then, you don't see gallery getting a lot of lovin', nor does creativity.

Am I saying nobody ever posts there? No. But if you look at the current stats between sub-forums, and I'll just grab the ones I use;

General Discussion - 387,536
Gallery - 245,910
Off Topic - 2,594,811
Games - 717,401
Creativity - 171,256
Drama - 476,823

The fact that DRAMA has more posts than general discussion OR Gallery + Creativity COMBINED (for those of you lazy folk, that's approx ~416k VS ~476k, a 60k post difference) is sort of depressing. Can we really argue MORE than we can display our talents and show off our works? Maybe I'm going over-board. Maybe I speak for a lot of people. Maybe I speak for myself.
