Blockland.us/smf is only a place for mature teens.
..who don't always act mature.

I can understand how it would be hard to co-ordinate everyone. But if your true goal is to have a very journlistic news source, you should attempt some kind of system. Maybe something as simple as the doing research on their own time and sending you their reports so you can write the article. There would be nothing stopping you from writing an article without them.

I was thinking, no matter how "journalistic" the style of wirting is, it's style a blog. Why you ask? Well, you and your writers can just get on and type up an article, probably without much reviewing before it is posted.

What I think you need to do is set up a structured system where you have a couple members of your team be focused on researching and finding stuff to write about. Sure, comming up with one article might be a little more of a tedious process, but the end results will be much more journalistic, and probably more informative too. Right now it's just a blog trying to pass as a news source. Not like it matter's a whole bunch, it's just about an online building game.

Edit: I am hopeless without spell check D:

You should just make this an all-opinion blog or you should stop mixing in opinion articles. If people are having trouble telling if something is opinion or not you have a problem.

I think reviews would be OK, but not your opinion on drama.

TF2 does a really good job at stopping quickscoping.

I think you need to stop posting so many opinion articles or you'll end up like Fox News. You'll have so much opinion stuff people might start discrediting your more serious journalism as well.

We're not nearly as bad as 4Chan, but about 90% of the stuff in Off Topic has some reference to love.

Anyone who said Badspot is hateful
i'll be honest
i think jorgen112 is a little stuff
Yeah.

But it doesn't make us any better when we say this is a perfect little site. There are a lot of research references and most of us are silly teenagers. These place may seem very entertaining to most of the people here but outsiders probably think this is a very scary place.

I think it would be nice if the community could try to actually clean this up instead of lying about how safe it is for children.

It looks like some of the people saying that this is a really bad place just are mad they got banned.

I hate it when people squeeze points with sniper rifles. It's unfair because they can kill you long before you get a chance at hurting them with another gun.

Deluxe is the enhanced version of the original TT back in 95. Now abandon ware, an open source copy remake called OpenTTD offers new AI, graphics, mapping and vehicle algorithms. This was the first Tycoon game, back in the day.

- The game's default port is 3979, you would need to forward to host a net game.
- in game you can browse/download/install and use graphics that are submitted to the Openttd server.
- game can be played in any screen resolution, at full screen or window, manual stretch window size.
- there can be 250 people in a single game, however there can only be 15 companies(teams) so more then 15 people would share building, or just join servers as spectators
- map editor is included
- can easily create dedicated servers, with all the console command control needed. a very lightweight game, a massive 32 player map that's all built up with a thousand vehicles, only runs near 50m on my computer. Ive ran a dozen dedicated servers once, while downloading things all day, and there wasn't lag.

Trains are the most fun to use. can create massive complex junctions and stations, with many in and outgoing trains dodging each other. using properly setup signals in a maze network of track.

The towns on game eventually grow into huge cities on their own, depending how you deliver and transport to and from them.
larger cities have differing needs for goods and higher populations demand faster trans later in game.

road vehicles are fun to watch crowd up a city. cheap and great for starting out.

1. Badspot has never accepted foreign C++ code.
Badspot has used code provided by Ephi.

Spellcheck as part of the OS is best.

These may have more caffeine than Redbull but they don't have Taurine or a few days worth of vitamins. They will probably give you less of a rush.

Suggestions & Requests / Re: [Engine Change] Collision Layering
« on: March 08, 2011, 11:59:55 PM »
A possible problem is networking issues. If you are using a bitmask, for each layer you have registered would be one more bit of data to be sent at ghosting. It might not be a big deal for stuff like TDMs, but you'll start to have problems if you want to have a whole bunch of zombies spawned, or you decided to use it on projectiles.
