Because May was even more unpopular. May was Hillary Clinton and Corbyn was Donald Annoying Orange. Get happy with what you have, because all the tories need to do is talk about how terrible Corbyn is (not hard to do, BTW) and they will gain seats next election.
corbyns got extreme amounts of stuff for ages, and somehow the tories repeating themselves will make him lose seats?
but having to manage brexit with a coalition government with the DUP (literal nutjobs - creationists, anti abortion, anti climate change, anti homoloveuality) will not affect them in the slightest?

may, april, march

notably : before the actual election where it was clearly shown he isnt unpopular

(i mean even the guardian one in may says "The Tories are convinced that Theresa May’s record- high approval ratings will carry her to a landslide victory on 8 June." and look how that turned out)

anyone who thinks corbyn is climbing the ranks is naive as hell

corbyn is a radical left-wing nutjob whose opinions are unpopular with a lot of people
his net likability is about -17% (AKA Annoying Orange levels of unlikability)

any competent conservative who didn't decide to go old-school authoritarian like dumbass May did would knock him down effortlessly
you keep telling yourself this mate

the only thing corbyn has managed to do is push the government right
yeah, he hasnt just gained 29 seats for labour despite being called "unelectable" a couple of months ago
in 2015 there was 2,000,000 votes between labour and conservative, nows theres 800,000

corbyns done a stuff ton and im well proud of him, hoping the momentum can keep goin
