there are several approaches you can take
1. talk to someone for like a week or so and then imply that you want to be their boyfriend and if they imply back, ask them (my favorite)
2. randomly ask some stranger (also something I have experience with)
3. start telling someone you love them every time you say goodbye (I've heard this one works too)

i'll have to try that
problem is that all my friends are straight or in a relationship
