Also, are you sure you did nothing? If you move your mouth the wrong way, it can also pop off a bracket, but that is only if the glue is already weak.

No.
1 mL = 1/1000 L
Or, in other words
1 mL = .001 L
So if:
1000 mL = 1 L
Then:
500 mL = .5 L
Seeing as 500 is half of 1000 and half of one is .5.
