Add-Ons / Air Cubes
« on: November 19, 2016, 12:50:18 PM »

An alternative to using invisible modter or zonebricks, here is a brick pack made specifically for building in the air.

Benefits of Air Cubes:
+ Made for building inside.
+ Normal brick in water layer. Very small possible performance inpact, only as much as a normal disappeared brick would.

Problems with Modter:
- Has .dts collision which might impact performance more than normal bricks.

Problems with Zone Bricks:
- Has physical zones which might impact performance more than normal bricks.
- Breaks DOF screenshots

Add-Ons / Support_LegacyDoors Expanded v2 (ghost brick fix)
« on: October 13, 2016, 10:25:31 PM »
This mod acts as a "patch" for the default Support_LegacyDoors add-on by expanding on its features, fixing bugs, and even restoring a few JVS content stuff

If you dont want any of the new features, there's a fix-only version that only has the fix for the ghost bricks.

One big problem I noticed was that ghost bricks have collision of doors like the vault and the manhole. I've fixed this, now the ghost bricks have absolutely no collision, as they use the collisionless versions of the models as it was intended by JVS content. Now players cant cheat by jumping on their ghost bricks, which was a problem in various servers that didn't want you going anywhere but had building enabled with legacy doors, an example of this is in CityRPG servers.

Here are some lovey images of me posing inside a collisionless ghost brick, and on top of a collisioned placed brick. Beautiful.

Sorry ladies, I'm taken. ;^)

Another thing that I felt was an oddity, I have no idea why it was decided to add new sounds for doors using the standard AIM sounds. Now if you set the pref $Pref::Server::LegacyDoorlovepanded::ClassicDoorSounds to true, newly placed legacy doors will use the "classic" sounds. Otherwise, you can still mess with the classic door sounds by using events. The jvs content error sound is also added, if you want to use that for some events.

If you never liked sounds being added when you place legacy doors at all, then set $Pref::Server::LegacyDoorlovepanded::DisableDoorSounds to true. That'll disable those pesky sound events.

Another neat thing I've done is changed the categorization up a bit. Traps will be detected and placed under Legacy Traps. -Kyle's content will also be properly added to the legacy switches subcategory. Damn you -Kyle for using "-Kyle's content" as your subcategories!! He's lucky for only making switches...

I also dug deep and changed some legacy contents' subcategories by checking their uinames. If you don't like it when I check brick ui names, set $Pref::Server::LegacyDoorlovepanded::CheckUiNames to false. That'll teach me, but only if you restart the server.

Here is an image showing these categorization changes. A separate add-on is being used to make the brick icons smaller, which is very much needed as I have every jvs/content add-on I could find in an rtb archive.

In addition to that, if you want to go all JVS-like, you can throw all the legacy content into its own entire tab/category! Set $Pref::Server::LegacyDoorlovepanded::UseOwnCategory to true and all legacy content will be put in a "Legacy Doors" tab. This also requires a server restart.

Here is an image showing that off, I've disabled ui name checking for this image as well so you'd know what it would look like then.

That's it! If you like what you see go ahead and give this a download.

Add-Ons / Weak Spear Throw
« on: September 22, 2016, 03:22:23 AM »
I originally made this for my DeathMatch GameMode.

This is a very small script that adds a secondary attack to the spear. If you abort the charge, you do a much weaker spear throw.

Add-Ons / Simplified Key Hud
« on: September 22, 2016, 03:03:12 AM »
This is the same key hud system I've made for my DeathMatch GameMode.

With this, all default keys are not added to your inventory upon picking them up. Instead, they set a player variable.

When you activate a brick, it will also trigger the key related events. This allows you to open locked doors for example without switching from your gun or whatever. Somewhat like Doom.

(though this will activate onActivate and onKeyMatch/MisMatch at the same time)

Add-Ons / Old School Weaponset Modified v6
« on: September 21, 2016, 06:43:18 AM »
Original Topic by Khain
I have been given permission to release these as a standalone add-on/update. This is the same modified pack I've made for my DeathMatch GameMode.

