Off Topic / Re: C (Programming)

C# is slower because it's an incredibly high-level programming language, which is a good thing every way you reasonably look at it.
Honestly, if they make C++ look and feel more like C#, which should be doable, I think a lot of the complaints about C++ being a pain in the ass would go away.  Honestly, I do prefer C# because it is incredibly easy to use, and has a number of really nice tools.  If it allowed the programmer to manage the memory, it would probably have everything it needed.  It's a shame, really.

Just because the hardware runs faster doesn't mean we should forsake efficiency.

Not really, lol. It all boils down to what the place uses. There isn't really much of a point to using C++/assembly nowadays other than writing drivers.
C++ is still the fastest thing around, and in the games industry, is still very heavily used.  C# has a place, but until it gets faster, it won't be dominant.  And I already mentioned that they don't use assembly.  My point is that knowing it makes you a better programmer because it teaches you how the hardware does things, which can allow for you to write better code.  Regardless of what is used, it's still good to understand the basics.

Python is useless.
I've seen numerous companies ask for both Python and Ruby on resumes.  C++ is obviously a must.  Java is good to know, and C# is probably a good idea.  Some Assembly doesn't hurt either.  Though it's basically dead as well, it shows an understanding of how the hardware works, which is obviously valuable.

What happened to all the other cool people?  You know, from like 4 or 5 years ago.

Off Topic / Re: Are my parents seriously retarted?!
« on: April 10, 2011, 10:39:32 AM »
If you`re 14 and you want to commit Self Delete, that's sad. You have nothing to be depressed about. The reason your mom says she failed as a parent is because you're having thoughts of Self Delete! It's your fault! So, in the minutes before committing sucide, think of the people who loved you.
^Someone who has never had anything bad happen to him.^  Depression has actually been show to not only be psychological, but chemical, and somewhat hereditary.  Juts going to say though, telling your parents was dumb.  Parents get really stupid when they feel like they failed as parents.  At this point though, you may as well just talk to them again when they've calmed down.  Fun fact: most people who act on suicidal urges are actually coming out of their depression.  It's that fine line where they are actually getting some energy back but still feel like stuff.  Seriously though, don't come here for advice.

X[M[j]] < X (or set j = 0 if no such value exists)
    P = M[j]
    if j == L:
       M[j+1] = i
       L = max(L, j+1)
    if X < X[M[j]]:
       X[M[j]] = X

Looks like Discrete.  Discrete is not math.

Also, sin(x) = x - x^3/3! + x^5/5!-x^7/7!+...+x^n/n!.
As n approaches infinity of course, and assuming that (n/2 - .5) is even

It is not
only partial.  The Ion Cannon was some good fun, but it was only used to blow the stuff out of things.

This is why I came to RIT.  Large nerd population, and low idiot count.  It works well for me.  Most of the people I know here play Starcraft, LoL, Diablo, Oblivion, LoZ, Smash.  One of my friends plays BL, and we're all waiting for Pokemon Black and White.  Should be fun.

I don't think watching it in the HD option changes the audio.
It does, and quite noticeably.
