Not just Slayer, but any add-on that uses Greek2Me's repository. Someone could upload a supposed "update" and it have broken or backdoor code without the user's immediate knowledge.

Any add-on could easily have it's own updating system, that doesn't really matter. Having a centralized place for updates is just more user friendly.

I must've described it wrong, Even if it replaces the default brick textures in servers it will also override from seeing custom ones in other people's servers aswell.
No, as those have a different hash and blockland will display the custom ones correctly.

Isn't the alpha channel used for reflectance/gloss/whatever?

Also note that the way OP described will only replace the default brick textures in servers. If you join a server with custom ones you'll see those instead.

I think v.7 or v.2.0 of blender supports DTS exporting.
There's an exporter for the old version 2.49. However, blender version 2.49 is garbage compared to the current one...

i don't think there's any kind of trick that can be done to simulate the grapple rope curving around objects in the way, is there?

You could to this in theory but detecting the edge would be horribly inefficient

Just use a load of bricks noone else has. When you're done building, delete the uinames from the brick datablocks.

Siba's the only one i know that made scripts for Blender, he only made an importer for BLB and BLS files though

I don't know if he would be able to make a script to import/export DTS
The dts format is a lot more complicated than blbs.

i feel like i'm missing a joke here
Noone in this community works with blender scripts as far as I know, and no other game still uses this file format. So it's very unlikely for anything to happen.