This is an amazing pack, but I felt coloring the weapons based on gameplay/attack style was odd, so I went ahead and changed most of the weapons' colors to what I felt would be most fitting. Some emitter colors were also changed.
If you dont like the color changes, set the pref $Pref::Server::OldSchoolWeapons::ColorfulColors to true and restart your server. You should get the good old colors that the original pack had, will all the other additions of this version.

I also went ahead and made The Resonte!'s icons brighter and grayscale to allow the game to recolor the icons nicely.

I've also made akimbo versions of their icons, and made a custom icon for the spy kit.

In addition to all that, I made some kill icons for the weapons, some of which are edits of default weapon kill icons or some custom made by taking images of the weapons.

I've also added some new weapons, including a single revolver and akimbo grenade launchers.

Some weapons have added recoil - by that I mean they push your player a bit, they don't screw with your screen to make you dizzy or anything.

The baseball bat has a new secondary attack, somewhat based on the butterfly knife. If you let go of the fire button without fully charging the baseball bat, it does a weak attack.

All items share the same datablock names and ui names as the originals, so everything should still be compatable. Though this does result in datablock names saying the weapon is red or something when it clearly isn't.

I've restored an unused script that adds a spy kit, but it has no unique model so it uses the brick placer model. Use it to enable the ability to cloak by crouching.
Non-blockheads cant use it. If you dont like the playertype restrictions, set the pref $Pref::Server::OldSchoolWeapons::UnlimitedSpyKit to true. This should let any playertype use the spy kit, but non-blockheads will be forcefully transformed into blockheads.

credits: khain and armageddon for making this amazing pack of oldschool/default styled weapons!
gr8dayseth for a tiny fix to the crossbow.
the resonte! for making some really nice icons which i based my modifications on.
piber20 for the changes mentioned in the description above the download link.
you're always free to use my stuff, but if you made an add-on that uses the default brick placer model, the spy kit icon i made can be easily used for your purposes!

Modification Help / What's the deal with the default team stuff?
« on: September 17, 2016, 12:15:55 PM »
I've always wondered why there seems to be stuff, like team chat, all set up for some team system yet default/vanilla Blockland seems to have no team system that I can find? Does anyone know of a reason for this, could it have been a planned but scrapped feature, or a simple set up for add-ons to use?

According to this function list that was linked to me, don't know how legit or accurate it is, there does seem to be some team related functions, but do they do anything or are they just filler/scrapped/dummied out?
Code: [Select]

Music / piber20 loop pack
« on: September 09, 2016, 03:20:51 PM »
hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh hhhhhhh

dowbmgload 37 MB

Most songs are looped by me, and have been optimised as best as possible without harming the playback quality too much - it's hard to tell or care in blockland, in audio programs you're probably going to notice the low quality.
Some songs may have been looped already by other people.

The biggest loop is 709 KB - MASHUP_-_anouncement2_wmv.ogg
The smallest loop is 71 KB - NOTMUSIC_-_Loud_climax.ogg
Contains 117 loops at the time of typing this.

10 loops are larger than what Badspot recommended. (500 KB)
(even though Paprika_-_Byakko_no.ogg is 1022 KB and After_School_Special.ogg 625 KB)
Shouldnt be too much of a problem compared to the amount of song files NOT over the recommendation.

Some names dont make sense, should be changed in the future.
Some loops are quite old, the oldest one was modified in Aug 2015.
Some loops are dumb or are very poor quality.
Some loops are loud.
Most loops should loop very nicely.

Lots of cancer

Really needs touching up but still works well
Also please dont play Blockland with thousands of music files active.

Enjoy

Game Modes / Deathmatch Gamemode v25
« on: September 08, 2016, 07:57:19 AM »
This has been my baby for a few months now. I was working on another gamemode that I called LifeRP but it was taking a while and wanted to work on something that would be easy to work on and have a simple goal, to see how I would "complete" a coded, functional gamemode. I feel that this is in a polished enough state to be super public, used, and abused. This is a work of love for the Blockland game and for my newfound abilities to program. This was made after not seeing many simple or 'classic style' deathmatch games on Blockland for quite a while, and was fearing that the death of Blockland's own style was imminent, so I tried my hardest to create a new, easy to use, play, and host, gamemode. The aim of the gamemode is to provide a classic/fast/action/arcade/default/doom style experience, while being as plug and play and expandable as the default SpeedKart gamemode.

