Reflecting Array Approach "Letterman!" Ash swings his head around and tries to look for the Foxbat, but no traces of its existence are left in the wake of the beam. "[Ark, forget!] Watchtower, Blackeye, we have an airman down! I'm engaging offensive!" Ash steels himself against the threat and brings his radar to bear over the drone swarm. He slaves the scanner to Bothynus-1 and releases two radar-guided missiles, "Fox-1 ripple!"

Palisade, Phase 1 "They're flying straight up," Lorens points out, "That can't be good news for the interceptor group. Let's take them out."

Reflecting Array Approach "Blackeye, breaking!" Though the extremely low atmospheric pressure makes for clumsy handling, Ash manages to roll the Corsair and turn away. He breaks off opposite from Markus.

Palisade, Phase 1 The Shiva's RWR whines as it picks up scans from the Typhoon radars. Lorens preemptively readies his missiles. The Stirling cryocoolers installed in the all-aspect missiles quickly drain all heat away from the seekers, raising the roosterpit feedback tone's pitch to the signature growl. "Nails 12 o'clock, fight's on!"

Palisade, Phase 1

: Alright, I'm sure it went without saying in the briefing room, but just in case I'd like to remind everyone this is a very time-sensitive mission we're on. We stick around too long, and they're going to drown us in reinforcements.

"Yeah. We forget up, it's a done deal. No pressure," Lorens chimes.

Two sabot rounds enter their respective chambers as the capacitors build charge. "Snowman, guns armed, radar off. Ready to engage."


Reflecting Array Approach

Ash levels the Corsair. The curvature of the horizon commands his gaze, "Man, I wish my folks could see this."

He eventually catches himself and returns his attention to the mission. "Letterman and I can handle some of the drones, we'll stay forward."

Ash nods along, taking a moment to digest Jaakko's response, "[Yeah, that's a tough choice. I really wanted to move back to Mercana and work as a pilot there, but the living expenses in the big cities are so high I'd probably have a hard time just breaking even]," he frets, thinking about his adoptive parents, "[You could probably do it though. If you can land an engineering position at AAC or even with a defense contractor, you'd be set. I'd give it a shot if I were you.]"

"Well, I guess that's that," Ash decides after looking at his watch, "You better hold onto that fifty, Major, 'cos the next time we raise the stakes, I'm taking my money back. I'll see you down at the bunks," he finishes with a roostery grin and casually walks out of the lounge.

Ash folds his arms and watches the screen intently. His expression darkens as he reads the telemetry, evidently dissatisfied with how Markus has handled the fight.

"He should've brought something that was actually meant for shooting planes, not airships. You're never going to hit something that small and fast with plasma, not unless it's a fluke."

"Alright. You've got a point there," Ash concedes. He looks back at the display.

"Now this is a fair fight. If Scorch knows what he's working with, he can win for sure." A smile tugs at Ash's lips. "I'm feelin' a little lucky right now. Fifty bucks says Scorch takes it," he wagers.

Seeing the fight unfold differently from what he predicted, Ash slowly leans forward, pulls his arms together and interweaves his fingers. His expression tightens as he studies the telemetry overlaying the HUD feed.

Ash scratches his shoulder and takes a seat at the opposite end of the couch wearing a bored expression.

"I'd put my money on Scorch if he had actually kitted his Corsair properly," he replies, "He has the initiative. It would've been a clear advantage if he took more radar missiles like he should've."

Ash drapes both his arms over the couch's backrest, leans his head back and sighs.

"Ah, dammit. I really wanted to watch the Cavaliers play the Tigers today," he rights his head and looks at Simon, "You watch any Mercanan football?"

"Splash! Yeah! Bagged that sonuvabitch!," Lorens shouts after tearing his mask off. He quickly fastens it back on to keep from passing out, "Skytracer, you're the new actual. I'm returning to formation on you," Lorens turns his fighter back around and winds up alongside Ellie's port wing.
