Suggestions & Requests / Brick creation guide
« on: December 07, 2014, 05:07:34 PM »
AFAIK, there exists no guide for how to create a brick. Why is this?

Someone should really create something that goes over the basics of brick creation. I've tried making bricks before, and utterly failed. There's essentially no help to be found on this forum that I've found regarding it...

Off Topic / how to backup extra drive in windows 8
« on: December 03, 2014, 09:10:30 PM »
Every time I try to simply copy the files to my external drive the progress essentially comes to a halt around 12-13%.

How should I copy this extra drive?

Off Topic / Might buy a new mouse today... Suggestions?
« on: December 01, 2014, 03:53:34 PM »
I have around $30, but I'd like to spend around $20. Normally it'd be 100% bad mice in that price range, but it's Cyber Monday.... so Maybe I can find a good deal. Any suggestions?

I want at least 2 programmable buttons, but more would be nice.

I was looking at these, but they're by little known companies, which make me a bit hesitant to trust them, even if they have good reviews.

General Discussion / Improved load times on SSD
« on: November 28, 2014, 05:10:18 PM »
Will blockland load faster in singleplayer and multiplayer if it's on an SSD opposed to a regular 7200 RPM HDD?

I'd think it would, because it's retrieveing cached information unless it's downloading stuff.

Off Topic / Smartwatches
« on: November 21, 2014, 09:53:52 PM »
Do you guys think smartwatches are worth it?

I want to get one, but I can't decide which one.

There's this; http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IGJ67R2/ref=twister_B00OTK7WQM?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

Or this; http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KX828DG/ref=twister_B00I9XEF9C?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

The martian is a bit better looking, but both are meh.

Then there's this, which is $199. I'd rather not spend as much as I spent on my phone for my watch.

Same goes with the Android Wear watches; they're awfully expensive.

Anyone have any of these/have experience with these? If not, do you see yourself getting a smartwatch?

/discuss smartwatches, I guess

These two women are camping in front of Best Buy for Black Friday. They started 22 days before black friday. They're taking turns waiting in line.

Here's the article.

Gosh, if they would go get a job, they could make 20 times whatever little amount of cash they're going to save by doing this. It's stupid.

Off Topic / Tips to stay warm?
« on: November 03, 2014, 01:21:29 PM »
I hate the cold, so I currently have a hat on, my hood on, two blankets, slippers, two pairs of socks (one wool), my pants tucked into my socks, etc. I look really strange, but w/e.

I had the idea to turn my desktop so that the exhaust points at my feet, since warm air comes out of those holes. I opened blender and have a couple high-poly cubes in it, and when I want to up the heat it's producing, I'll switch to that and rotate it around for minute (there's enough faces that it lags really badly when I do that).

I wish someone would print a bunch of stuff; there's a big printer directly behind where I sit, and when it prints, it blows warm air on me. :P

What creative ideas do you have to stay warm?

So yah. Basically, there are certain states that have passed laws making it illegal for Tesla to sell cars there, except online. They say that in order to sell cars through stores, Tesla has to sell through "franchised dealers." These laws are being pushed by big car companies like GM, without them explicitly mentioning Tesla.

Tesla has been selling cars extremely well lately, and it's starting to hurt and put pressure on car companies, hence why they're doing this.

http://www.freep.com/story/money/cars/general-motors/2014/10/17/michigan-verge-banning-tesla-stores/17386251/

There's some good discussion on the topic (as well as a chart that shows were Tesla can and cannot sell through stores) here: vvvvv
http://www.teslamotors.com/sv_SE/forum/forums/where-can-tesla-sell-cars

So yah, you can still buy a car online, but you can't buy it at a store in certain states. Anyone else think it's ridiculous that this is happening, and that big car companies have the power to do this?

So for lack of a better costume, I've decided to go to my friends halloween party as a conspiracty theorist. I'm going to bring an unhackable old nokia cellphone and a tinfoil hat.

What else should I bring that would fit a conspiracy theorist?

Gallery / House and Gazebo
« on: October 12, 2014, 03:45:10 PM »
Here's a house I made on my house building server.

Here's a gazebo that was supposed to be for the spawn, but I can't figure out how to make everyone spawn there. -_-

Feel free to rate x/10 for both, although the house has no interior yet.

Off Topic / Knee Football
« on: October 12, 2014, 12:22:38 AM »
So, uh, blogland I guess.

On Wednesday night, I went to my friends' youth group. It was a football game that night, guys vs girls. Girls won, 7-0.

But wait, there's more. They just barely won, after getting a lucky break past our defense. There were also 3-4 girls for every guy there (15-20 guys, and 45-60 girls). And, all the guys had to play on their knees, whereas the girls were standing up regularly.

Of course we were told by the girls that they "dominated" us, lol.

Was a lot of fun, but my knees both have big scabs and I was sore for a couple days after.

If you ever get the chance, you should totally try it.