Author: piber20
Full credits can be viewed ingame with the /dmCredits command. There's a lot of integrated add-ons and code files.

Features
Type /help into the ingame chat and it will provide you with a list of commands to help you use these features.

Map Rotation
The default SpeedKart gamemode was used as a base when I created this, and as a result that grants you the power of map rotation! After 5 (by default) rounds, the current build will be cleared, and another build will be loaded. You need add-ons prefixed with "DeathMatch_" that contain saves for this to work correctly. You can find a lot at the bottom of this post.

Expanded Map Features
Changes have been made to the map rotater to add more map-specific features. Each map can now have a unique weapon loadout i.e. a city themed map could start you with a gun while a castle themed map could start you with a sword and a bow. Each map can also specify if water instantly kills, and the main music of the map which will always play on the first round. You can also vote to change maps.

Custom Playertype
A playertype, named "Deathmatch Player", has been custom made for this gamemode. It has speeds comparable to the Quake-Like player, but retains the jump height of the standard player. As a bonus, it can also crouch jump, adding a half-life twist to it.

Categories and Themes
Each map can be sorted and themed, and you can choose to restrict the map rotator to only loading maps of a specific category/theme/both.

Integrated Weapons
Many classic and default styled weapon add-ons have been integrated into the gamemode. You don't need to download them, they are fully integrated into the gamemode as part of the code. There have also been a few tweaks to these weapons. Even the default weapons, including a weaker throw for the spear if you release it early. Again, you do not need to download any extra add-ons for these features, they are part of the gamemode's internal files.

Custom weapons
The gamemode features harmful versions of the default tools, allowing you to add them to weapon loadouts. There's also an edited rocket launcher that fires cannonballs. There's also a blockhead ray that turns non-blockheads (like horses) into blockheads, a pong gun, and a pinball launcher.

Changed key mechanics
Keys now show up in your HUD, and are never added to your item inventory. You can use keys just by activating bricks normally. This allows you to open locked doors for example without needing to switch to a key item.

Music - Can be disabled
Each round plays a random song based on the map's theme. Maps can also specify their main music, forcing it to play in the first round and adding it to the randomiser for that map. This can be disabled.

If you dont want to download music files, you dont need to! The deathmatch gamemode will check if you have the music files, and will go into a musicless mode.

Random rounds - Must enable it
Each round can have different gameplay styles, with set loadouts and playertypes.

Crouch Jumping - Can be disabled
More info: https://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=302417.0
Version 7 of my Crouch Jump server script is fully integrated, adding to the FPS-like gameplay. This also means you won't have to download my script for this gamemode to work. Player_Half-Life is also included.

Cooler deaths - Crumble can be disabled
Server_PGDie has been merged with the 007 death sounds bringing you some cooler death effects which should make deaths more entertaining.

Teams - Can be disabled
A custom, simple, and lightweight teams system has been made specifically for this gamemode. If you attack someone on your team, they will not be damaged. Everyone in a team shares points. Team chat works as you'd expect

Achievements - Must enable it
An achievements system has been integrated into the gamemode, providing challenges for your players. The achievements will work without any client mod.

Everything you need is integrated into the gamemode's code files, except for the default add-ons, which you should have already.

Suggestions & Requests / Expanded print gui
« on: September 06, 2016, 10:20:56 PM »
Mr.Noßody suggested that it's time for a new print gui, and I agree, so I whipped up a concept image and thought up some ideas.

The current one works, but it's too restricting and gets very disorganised with a lot of prints.

Here's what I came up with (this is an edited image and is being used to show my thoughts visually, i don't know how to make functional guis)

Some ideas for what a new print gui could do:
- Allow a print of any size to be put on any print brick, I recall this being possible and an older add-on doing this.
- Separate the different print sizes into tabs, being more organised. Should add arrows to the gui like the tab shifting brick selector addon.
- Categorise them by the add-on.zip they're in, appearing more like the brick gui.
- Allow the user to resize the window by dragging the corner/edges, or at least make the window bigger.

