As Pie said that put them under the impression that you should be paid for doing something, kids need to learn early that you can't expect to always receive something for helping. Yeah you can pay them, but don't do it for everything they do.

I don't recall saying parents should pay their children for everything

I do recall saying parents should use chores as an example of how to earn and save money

It actually lowers your authority. Unless you have something to give them, they won't do it. My parents make me do chores all the time without giving me stuff but when I acomplish something special for me, them, my sister, my brother or any random starfish in general, they give me a reward.

If that's the result of teaching them to work for their money, you've taught them completely wrong.

Really you shouldn't have to pay your child to do chores, they need to just do them.

Chores are the best way you can teach your children about the principles of earning, saving and spending money. Doing so does not negate the idea that they should listen to you, or authority in general.

besides i'm not saying he shouldn't go to uni. I'm saying he should make a concerted effort to start now. If he doesn't have the capacity, he's going to struggle at university just the same.

Just make sure you approach it right

Make it clear to them that this is a huge goal for you and that you're willing to work very hard to achieve it. Don't make it about the ps4, they might not like that. Shift it from "buying a ps4" to "i have a very clear goal and want to learn a life lesson by working hard to achieve it"

After all that, though, why is it that no one else seems to report exploits? I cannot be the only one discovering & reporting them. Is everyone else afraid to? I realize I've been demoted from Admin multiple times because of these exploits, but because of these exploits being realized and eventually fixed it helps the server in the long run.

Why are you trying to make yourself out the hero? Making exploits apparent through exploiting them isn't the way to go about things
