He seemed like a pretty cool dude from what I remember. Such a shame when these things happen to genuinely good people.

And to everyone who's talking about drugs and stuff, you should think before you spew your self-righteous bullstuff. Doing drugs does not make you any less human. You still have problems, you still feel emotions. It sounds like this kid was fighting depression for a long time, which is something a lot of you have probably never felt.

you don't need drugs to get rid of bad memories or emotions

it's weak
You just changed the argument completely while putting words in my mouth. You're an idiot. I quit.

People instinctively self-medicate all the time. Certain fungal infections can be treated by drinking milk, and strangely enough people with this infection will begin to consume a lot of milk without even knowing why.

It takes more than a drug to become an addict. People can even do cocaine a few times and walk away from it. Marijuana is not addicting at all, but some are habitual.

People use what drugs their body feels they need. Some people want to be slowed down, others want to be sped up. You never watch an episode of Intervention and see a person with anything but a miserable story. Not once has someone had a perfect existence. They all have something destroyed as a kid they can never get over. Feelings of massive insecurity or anxiety from what has happened. Something they can self-medicate.

Drugs don't make addicts.
Finally, someone who understands what drug abuse is!

A person becomes dependent on something to help alleviate specific recollections or feelings. Psychological dependence begins if the drug relieves the person of what they did not wish to retain anymore. This constant feeling leads to psychological reinforcement, which eventually leads to dependence.
So how does this inhibit the ability for someone to have a safe recreational relationship with a substance?

1) You don't understand the definition of satisfaction.
Well then please explain your take on what the article is saying, I'm very interested.

A person becomes dependent on something to help alleviate specific emotions. Psychological dependence begins after the first trial which a person then becomes satisfied and the satisfaction increases with each use. This constant feeling leads to psychological reinforcement which eventually leads to dependence. Of the various things that a person can be psychologically dependent on, "opiates, benzodiazepines, barbiturates, alcohol, and nicotine" are among the top substances people become dependent on.
Not every drug user meets this criteria.

Along with substances, people can also become dependent on activities as well; such as shopping, research, self-harm, and many more. While a psychologically dependent person attempts to recover, there are many withdrawal symptoms that one can experience throughout the process. When trying to over come psychological dependence on a drug, one can go to a substance abuse program.
This actually reinforces the pro-drug arguments being made in this thread.

Good job, you just forgeted your own ass.

You clearly don't understand the biology of homo sapiens.

I implore you to never talk again.
You clearly don't understand the psychology of human beings.

I implore you to kill yourself.

Medical purpose.

Someone recommended these to me once. I said no. Instead of popping pills, I decided the best course of action was to actually fix the problem.

Medical purpose.
Anything to do with "medical purpose" is taking action to better your life. To a pretty slim percentage, for some people this may actually be smoking marijuana recreationally. You have to realize that not everyone is susceptible to forming habits from substances. Not everyone chooses to do drugs because they have to. These people simply choose to because it's what's going to provide them with the most fun at that given moment.

Also, your comment on anti-depressants is a clear display of backpedaling. You should probably think your argument out a little better before investing this much time and effort into it.

Why cant people just go down to the HomeDepot or wahtever and buy a small pipe pieces :/
That is potentially just as dangerous. You have to watch out for what parts are galvanized.

I like how everyone arguing in this topic clearly doesn't know a single thing about drugs.

Assuming THC is one of the main bad chemicals (it damages and impairs brain cells), it's like you took out the plant bit and just take part of the drug end.
