General Discussion / 3D Blockland World Map
« on: March 09, 2010, 06:16:09 AM »
Yes, I know this is a rip-off of Kalphiter's thingy-majigy. But I thought it would be cool to see it in a 3d globe concept. It also loads fast once flash has downloaded and cached all the files.
It loads the master server's blockland server list and locates the servers to a certain point on earth. It shows a 3d marker on a 3d earth model in the location of the server.
http://zack0wack0.com/junkyard/blockland/worldMap/BlocklandWorldMap.swf

(my mouse is hovered over the token for Badspot's server, my print screen just hid the mouse)
Important Notes:
Only servers with internet service providers that supply longitude and latitude points will be displayed.
Hover over markers to see the server name.
Use the arrow keys to rotate the globe.
Use page up and page down to zoom in and out. Zooming out will make the markers go in the water occasionally, this is a bug with the 3d engine I used for flash - I have no idea how to fix it.
The download may take a while simply because I had to model a sphere with a lot of faces instead of generating it (generating the sphere makes it have like 12 sections - which looks absolutely horrible as the earth). There's no preloader - but it shouldn't take longer then 5 minutes.

General
!- = dislike
!- not much is different from other mmorpgs but it's still enjoyable
 - you start off as a novice class and don't choose your path until level 5 (easy to reach) so you can learn the game
 - easy controls
 - easy interface
 - day and night cycle
 - decent graphics, however scrappy in places
 - mobs drop weapons reguarly, they don't just drop stuff you never use
 - chests and similar stuff that you can break for items
 - autopathing system but I dislike using it because it wrecks game experience
 - classes can specialize on different weapons
 - there very diverse cities that you can go to when you start off - you aren't bound by class
 - sprite system is very original and creative
 - awesome faction system and reputation system that interact with each other - you do quests for factions and get rep with them. You need rep to get certain things, and getting heaps of rep gets you good rewards
 - map-bosses - each area in "Saphael" has bosses that you defeat in quests
!- really loving strong bosses that pop out of no where
!- you can get confused at the start
!- hard to get into the storyline but once you are you can understand it easily
!- limited character customization however all characters are detailed
!- some translations haven't been finished and occasionally you notice dialog forgetups (like every mmorpg really)
Pets (Sprites)
 - they tell you what to do if you're stuck
 - You can summon them and they give good buffs (you buy "emblems" which give them more buffs) and they collect drops for you
 - there are sprite classes, each can gather different raw materials and craft different stuff
 - gathers raw materials depending on their class
 - craft items depending on class - best way to get set items aswell, you can craft them for a lot less then they are sold for
!- they are really moody lol. They constantly get sad but they get excited heaps aswell. You can buy potions to increase their mood level which basically increases their work rate
Quests
 - they actually give good experience unlike other mmorpgs where you have to monster grind
 - repeatable quests level you up and get you good money
 - the rewards don't absolutely suck
!- quests are generic, but its fun to kill map bosses

Players
*(Blockland Name) Character Name - Server - Class and Weapon Skill and Level*
(Destiny) Zeravia - Alice - Level 21 Priest using Staffs
(LoserHero) Shonnn - Alice - Level 20 Priest using Hammers
(Tails) Hebias - Alice - Level 20 Warrior using Sword / Shield

Gallery / (BLS2OBJ) Blockland Save Renders -Image Heavy-
« on: February 23, 2010, 06:18:19 AM »
So if you didn't know, I've been working on a Blockland save to (.obj wavefront) a 3d model format converter for the past weeks. I've finally got it finished to near perfection (the conversion needs to be sped up - colored bricks or trans bricks don't work). Check out these renders I've done in a free program called Kerkythea.

Normally I would of got Wookiee to do them (he has really good rendering software and is good with it), but his net got fried so I'm doing them until his net resets.
If you want your own build rendered, post the save file. Huge save files (250kb+) will take the program up to 5-15 minutes to convert and I'm not going to render big ones unless I think they're good so post a link to an in-game screenshot.

