Clan Discussion / Re: Clan[MotE]
« on: January 24, 2008, 09:59:56 PM »
oh, ive found plenty of floorplans for famous castles online. most of them are in england. i like to draw, so i use them for refrence. :)

even if your drawing an exterior, it helps to have the floorplan to get a better idea of the shape. :)

Clan Discussion / Re: I am looking for a clan.
« on: January 24, 2008, 07:26:51 AM »
well, most people here are probably going to be rather biased answering that question, since theyre either 1.)already in a clan and theyre going to plug the one they represent 2.)they dont care about clans, so they wont even post, leaving only the plugs. lol

my advice is wait, lurk, and see. :) even with recommendations, theres no way you can know what youre getting yourself into without seeing it for yourself. :)

thats what im doing. im eyeballing MotE, but i just havent seen enough of their stuff to know what its like, and if i really like it. so im waiting. :)

yes, this is verrry plain and simple, but i like it because its clean and well executed. its tasteful.

i agree with the others, i cant wait to see the rest of your stuff. if you can make something the simple look this good, i can wait till you start making castles and pagodas and military bases and stuff... hehehe

Oh, sorry Pickle. I edited it

Ephi, I'm not going to continue this argument. It's pointless and it's spamming MrPickle's topic. If you still have points to make I'll be with friends on the MotE server.
Too bad more people didn't have that mindset.
amen

anyway, Mr Pickle, this is a nice build, i like how you got the shape of the ship using the ramps. i think its well done. if you look at the detail, its nice, but its not really that ingenius or impressive, and i wouldnt have used it as an app. lol

but i look forward to seeing more stuff from you in the future, you have a way with geometry. :)

i like this guy's brain. :)
I like his creativity [/lolpun]
haha. very punny.

...roman statues...
Like the tower of Pisa, Colosseum and so on?
...and the parthenon (thats been done a million times before)
but yeah, roman and gothic architecture is some of the best in history. :) theyd be great models to follow. :)

itd also be fun to build historic castles, based on actual floorplans, dont you think? :)

General Discussion / Re: Hello, may I have some tips?
« on: January 23, 2008, 11:00:52 PM »
well, on the Add-ons forums, there are some sticky threads that have a complete list of the best add-ons. :)

as far as downloading new vehicles, theyre fun, yeah, but not really a big deal. they all drive around, just in different ways. X-D

there are also lots of types of guns and weapons

i would highly reccomend you download anything made by SpaceGuy like "Wrench Events", "Team Deathmatch", and the "Portal Gun". all his stuff is high quality and usually end up becoming major parts of the game that everyone uses. heres his website: [a href="http://spacemods.googlepages.com/download"]link[/a]

the [a href="http://www.blockland.us/smf/index.php?topic=20652.0"]Zombies Mod[/a] is also alot of fun.

if you just hang around the forums enough though, youll get a good idea of whats cool and whats not, and you can decide for yourself.

hope i could help! :D

AND I WAS YOUR SECOND IN COMMAND! hahaha...

you know, if you ever do this again, you will need imperial guards. (the red guy)

theyre always flanking the emperor or darth vader in a group of 4 or 6, and the bright red looks really cool against the black and white of everyone else. hehe

Suggestions & Requests / Re: Different method for entering vehicles
« on: January 23, 2008, 03:21:22 AM »
Just have a symbol that looks like a jeep in the CI style that pops up in the corner, that way you know you can enter a vehicle and you don't have to waste time by instinctively reading the text.
haha. amazing. XD

reading words takes 500mili synapses in the brain, while recognizing images takes only 180mili. haha

its like saving brain bandwidth. hahaha... are you by any chance a computer programmer or networking consultant? hehehehe

anyway, this might be a good idea.
the only thing wrong with the current system though, is that you get injured upon entry, and even if you touch a static vehicle. i like vehicle damage, but i think it should be modified so that it only hurts you if the vehicle is moving.

damage could also be proportionate to its speed, so that a zooming fast speeding car would kill you on impact, but if someone is just lazing by in a jeep, and they graze you, then you just get slightly hurt.

Ideas seem to be running pretty simple lately..

Think of something that would be impossible to build. And try and build it :D

Anyways, I've always wanted to see a Russian style built, with the tear drop roof things :P

An underground city could be interesting, maybe even an underwater build lol. Maybe even a city thats designed large enough you can actually have some sweet street races in, think need for speed, then you just set up different pilon Combinations to make different tracks, with secret paths, jumps and such.

I always wondered if someone would build that actual inside of a computer, big enough that a small city could be built inside :P

on a side note, Can anyone build good statues? like large scale. I'm just wondering, cause a statue of liberty, or different roman statues could really add to a modern/roman city style :)
i like this guy's brain. :)

in order of pics:
yes
yes
yes
yes
YES! 8-)

these are epic! :) very dramatic. you make very good use of environment and emitters. you even take artistically tasteful photos! XD that can make a dumb build look good, and a good build look amaaazing! :D

did you make all those trees too? :)

Suggestions & Requests / Re: Hostage Mini game
« on: January 23, 2008, 01:05:06 AM »
It'd be better if you just made the hostage spawn in a room with a door he can't open. This way, you can still move around and have a chance to escape if a Captor enters the room.

(reduces the boredness part)

good idea. then put a Wii in the room with the hostage so he can play while hes waiting to be rescued/killed

General Discussion / Re: Game guides

clue: if youre brand new to a community like this one, and if you want to make a good impression on people in order to get help, its probably not a good idea to suggest that the forums might really suck (which also implies that the users of the forums suck...).

just an idea.

if by guides, do you mean tutorials and the like? well, theres not much to learn in the game itself that you cant learn from the tutorial thats built in the game. most everything is basically building. its up to you to have the ingeniuty and creativity to build stuff that is cool. :)

you can also learn alot by just playing around in servers with other people online.

the first time i played on a server with other people. i learned that you could build lines of things faster by holding down the enter button then holding down the up or down or side button. :) i used to move the block over a few times, then press; over and over and over, it was really slow. but by simply interacting, i learned something new! ^___^

so its good to get out there and just try stuff out! experience is the best teacher, and we were all n00bs once. ;) hehehe

good luck. hope to see some cool stuff from you! :D

I'm not saying that these forums or the people of these forums sucks, the people here seem to be really friendly and helpfull and I've always gotten a quick response to anything I've posted. But I'm just saying that the search feature sucks cause it doesn't seem to work very well.

okay, well, yeah. maybe... :)

The reason I asked if there were any guides is I was wondering what kind of things there are to do other than building and I was just looking for tips beyond the basic building techniques that the tutorial covers.
For example is there any way to make custom blocks ? And what does the wrench do ?
I've also seen vehicals in some pics and I was wondering how to get vehicals and how to use them ? Those are the kind of things I was wondering about. And I was just asking if there was some place or something that covered some of these topics so I didn't have to post in the forums for every little question that I have.
wow, you are new! :D

well, those are just some basic things that you will learn if you just fool around with the program enough. thats how i learned. :)

okay, so the wrench is for editting bricks. you build a brick, hit it with the wrench, then a menu will appear giving you cool options that you can use to make your bricks lovey! :D

then vehicles are made with a special brick called a "vehicle spawn". you simply build it, then use the wrench to choose which vehicle you want, then jump on top of it to ride! :D
