Off Topic / Computer Audio Question
« on: February 08, 2010, 04:58:53 PM »
This question is aimed at people who know what the forget they're talking about when they talk about computers.

I have this headset.
And these speakers.
I don't know if these can handle bass or not at higher levels than normal.

What I want is to be able to control the bass, treble and stuff like that for audio from my desktop computer.
What would I get? A bass speaker? A sound card? I have no idea what when it comes to audio stuff like this.

This is the face I made when I tried to simply copy a few <500 kb files onto my Sony Ericsson Z525.

It's a piece of stuff phone with stuffty default...well...stuff. So I went on an adventure to find ways of customizing it without going over board expensively. Found a USB cable. $20? forget no. Found same thing for $1 and free shipping on Amazon. Bought it, got it, used it. Worked perfectly. Things went tra-la-la.

Flash forward approx. 7 months to now. I reinstalled the PC Suite manager with the same crap, only on Windows 7.
For some stuffforget reason it's being an ass to me. I can copy the pictures and movies I had off of there just fine (except the phone decided to be an ass and forget up the data of the pictures copied onto my computer). It was fine, it was showing up as "Connected" and I could access files, but I couldn't ADD files in.

So I decide to run this update service crap, hoping it'd do SOME good. Nope. It repeatedly disables/re-enables all my USB devices randomly for some stupid-ass reason. What a bunch of bullstuff. Did nothing and I backed up stuff just to waste time.

Even now it still gives me bullstuff. It's like it just hates me now. See the image I attached to understand what I'm talking about.

I'm fed up with this chicken-stuff-bullstuff. I can't loving wait till I graduate for a phone that doesn't suck richards. Oh, and here's a picture of my phone.

Off Topic / Need good free anti-malware.
« on: December 27, 2009, 10:29:14 PM »
AVG Free has failed me. It let through an attack and it's being cleaned by KIS trial as I speak.

I need a new free anti-malware program. I don't want it to force updates on me like a national socialist, not use a lot of system resources (even though I will only be running it or having it open when I scan stuff), and needs to be effective at its job.

In list form;
  • Free
  • Effective
  • No restarts required when updating
  • Can't be hogging up CPU/RAM
  • Needs to be at least Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware
  • Can't be AVG Free

Recommendations? Go.

Girls: You need to make sure your boobs are intact while using Windows Live essential programs.

EDIT: Also, Windows 7/Windows Live "essentials" movie maker is a piece of stuff.

Off Topic / Computer randomly locking up/Help pick an upgrade
« on: December 17, 2009, 03:39:47 PM »
For some unknown reason my computer keeps freezing up and requiring a restart. I already did a virus scan and it's all clean.

I suspect RAM troubles but there's no blue screen. It's been happening ever since I first got a Blue Screen back earlier this month, except that was graphics overheating.

Now it just locks up on simple things, even web browsing.

Specs:
Core 2 Duo E7300 2.66 GHz
4GB RAM (two 1GB sticks running at 667 MHz and one 2GB stick running at 800 MHz, arranged in regular Dual Channel style properly)
EVGA Nvidia GeForce 9800GT 512 MB
Antec EarthWatts 650w PSU
GIGABYTE EP43-DS3L

I already took out the 2GB Corsair 800 MHz stick, it seems to be working good so far.
I'll hope to get it replaced but I want to run this by some people who know computers here and see if anyone can aid in assistance.

I saw this on steam one day and I was curious. It has BnW2-ish graphics which is good, but I'm curious about the actual gameplay.

Anyone actually have it and willing to give a review?

This question goes out to anyone who knows Latin, and I mean actually KNOWS Latin, not "Oh I just started taking lessons at www.getlatin4free.com!" or "I just switched to that class and I don't even pay attention but let me answer anyway".

What is the difference between the Nominitive and Accusitive cases in Latin? Normally I'd look this up in my notes but it's in my notebook, and the teacher is grading them because we just turned in Chapter 7 vocabulary today.

I know Accusitive is for direct object nouns ending in -am, -em or -um. But what are Nominitive case nouns for?

I don't know about you, but when I go to parties (IF you go to parties) and when I hear this song the party pirate in me just explodes in happiness because its awesome. Oh and it makes girls grind for some reason.

It works perfectly in Blockland (Unless you get right up in the music brick in which it'll hurt your ears). It's under 30 seconds, and under 512kb.

The actual song.

Drama / Jcat21/Mail Man/Etc. homoloveual/'unbannable' names
« on: November 25, 2009, 10:02:49 PM »
I find it hard to see what people don't understand about one of the rules in my server.

All bans are permanent and final. We can't help it if you're an idiot.

Somehow everyone ignores this rule and goes ahead and whines to me on IRC begging to be unbanned from my server.

Among one of them is Jcat21 and his other names, seen here. (ID 16390)
Let me grab a few special highlights.
Quote
Mail Man    (Special note: He later used this name to escape a ban as I was busy eventing.)

He also tried to threaten me with a drama thread, but like every time someone tries to use a drama topic as a weapon it makes them sound like a smug asshat.
Attached are pictures of the IRC conversation.