I'm not giving the program out yet.

EDIT: The round bricks get forgeted up - it's just how the rendering program works, the models are fine.

Please stop putting a scraps together and calling it a decent model. All of your models look horrid.

Examples of models that he attempted to defend as being decent:
Never mind, I got a model though.

I am fitting a request. Not my fault it doesn't "Fit With Blockland"

Hurr if it's a request he wants it in Blockland, which generally means it should fit in with Blockland.
Then leave this topic if you think a gun with one texture (meaning it is not finished) is "Teh n00byest ting en te wrld!!!11!!!!111111!!!!11one!!11111!!!one!!." Also, if you think my gun is bad, then the picture I copied it off must be bad.
I am making a model that doesn't fit your standards. I am modeling a gun that doesn't fit your standers. So, leave this topic, you are of no help.

Got it!

Ew.
Horrible excuse:
It's what he suggested.

If you can't successfully re-texture a  map, you shouldn't make add-ons.
YOU shouldent make models..
they all suck.
every thing in red is what is bad about your model

pluse it might be just me but like all my other addons they crash people.
Because the only way you know how to model is by shoving shapes together.
Learn to model.
That is how I choose to model. I can fix it but, to tell you the truth, I am extremely lazy.
People who are lazy shouldn't be modeling.
Stop being this rooster of a modeler.

Accept that shoving shapes together isn't proper modeling.
I accept that, but what do I do instead?
HURRR
Vertex by vertex. Or learn to extrude and deform like everyone else.
You are so ignorant.
It's comical.

Continue modeling like a buffoon.
I'll only start caring when you release models with 40k polys.

Modification Help / Minigame Events - Strange processInputEvent issue
« on: October 30, 2009, 01:47:02 AM »
I'm getting a strange error when attempting to process the "onMinigameReset" input event. This is the code that I used (note: the echo I added to debug):
Code: [Select]
if(getMinigameFromObject(getBrickGroupFromObject(%brick)) == %mini)
{
if(%mini.useAllPlayersBricks)
{
echo("(Use All) Brick: " @ %brick @ "\nPlayer: " @ %client.player @ "\nClient: " @ %client @ "\nMinigame: " @ %mini);
$inputTarget_Brick = %brick;
$inputTarget_Player = %client.player;
$inputTarget_Client = %client;
$inputTarget_Minigame = %mini;
%brick.processInputEvent("onMinigameReset",%client);
}
else if(!%mini.useAllPlayersBricks && %brick.client == %mini.owner)
{
echo("(Owner) Brick: " @ %brick @ "\nPlayer: " @ %client.player @ "\nClient: " @ %client @ "\nMinigame: " @ %mini);
$inputTarget_Brick = %brick;
$inputTarget_Player = %client.player;
$inputTarget_Client = %client;
$inputTarget_Minigame = %mini;
%brick.processInputEvent("onMinigameReset",%client);
}
}
And this is what happens when I trace the event being processed:
Code: [Select]
     Leaving MinigameSO::reset() - return 8450
      Entering getBrickGroupFromObject(8399)
      Leaving getBrickGroupFromObject() - return 7177
      Entering getMinigameFromObject(7177)
      Leaving getMinigameFromObject() - return 8450
      (Owner) Brick: 8399
Player: 8536
Client: 7175
Minigame: 8450
      Entering SimObject::processInputEvent(8399, onMinigameReset, 7175)
         Entering getQuotaObjectFromClient(7175)
            Entering getQuotaObjectFromBrickGroup(7177)
               Entering verifyQuotaNumber(1000, 10, 1000, 50)
               Leaving verifyQuotaNumber() - return 1000
               Entering verifyQuotaNumber(9999, 10, 9999, 100)
               Leaving verifyQuotaNumber() - return 9999
               Entering verifyQuotaNumber(1000, 5, 1000, 25)
               Leaving verifyQuotaNumber() - return 1000
               Entering verifyQuotaNumber(1000, 5, 1000, 25)
               Leaving verifyQuotaNumber() - return 1000
               Entering verifyQuotaNumber(5000, 20, 5000, 100)
               Leaving verifyQuotaNumber() - return 5000
               Entering verifyQuotaNumber(10, 0, 500, 10)
               Leaving verifyQuotaNumber() - return 10
               Entering verifyQuotaNumber(5, 0, 200, 5)
               Leaving verifyQuotaNumber() - return 5
            Leaving getQuotaObjectFromBrickGroup() - return 8538
         Leaving getQuotaObjectFromClient() - return 8538
      Leaving SimObject::processInputEvent() - return 8399
   Leaving [Event_Minigame]MinigameSO::reset() - return 8399
Leaving serverCmdResetMiniGame() - return 8399
I'm checked and there doesn't seem to be anything wrong - the brick does indeed have onMinigameReset input events set on it. All the input event's targets exist aswell. Yet, the brick's input events still are not processed.

