So my friends and I decided to work together a summer project, and came up with the idea to expand my current treehouse. Keep in mind our budget is somewhere from 300-1000$ depending on how many friends we get involved, and what ideas we actually use. I decided to make this topic about it to keep you guys up to date on the progress, and to get ideas/suggestions.

Here's the current dimensions:

(Drawn in AutoCad 2010. The Ovals are the trees, and the other corners are held up by 4x4s cemented in the ground.)

So yeah, that's what's already done and in my yard. For a visual, it's a platform raised off the ground 8 feet, connected to 2 pine trees like drawn above. It's roughly 150 feet away from my house, at the foot of my woods.

Anyways, our current intentions are as follows:

  • Expand the existing floor to be 16x16ft.
  • Add a Second Floor that is 16x16ft.
  • Add a loft for sleeping 3-4 feet above the second floor
  • Cut a 4x4ft square hole through both floors for an elevator that works based on pulleys and weights.
  • Run electricity, cable, and internet down from the house.
  • Completely insulate it.
  • Install a window A/C unit.
  • Use electric heaters with temperature gauges in the winter.
  • Drywall, paint.
  • Linoleum/Cheap Hardwood/Carpet.
  • And finally, furniture.

It's basically a loving house in some trees.

ANYWAYS. We're planning on laying out everything before we start on a computer, and doing actual structural stress tests to see if our design will be sturdy enough the way we build it. So yeah, anyone have any neat/cool ideas for us within reason? Also if anyone's experienced in construction, I'm sure we could use some points since none of us have really worked in that field before.

If you come up with a good idea within a reasonable amount of money, we'll do it.

Off Topic / Re: Why should I list the band before the song?

I'm really brown town about sorting my music. It's organized by folder, like:

C:\Users\Warren\Music\<Band>\<Album>\song.mp3

Actually, my entire computer is that neat.

Suggestions & Requests / Brick Laying Format Print Brick
« on: May 16, 2010, 07:57:14 PM »
Basically a 4x4 brick with the edges set up so it looks like 1x2s, 1x3s, 1x4s, and their plate counterparts in brick formation when paneled up.

Dimension views so you know what I mean:

XXXX

XXXX       X
XXXX       X
XXXX       X
XXXX       X

This would be really easy to do from what I can tell about blb coding.

I remember when I built the Star Destroyer for Block Wars in basically 1 night. I was listening to some PRETTY weird music, and was in a total trance. I'm surprised it actually turned out really well.

edit: also i never played the demo because i tried it out with this stuffty pirated beta version thing which actually let you play online with people who also pirated it. Luckily it sucked just enough to make my friends and i end up buying the game.

and no, it doesn't work any more, and i don't even know if it still even exists.

i loving hate badspot, and i'm REALLY pissed about him disabling my key, but i'm still afraid of him, so i'm gonna compliment his game because i think he actually cares about my stuffty opinion. oh yeah, and when i say i'm not complaining, it's to deter you from the fact that i'm complaining too much.

In Guild Wars 2, our event system won't make you read a huge quest description to find out what's going on. You'll experience it by seeing and hearing things in the world. If a dragon is attacking, you won't read three paragraphs telling you about it, you'll see buildings exploding in giant balls of fire, and hear characters in the game world screaming about a dragon attack. You'll hear guards from nearby cities trying to recruit players to go help fight the dragon, and see huge clouds of smoke in the distance, rising from the village under siege.

okay i want it. :cookieMonster:
