I gear up and hop into my Hornet, doing a quick preflight check while the Hornet is being armed.
I taxi out to the runway.
"Mjolnir 1-2, you are cleared for takeoff.
"Got it Tower, taking off now." I push the throttle forward and the Hornet roars along the runway as I take off.

Have the new aircraft been delivered yet?
I read South Aesthian town's local newspaper on my tablet, which talks about the war along with local matters. I guess it's comforting to know that your hometown still exists.

L: Our division just got transferred further North, our guys aren't having it.
S: Really? I thought logistics was all about staying away from the action.
L: We have a combat regiment attached to our unit, it's part of a task force- that and they aren't happy about the cold.
S: Oh.
L: Well, I guess we might be seeing you soon, stay safe.
L has disconnected from the session.
I hop down from the wing of my Hornet and turn off the tablet, placing it on the folding table in the hangar, next to my flight bag. The door slammed shut behind me as I stepped out onto the tarmac outside of the squadron hangar, leaning against the metallic wall of the hangar.
