General Discussion / Re: Blockland for linux?
« on: December 30, 2012, 01:45:18 PM »
I don't see why Badspot doesn't port it. He supports OSX which is Unix, generally libraries match up pretty well between the two. Plus, Torque comes with native Linux support; so the only thing he'd have to add it to is any systems he made himself.

I don't know if you're trying to be ironic or if you're just dumb, but you look handicapped using "<" when ">" is what the entire rest of the planet uses for greentext stories.

I know kanji =/= formal, but 9.9/10 times, kawaii by itself will be in hiragana. Kawaii is a very casual/informal word, so nobody ever uses it in kanji, you just don't use it like that. If you were IMing a Japanese person and you used kawaii in kanji, they'd laugh at you and say "流石外人ですね." However, if you were using kawaii as in 可愛がる, which can be used in formal situations, it would be in kanji.

Japanese have rule breakers (just like English) all the time and kawaii is one of them. It's really weird trying to say "Ka-aii" (you'd have to say it with two long vowel sounds in a row, can't pronounce it like 会), so they threw a W in there. That sort of pronunciation shows up in a lot of other places.
Kawaigaru doesn't mean 'cute', it's a verb and it means to adore. Also, I don't see what makes you the resident authority on Japanese. Saying they'd call me a foreigner really doesn't back up or prove your point, I could say they'd call you dumb for not using kanji and it wouldn't make me any more or less correct. Also, Kaaii isn't hard to pronounce.

Modification Help / Re: Difference between VB.NET, C#, C++, TorqueScript
« on: December 30, 2012, 01:31:01 PM »
C# is a modified version of Java, which is a modified version of C++.
What? I think you have no idea what you're talking about. Java has utterly no relation to C++ besides syntaxical similarities.

.NET is (I believe) Libraries of code, used by most programs running any of Microsoft's OS's. It provides common functionality for those applications to run.
Yes, but he asked what VB.NET is, not .NET. VB.NET is a language.

Torquescript is a scripting language, unlike C#, Java, And C++, which are programming langauges.
The differences are subtle, and I need to refresh myself on the specifics. But I dislike torque, if that means anything.
Scripting languages are interpreted languages that are parsed in real time by a program instead of being compiled into a program themself.

The only difference between VB.NET and C# is syntax.
That isn't true whatsoever.

You can make it twice as efficient by only dividing by numbers less than half. If a number is more than half than it has to be multiplied by something between 1 and 2 to be equal to itself, which automatically makes it not a factor of the tested number.

loving cool, smf reformats the page count lay out to be right to left if you use arabic
I hate to say Kalphiter is right, but he is. It's not SMF, it's just HTML's fault.

False, people would think you're stupid if you wrote kawaii in kanji. It's too formal for a word used informally.
Kanji isn't used in only formal situations, and that is the proper way to write kawaii. If you look at the actual kanji, it would read kaaii, but since that's the proper way of writing it even google translate will decode it properly to kawaii -> cute.

General Discussion / Re: My parents are skeptical about me hosting.
« on: December 29, 2012, 04:55:51 PM »
Port forwarding is no more dangerous than loading a website. All internet connections go through a socket which is bound to a port. The difference between connecting to a server and hosting a server is that you have to open up a spot on your computer for them to connect to. When this port has no socket bound to it, no connections will be able to go through. It is impossible to be hacked by forwarding ports for Blockland.

Furthermore, it is not required to host servers. UPnP support was added a while ago. Enable that on your router.

Why do I torture myself by reading every single comment people make in Japanese, it's been a while so I have to consider each character before realizing what sound it makes.

Its like stocking but in Arabic

かわいい~
It would be written 可愛い~

147
My exact thoughts.

Come on people, use logic.
Well, I knew why it happened, I just said that because it seemed weird to post a picture alone.

I like how you broke the forum.

EDIT: stop explaining it to me, handicaps. I know why it flipped it.

You could make a laptop larger, the only thing a laptop has to have to be a laptop is an attached monitor and the ability to be movable.

You cannot fit a 690 GTX in any type of laptop case. These cards are bigger than you think.
