v25:

Added /download command

You are now told to check the /download command if you have no maps loaded

Gamemode is now playable without any map, the Beta City map is loaded by default. You will still get messages about needing to download maps, though

Removed Ephialtes' Shotgun, it's a nice and nostalgic item but it was weird having two shotguns
- All instances of the shotgun appearing in maps will be replaced with the old school shotgun

Removed Kaje's Sniper Rifle, it's a nice and nostalgic item but it was weird having two snipers
- All instances of the sniper rifle appearing in maps will be replaced with the old school sniper

Reorganised gameplay prefs a bit

You can now disable players spawning with kits, printer rays, and shotgun rays in randomised rounds

Removed blockhead ray and blockhead shotgun. It was a good concept but in practice, never used

Randomised loadout pools have been cleaned and rebuilt

The gamemode now creates the music datablocks by itself!
- A musicless version is no longer necessary! If a music file is missing, the gamemode will automatically go into musicless mode.
- You can now specify a custom music path using a pref. Your music folder will no longer need to be cluttered!

The big thing about this update in my opinion is the music stuff. Now I don't need to make a whole separate version of the gamemode for people who don't want music. I've also removed a few weapons that I felt wasnt very fitting, and made it so you could further remove things via prefs!

Also because of the music changes, the Blockland Glass version is the FULL, LEGIT, MAIN VERSION. No more musicless nonsense!

v10:

Use Old Names pref is now more descriptive, shows up as "Rename SuperKarts to SpeedKarts" in rtb/glass prefs

You can now load music from the custom gamemode (pref is disabled by default)

You are now told to check the /download command if you have no tracks loaded

Gamemode is now playable without any track, the Lighthouse track is loaded by default. You will still get messages about needing to download maps, though
Video of this in action. Looks like a perfectly normal game, but I actually had no FASTKarts add-ons during that video!

I thought I was pretty much done with this gamemode but I got some ideas and felt like doing a little more. I also got a much bigger update for Deathmatch that I'll post about shortly.

maybe you should make glassbot PM users with warnings rather than posting it in general, people think it's really funny to provoke the bot because they have an audience
Or perhaps make the message only show up for the user. A whole new PM window would be a bit much.

Ok, thanks.

EDIT: The readme.md doesn't have anything other then info, and the description.txt files are all blank.
I was referring to the main topic post. That link I quoted is found there. I gave you a link you could have easily found yourself the same way you found the FASTKarts download link. :/

The reason why the fastkarts tracks contain blank description.txt files is because Blockland Glass accepts a file as an Add-On only if it contains a description.txt. I had to work around Blockland Glass' bad design. Based on that same rule, Blockland Glass wouldnt even detect the official, default speedkart tracks as add-ons if they were uploaded there. Thankfully it wasn't that annoying of a workaround, so it's all settled now.

How do we get maps? I loaded in and there wasn't any maps so I kept dying...
Always read the descriptions of files you download. This general rule not only applies with Blockland Add-Ons, but to pretty much anything you download online.

Download All Official Tracks

well, more themed weapons would be nice, the only real weapon that fits space themed builds is the disintegrator
I was actually thinking of something like this! I remember back many versions ago I was looking for futuristic themed weapons but there doesn't seem to be very many space themed weapons that are default-styled.

speaking of which

I think it would look better with the old smile.

This looks really good. At this point we're just nitpicking at a concept, but I feel the feet could be longer.

EDIT: I would love to see some more concepts of player customisation that isn't ripped from Blockland. Maybe some hair? More torso/leg shapes?

Alright then, I tried out some examples of character customization.

The game could allow the players to use a wide range of accessories
I really like these models, but again, I feel this playermodel would fit better in a different game. I get unturned and paint the town red vibes from these. (pttr probably comes from the afro dude lol)

EDIT: Also, I hate to be rude about this, but I feel that you should have developed this game further before revealing it. I'm worried this is going to die or end up being disappointing. :/

I really hope you succeed with creating this "blockland successor" game. There are so few games that allow for the level of creativity Blockland or even ROBLOX allows.

you should add more weapons, the slow RL was a neat idea
The gamemode is already pretty bloated as is. I really only made the slow rocket because I wanted a weapon that replicates ROBLOX's rocket launcher better, and the cannon launcher was way too op for that purpose. Though I am open to ideas, if there is a specific weapon you think would make a great addition to the deathmatch gamemode, then feel free to speak your mind.

A lot of these conceptual player models dont look very minifig-like, at least at first glance. They also look like they might be taller than LEGO minifigs/blockland avatars. They look really good but I don't think they would work in a "blockland clone".

Suggestions & Requests / Classic new game gui concept
« on: July 20, 2017, 06:35:36 PM »
Last year, I made some concepts of a window-style new game gui. I thought I might as well show them off since I haven't been doing anything with them.

Classic style:

Nearly the same as v20's new game gui. Some gui element positional changes would need to be done since it's showing gamemodes and not maps.

Modern style:

This one is meant to replicate v21's gui, but in a window.

These were done with an image editing program, so I don't have any gui files to give away. Still, would be nice to see this concept be made. The server settings gui was made into a window by blockland glass, so the only thing that remains is the new game gui. It's really weird that the new game gui has this "metro" style while every other gui in the game uses windows. Personally I feel windows are easier to deal with, so hence these concepts. Feel free to discuss.

uses config/server/musiclist.cs
so it's the same list of music as you have saved in the custom gamemode

Hmm... It's a neat idea. I'll look into adding it in a user friendly way. I'll probably lock it behind a pref that's disabled by default. I'm worried about first time users starting up the gamemode and wondering why it's taking so long for players to load their server, without realising their super-duper-mega-ultra pack of 3000+ music files was activated in the custom gamemode.

oh and, suggestion:
put
Code: [Select]
createMusicDatablocks();
at the start of server.cs, and it'l load all the music datablocks just as if you was to host a custom server.
so.. no need to mess around in gamemode.txt to add music.

(untested! idk if this actually works)
How would you determine what music files will be loaded in that case?

download on your website is 'broken', file doesn't download properly
I had to change hosts and it seems some files were corrupted. I'm currently trying to fix this, please use the nexus mods or blockland glass mirror for now.

EDIT: Fastkarts file was restored, you can download it from my site now. I'm still looking around for corrupted files but it seems only a few have been messed up.
