Looking for a really popular server with good moderation and community
http://www.minecraftforum.net/forum/31-servers/
Search through here, plenty of up and running and new servers to look at.

To be honest there isn't really any time period the game is set in. You can't give one to a game like this.

On the subject of skins, it's supposed to be your "avatar", like your avatar on the forums. It doesn't ever have to fit any style or anything. It just represents you.

Slime in poll is borken
Fixed.
PM me for these issues. Don't post here. I won't see it. I get an email when I get PMs, so there is a 100% guarantee I will see it.

Should go from right to left so you can read it as it comes.
I'd have to flip the characters to have them moon walk still, but I kinda liked it going left to right.
Here's it going right to left:

Might add some more characters in it later.
Also, I can make some basic walking animations for anyone if you send me a picture of your character. Some requests might take longer than others if I don't have that exact clothing imported.

Might wanna add ocelots/cats as well before the votes start flying in

Ghast master race
Ooohhh, damnit. You're right. Let me lock the poll and add them before votes start coming in.
Edit: Added.

At lunch I went to the computer lab and like 10 people were playing Minecraft. All of them pirated it.
Teach 'em a lesson. Punch them in the richard!

... I mean, tell them to buy it. If they really can't afford it however, Notch has said himself has told people to pirate it instead of buying it if you legitimately need to spend money on other things. God damned economy, not letting people buy Minecraft!

68
yep, need new opinions!
Alright, sure. It needs a fresh reset every once in a while anyways. Now's as good as a time as ever, with an extra mob to the list.

69
make another poll!
Hm? What do you mean? Are you asking me to reset the poll?

70
HEY.
where is the town golem thing in the poll.
Ask and ye shall recieve!

In the future, however, if you have any serious suggestions for changes in the thread, please PM me. I will see these 100% of the time rather than a small chance of seeing a single post in one of my threads. I'll even get a nice little email so I can reply almost immediately! Oh my!

There's a reason this is probably the only successful Java-based game ever.
Really, really untrue in my eyes. I'm not going to point out a bunch of successful Java games but every single Android game is coded in Java, all of the Android applications go through android's Dalvik virtual machine for runtime.

But I'm sure there has also be plenty of successful Java games other than Minecraft. Runescape is one of the first games that comes to mind, although it may not be the best example it is sure as hell extremely successful. The Dan Ball games, like the powder toy, are also coded in Java however they're not really game games, more of sandboxes or tools.

Edit: Oh! And Puzzle Pirates is in Java, if I recall correctly. This was also pretty successful.

The amount of content produced in such a short amount of time for Terraria is quite amazing compared to Minecraft. They've released very large, content filled, fulfilling updates which actually improve the game a lot and add more things to do. However, these are two people working on one game in their spare time, not a full time company who's working on multiple projects and most likely working very hard. Another thing to note, is that Terraria is coded in C# and is also 2D, so the effort required to add content may not be as equal to adding content into Minecraft, however, that is debatable depending on the coder's proficiency with the language.

Just my thoughts on the subject, that's all. I for one really have enjoyed the Terraria updates. They are very content packed.

Niiice. I'm assuming this is going with your build that you made a few months ago?
Yup. My old HD 5770 just isn't quite preforming as well as it used to.
