download mcedit.
load the world in mcedit
select the area with the mobs and delete entities.

I believe that does it.
Well, mcedit confirmed the massive number of sheep. Only problem is that a few seconds after it loads, it freezes due to the huge number of entities. How do you like, very quickly lower the distance it loads things? Or is there a config file somewhere?

Edit: Scratch that. I just had to let it load for a minute or so.

Edit2: Thank you :D
There are still over 500 mobs in my world, more then there should be. But that's a far cry from 17000.

Use TNT or lava to kill them all.
I would like to see you kill them all with TNT or lava when you're getting one frame every 10-20 seconds and don't have TNT or lava and can't find where the damn things are in the first place.

that sounds utterly ridiculous.
It is ridiculous. But it's currently making my world absolutely unplayable.

You'll notice the "E: 13/17054"
For those of you who don't yet know, that means in my current view there are 13 mobs somewhere in the world in front of me, out of a total of 17054 mobs.
You will also notice the number is much higher now then I said originally. They is because they seem to be continuously spawning or something, and at my humble 0.05 fps every frame about 100-200 more sheep are spawned.

Only 13 mobs are in my view at the moment because I had the brilliant idea to attempt to tunnel into the hill and murder all of the sheep... Yeah that's not happening now. Is there any way to kill all of them? Does any map editor support spawning/despawning mobs?

As a final note, my belief is that this is the result of some bug with breeding, causing animals to breed constantly. I don't see it being the fault of the mob spawning system, as from my understanding of the system that makes absolutely no sense.

Right so I've been playing a 1.9 P3 world since yesterday and today I started noticing that I would get these lag spikes that would freeze the game for a few seconds and then after that I would go from averaging 150+fps on far+fancy+smooth lighting to being lucky to get 15-20fps on tiny+fast+default lighting. I suspected it was that bug that people were running into that caused huge amounts of lag, but was curious as to why I was playing just fine for the last two days without a hitch. I noticed that I only got these massive amounts of lag when I was near-ish my home, but what I didn't notice was the fact that as I headed in a certain direction, it got worse.
I ended up walking in that direction, not knowing or suspecting what I would find. My FPS steadily dropped from around 150 to 20, then 10, then I was getting something like 1 fps. I exited the world and loaded it up again and took note that it took considerably long for the game to load the file. Then I saw it. As the terrain generated, for a split second I could see a huge mass of sheep under a hill. Checking F3 (which took about 20 seconds to do, I was getting maybe one frame every 5 seconds) It read there were 15334 mobs in front of me. It wasn't the rendering that hurt my FPS, as when I paused I would get a steady 200 fps while looking at these mobs, but it was the massive amount of physics and AI calculations murdering my CPU.

How the forget did fifteen thousand sheep get under a hill. I will attempt to get pics tomorrow.

(I typed this up last night at like 1AM but didn't post it, and I'm only posting it now at like 10:30AM)

Can a 500W PSU work for this?
Not likely. Get a 600W, 500W may give you stability issues.

I have a feeling the CPU may be a bottleneck. Can't be arsed to check though.

Put it in a savings account for a year or two. And then never have to work a day in my life while making a sustainable upper middle class salary from interest alone.

Bump.

I had this random mason who managed to kill several underground critters via kicks, I nicknamed him "Curb Stomp"
Probably had really high strength from all the masonry and whatnot.

You get no respect because you demand no respect. That and they are probably higher up then you in the social spectrum.

They don't have any demands yet.
Referring to Occupy Wallstreet, I was citing this: http://occupywallst.org/forum/proposed-list-of-demands-for-occupy-wall-st-moveme/
Edit: Yes, I realize it's only "proposed" but they are still loving handicapped.