What is wrong D:

He is really stupid. He calls every new release of RTB stupid then wonders why people rage at him.

« on: October 22, 2009, 12:23:36 AM »
Why do people always use drama as a verb? It makes no sense and makes them look completely stupid. It's not like you walk up to people and say "I'm policing you!" when you're going to report them to police, nor do you say "You need to get barbered." when someone needs a haircut. You definitely don't say "Hey, we should totally get brotheled."

Modification Help / Dedicated Minigame
« on: October 16, 2009, 05:53:34 AM »
A mod I made that allows you to type /dedicateminigame when you are the owner of a minigame, which toggles whether the minigame is dedicated. Dedicated minigames will not be destroyed when the owner leaves the minigame or the server. You can set it to admin only (on by default) in RTB. You can type /leaveminigame if you want to multiple minigames.

It's currently a bit buggy and hasn't really been tested with all game mode mods. If you find a bug, post the bug (or console error if you can) in this topic.

Download

Note: I'll probably post on RTB.com when I'm happy that it is bug-free.

Drama / Marcem - why are you always on your period?
« on: October 02, 2009, 08:48:42 PM »
I don't have any problems with you except the fact that you rage when there's really no reason to.

Examples of what I'm talking about:
THAT'S A REAL COMPLETE CHANGELIST YOU'VE GOT THERE.  Go away.  You aren't helping.  I want to know the not so obvious.

They MUST think of new features for every update?  Pixl, you get dumber every day.

YEP, MAKING A BURGER KING EMPLOYEE'S JOB EVEN WORSE IS A GREAT JOKE!

I didn't realize how many people here don't have common sense.

That's only some of his most recent posts. Seriously Marcem, you need to cool down a little.

Post badly done subtitles that you've heard.

I watched a copy of Pirates of the Carribean and there was one part that was hilarious.

What the Singapore captain said:
I understand that you have a request to make of me.
What the subtitles said:
I understand you have a request to make a baby. :cookieMonster:

Off Topic / Google Chrome Extensions
« on: September 20, 2009, 05:28:24 AM »
Hooray, the google chrome team finally made an extension system. It's currently in testing so if you want it to you need to switch to the developer channel. The extensions are easy to make, based in HTML and Javascript. They allow you to create toolbars, or mod the browser all together. To learn how to make your own, go here.

I played around with the system and I found it really awesome. So I made a Return to Blockland toolbar:

Download
(To install it just download it, it should automatically prompt you to ask if you would like to install it)
To manage your extensions go to chrome://extensions.

EDIT: The screenshot also shows a custom theme that I downloaded from the google website.

Modification Help / CodeBlock
« on: September 03, 2009, 02:04:28 AM »
I made a 'CodeBlock' section on my website (tutorials and snippets of code). You can view the TorqueScript section here.

I'm writing some cool Blockland tutorials, so I figured I'd post it here. I made a "Making a simple output event" tutorial which you can view there.
