the national socialists were far worse in every single regardobviously. that doesn't mean that the confederates weren't bad, or that it's worth putting (or keeping) up statues of them. they did and represent horrible things, yet they're pictured as brave heroes because the people who put them up were still butthurt that they couldn't own people anymore.

people were forcibly taken from their homes, separated from their families, forced to do hard labor for no pay, subject to physical and psychological torture whether they complied or not, and treated as property. the big difference is they didn't shove them into gas chambers. otherwise?

one group was white nationalists, the other was german nationalists. Both committed crimes against humanity. The Confederates made themselves look bad.