This should give players a lot more power while being way more organised than the default gui.

Would be amazing if this were made.

Gallery / piber20's ROBLOX Classic Pack
« on: September 06, 2016, 09:35:46 PM »
Some of these may have been made by other people already, but I made my own versions anyway.

This pack contains some classic maps from ROBLOX recreated for Blockland. They were all made using default bricks. I plan to add more to this pack in the future.

I was thinking to myself "What if these were default saves for Blockland?" so I tried to replicate that feeling as best as I could.

These are not meant to be perfect recreations, some brick sizes may be a little off and some of the placements may be a little off, but it should be close enough to get the same feeling as they would on ROBLOX.

A few notes regarding the heights:
- The Heights is a little off due to default blockland not having a lot of different types of swords, and I was also thinking of a DM server when I was building it, so some weapons are scattered about. If you want to make a DM using it, start the players with a sword and nothing else. A couple item placements were also replaced with chests.
- The launch/teleport pads may also not be accurate, but it plays well.

Gallery / Pirate World Remastered (and some other v20 saves)
« on: September 06, 2016, 08:53:57 PM »

Back in v20 there was this save for the kitchen called Pirate World. I thought it was pretty cool but the entire build didn't translate well to v21, the only part that made the transition was the pirate ship. I couldn't stand for that though, so I created a completely new island terrain and placed the build in it. Some changes had to be made for this to work, but I think this is a great build. The island terrain somewhat respects the kitchen map, you can see that tiny waterfall being the little gap between the counter and the oven. Many of the kitchen's secret passageways were translated into caves within the island.

I feel that this is what a little kid would have imagined the build looking like in their mind, had they built it themselves in their kitchen. It's nice.

You can download this too. As a bonus the .zip file contains v20 saves ported over to v21 and tweaked a bit. There's also a Beta City save that contains some stuff from the v20 version lowered down to the ground.

A few notes regarding the pirate world:
- Some bricks are floating. I tried making them not float but it was taking a lot of time trying to find which ones were actually floating.

Faces, Decals, Prints / More Default Prints
« on: September 06, 2016, 08:29:45 PM »
Originally released on RTB (and as separate files due to RTB itself) and named "Default", potentially confusing people as to which prints are default or extra prints added by me. This problem is now somewhat remedied as all the files are now named MoreDefault. Here I present you the entire pack in one file, and I've touched up a few more things as well. Default style prints made for my L Shaped Bricks are also included here.

With this, all default print bricks now have prints ready for you to use that fit alongside the default prints.

Author: piber20
Nearly every single print in this pack is an edit of the default prints, done with the goal of making most prints work for other print sizes. The creator of the game, Badspot, probably made these. They may have also been free resources, like most of the other files in the game.

Add-Ons / piber20's Stack o' Bricks
« on: September 06, 2016, 07:55:50 PM »
These are all separate add-ons, I felt that they all should go in the same topic as they're all bricks and I have quite a few of them.

1x1F Round Print Brick v3
This add-on dates all the way back to 2011, on RTB. It was "suggested" even earlier in 2009. If I recall correctly, I was still known as ChristopherP. According to the RTB archives I found, the last version was version two, last updated in 2013. After three years, I now present to you the third version of this very simple add-on. All I did was polish it a bit, and remade the icon. Enjoy.

Baseplate Print Bricks v2
Baseplate print bricks probably already exist, but I decided to make my own anyway. Each baseplate has their own print type, so you're going to want to make/find prints prefixed with 32x32f, 16x32f, and 16x16f.

At the moment they do not have any icons. They work pretty much flawlessly though.

L Shaped Bricks v7
First made in 2010 and released on RTB, latest version was released in 2011 at v4. Here's v5, with more polish and remade icons.

Contains 5 bricks based off of the 2x2 Corner brick that was introduced in v15(?). A plate version, tall versions, and print versions. The print bricks have their own print type, so you're going to want to make/find prints prefixed with 2x2L and 2x2fL.
