Of course, but there are people all over the world that check in at 8 and then work till 6 and would give their left loving leg to make $200,000 a year.
Mmhmm, there are. We're no more entitled to that money than they are, but the fact of the matter is that in the end you're still taxing people that much of their income away. And for what? Currently in our conversation it's been kind of assumed it's for wealth redistribution, but that's not true. Yes, lower income people do get aid from tax dollars, but that's not what a majority of our money goes to. It goes to superfluous government organizations that have absolutely no reason to exist. By cutting useless government programs the government can save a buttload of money AND be able to lower taxes for everybody. There's no doubt about it, the government needs tax dollars to operate. But currently, the government's got a hand in every honey pot.

We're talking about 3%.
Not only is 3% of $400,000 $12,000, the point is that it's not right to tax such absurdly high rates. I was being a bit facetious when I said he deserves half, I think it should clear to pretty much everyone that when people go out to work they deserve to bring in more money than they pay in taxes. In my opinion, nobody should have a tax rate higher than 40%. Even 40% is ridiculous; think about that. Think about going to work each day, checking in at 9, working until 1:45, then knowing for the next 3 and a quarter hours you're not actually making any money. Obviously that's not how it actually works, but that's what it comes down to.

You can afford to though, someone making 30k can't.
You're right. I'm not suggesting a 53% tax rate for people with $30k a year income. But just because we can afford it doesn't make it right. My dad pretty much has the typical American dream story; worked hard through school, got good grades, worked his way through college waiting on tables at a restaurant while building up debt, was recommended to a job at Hardvard Medical School by his graduate adviser, he applied, got it. When his boss left to go work on the AIDS virus he asked my dad to come with him, so he did. Working hard the entire way, he built his portfolio and income the entire way up. He isn't a guy who was handed everything in life, he's a guy that tried his hardest to make the best possible life for his wife and children. It's not a tragedy that he's being taxed more than others, but that he worked his entire life to come to a point where more of the money he earns each day at work goes to taxes than it does to us. You may think I'm biased in saying it, but I'm incredibly proud of how my dad got to where he is now, and I think he deserves at least half of the money he earns every day. Really.

It's kinda the principle of it though, don't you think? My family is paying more money to the government than we are taking in for ourselves. I think that speaks for itself.

General Discussion / Re: How do I know who to promote to admin?
« on: January 07, 2013, 10:21:27 PM »
Frankly, I see it like this. If whatever you're hosting is good, people will start coming forward as 'regulars.' These regulars will soon be more knowledgeable than others, and they are ideal choices for promotion to admin. Until you get these people on your server, you've got a couple of options. You can just have friends moderate it, but that depends on who your friends are. I personally don't mind if people think my admins are stuffty, so I admin my friends anyway. Your could also just shut down the server when you leave until these regulars start to separate out. Or you could just leave it up and hope nobody forgets it up. No server will have admins present 100% of the time, so you want your server to be at least enough quality to stand 6 hours or more without an admin present. The best servers are ones that never require a moderator.

Speaking as the son of a guy making more than $400,000 a year, you'd be surprised. This year we're paying over 50% of our income in tax.

Why is that dumb?  The government could rake in such a boatload if they didn't hand out tax breaks to the mega giant corporations that can actually handle slightly less profits.
No, they can't. Lol. Taxes are based on a percentage, if you tax them by 5% more they will lay off workers to maintain the same income. Increasing taxes directly correlates with a loss of jobs.

im looking for this but i cant find it

where is management?
Sorry, I meant "Manage." It's in the left hand side of the dashboard of your server. Right next to "Access Control" and "Chat Logs" under "Manage" with a wrench next to it.

Ah, but but you have explained it incorrectly. Here's a quote from the first link: The federal government subsidizes the oil industry with numerous tax breaks and government protection programs worth billions of dollars annually.

It's not that the federal government pays for your gas before you, it's that the government allows them more income by giving them tax breaks and protecting their business.

What do you WANT the government to do. They can't make money magically appear.
Cut spending. Then there's more money to go towards paying off the national debt.

Modification Help / Re: Turning Green Light On (client sided)

You can't use the Greenlight if you haven't clicked the Greenlight button on the main menu though, so the client must be sending another variable with some sort of confirmation that the user has pressed the Greenlight button before.

He knows, he just said that he tried that and it didn't work, so he's asking if he's doing something wrong or if there's a different way.
And I'm telling him that it literally has to work. /greenlight does nothing besides send commandToServer('greenlight');

If it doesn't work, then the server you're on broke /greenlight.

However, if you for some reason maintain that this does not work whatsoever, you could do this:
Code: [Select]
function setGreenLighthandicappedWay()
{
    nmh_type.setValue("/greenlight");
    nmh_type.send();
}
