Development / Re: 2013/10/03 - Steam Status
« on: November 04, 2013, 09:00:22 PM »
i dont want workshop because i don't want to have to use steam to check if there's an add-on there that's not anywhere else. rtb is fine, and it's made specifically for blockland.

what kind of stupid spam thread is this? just a dumb excuse to make your post count go up. if you're going to "sing" it, actually record it and mash it together. at least that might be funny.

"Technic" Bricks- This is why the Add-On system exists. Entirely possible via modification.
i really hope you're kidding. i highly doubt someone could actually make a well functioning technic system through an add-on. sure, it "could be made" with an add-on, but it wouldn't function NEARLY as well as it would if it was made by badspot with actual engine support for it. you know what technic is, right?

"Flying" Builds- While possible, entirely pointless. How would it know that your Fighter Jet isn't supposed to fly like a Magic Carpet?
a GUI to determine flight properties? preset options? chassis bricks? engine bricks? hover bricks? what kind of horrible excuse is this. there's tons of ways to determine how a brick-built vehicle should fly. this is probably the stupidest reason not to have good buildable vehicles.

I hope kitchen is almost exactly to scale. i guess bedroom one is fine because if you want super accurate you can use demians, but theres no kitchen build yet so i hope this one (probably the only one we'll get) is really accurate

Off Topic / Re: College - Is it worth it?
« on: November 02, 2013, 01:26:41 PM »
do you not know of how college works? have you yet to find out about the hidden SECRETS behind the institution? it's just a big scam. colleges pay companies to only hire people with degrees, making it so students are forced to invest a bunch of money into an education that doesn't come close to what you spend on it. all colleges are owned by maybe 2 or 3 large corporations, but they are each labeled differently so you think you get a better deal at some. in the end, the money goes to the same people. it's a genius scam

Lil' something I'm working on..
do you think you could make it cull faces that aren't seen? like if two 1x1 bricks are stacked, the top face of the bottom brick wouldn't be created. this would really help for making brick vehicles

not close to whatever bullstuff you're spouting, but it's still a decently significant cost. You are a god damned loving idiot.  How do you suspect a person is going to get these things without some form of income while the game is in development?  A dead person also cannot develop video games.
can you link some?

this guy did it and he didn't need to ask people to donate to his kickstarter page. maybe he decided to work another job to actually support himself instead of asking for money from the public.

it's called not basing your entire career on a game that isn't even guaranteed to make money. if i'm funding a kickstarter, i'd expect my money to go towards actually developing the product, not paying for the house because the developer doesn't have an actual career.

ides worth a damn cost money
can you link some? are they in the price range where you'd need $100,000 to purchase? why can't I just use a free one?
places to live cost money, meals.  The devs don't live in their parent's basement.  They're adults.
i do not see why you are bringing these things up because they do not affect the cost of a game. they are relevant in life for just about everyone who is an adult, this isn't a cost that should be factored in to making a game because it is unrelated to the game. these things don't make making games "expensive".

By the way, games aren't cheap to make.
can't you just download a c++ compiler and some libraries and start making a game? how does that cost money?

just finished item quality. the quality of an item can affect how it performs. when it comes to smithing items now, people won't just be smithing the same thing. this will make it important to find a skilled smith so you can get higher quality items.

you can also name your weapons. you can choose a name upon smithing it, or use a naming stone on the weapon. once named, an item cannot be renamed, so the weapon will have a history of its own.

you will not be limited to a class, but you will be able to choose a starting class "path" when you join to get a boost in what you might want to be. If you pick the swashbuckler path, you might start with some fast combo skills and a swift sword, and if you pick the cleric path, you might start with a staff and some healing spells. these paths only give you initial boosts so you can get started forming a style that fits your interest.

you could be a jack of all trades, but it takes much more time than specializing in something. you would have to make more trades, loot more items, distribute resources over multiple crafts, and carry around many types of equipment. but say, if you want to specializing in being an archer/chef, you would only really need light gear and some cooking equipment, and you wouldn't be worried about collecting sword skills.
