Off Topic / So I'm recording a song with my brothers right now
« on: November 26, 2010, 09:04:17 PM »
I walked into my brother's room tonight and said "Hey, do you know the whole guitar part for Details In The Fabric?"

"Yeah. Why?"

"Lets go record it, right now. I'll do Morrison's part."

"Okay."

And so, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XdIw6tEjyEg ("Details In The Fabric" by Jason Mraz, Featuring James Morrison)

My brother Charles is doing the main vocals by Mraz and the guitar part, and I'm doing Morrison's part and background vocals, and other stuff thrown in there. My older brother Alex is mixing and compiling.

This will be on youtube tonight probly.

You get to hear me sing like a dying rat. Whooo!

Discuss.

Off Topic / Christmas
« on: November 24, 2010, 08:23:32 PM »

Take time to read this carefully and prepare for some fond memories.

Normally I'm not good at getting into the Christmas mood. I usually don't actually get that lovely warm feeling inside until around December 20th, when I start to get really excited. But today I managed to have the memories just drop in out of nowhere.

I was browsing around Google images looking for a good wallpaper that had some blue in it. I came across a neat little wallpaper with a snowy mountain. Then it hit me, I searched on images for a snowy wallpaper. I found this.

As soon as I saw it the nostalgia just poured in.

I thought of the previous winters I've had, the snow would go up to 2-3 feet at times. It was brutally cold out, we couldn't see far because of the falling snow and when it stopped, the whole world was just silent. Snow muffles every single sound that you hear. It creates it's own insulation. When you think of that, when you can't hear anything despite being in a massive forest filled with various animals, you know it's Christmas. You know you'll be heading to relatives houses, you know you'll be having some tasty turkey dinner. You know that your parents will be filming you when you open some of those perfectly wrapped gifts under the tree. You know you'll be hanging up lights on your house, you'll be decorating the Christmas tree. You know you'll go tobogganing with your friends, and you know you'll walk home with your nose dripping and your snowpants soaked in snow, and you'll come home to some fresh, warm hot chocolate.

But most of all, you know you'll be writing your goddamn Christmas list and posting it on this thread right here! How joyful.

Some of you have never actually experienced snow, some of you may have seen it once or twice. Up here in Canadia it snows every winter. We've grown fond of it, and we love it to pieces.

Discuss many things: Firstly your wishlist, fond memories of winter and Christmas itself, and how forgetin' excited you are, just like every year.

I don't care if it's too early to post this thread. I love Christmas. :)

This game is tons of fun. The main thing I like about it is the accuracy on how it detects your hands for steering. There is no auto-steering at all. The sensor detects every movement of your hand and the experience is lifelike.

Really, there is no auto-steering. Honest.

Really. None.

Off Topic / Play! A Video Game Symphony
« on: November 22, 2010, 01:51:20 AM »
http://www.play-symphony.com/

Basically a huge symphony orchestra that does tours and gets huge amounts of money because all they play is music from video games.

And it's so loving worth it to listen.

Not only does the music sound fantastic, but it's quite close to the original. There are a few mishaps here and there but it's still good.

Here are a few examples of ones that I enjoy:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2unSXEPyYKQ - The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (Holy forget JIZZ IN MY PANTS)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Op7MGTvsxHg - Battlefield (Wonderful! I love it :D)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kc5Qfrt53Lg - World of Warcraft (Very awesome, althought I've never seen/played)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W5tDlY2d01s - Guild Wars (Amazing)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fAdk5Qx-AkM - Kingdom Hearts (Sounds fantastic)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Da20AYQc_5w - Silent Hill 2 (Never player/seen, but it's still good)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WBqjgz_raKY - Halo (Not for me, but other hardcore Halo fans will enjoy)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGIpMaPZIYM - Super Mario (Not just awesome, but hilarious)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IPSI-2JC8rs - Legend of Zelda (loving gorgeous)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DpecaI60nRA - Metal Gear Solid (Cooooooooooool)

Also: Does not deserve to go in Games because the thread is about an orchestra, not just video games

Off Topic / Lady Macbeth is a loving psychopath
« on: November 19, 2010, 07:14:15 PM »
I swear to god.

Doing some homework on Shakespeare's "Macbeth", there is one point in the story when Lady Macbeth is trying to convince her husband, Macbeth, to kill the king so that he (the feign of Cawdor) can become king.

She says (in modern english), that if he doesn't go through with it, she will take her breastfeeding baby and bash it's skull in.

Seriously what the forget.

Profile.
Posts.

This is just brutal now.

First, he completely steals the name of my old group (HB) and changes it to "<HB>". Then, after I just got sick of it, he finally changed it to "HBC" even though it makes no sense as an acronym. After I closed HB, I specifically stated that nobody was to remake, overtake or reuse HB and it's content at all.

So he goes right ahead and does this, he completely steals the boarder artwork, icons, layout and even the loving text that I put in. All he did was change the words "HB" to "HBC".

This kid is an inconsiderate little forget and does not deserve to be respected at all on these forums. What he did can be classified as theft, and he deserves punishment of some sort.

Smart internet computer.

Basically you can ask it some interesting calculations. Here are a few good examples to ask it:

  • Where am I?
  • How are you?
  • What are you?

You can also ask things like:

  • What is Microsoft?
  • What is Apple Inc?
  • What is Hewlett-Packard?

And many other things. This thing is basically replacing Wikipedia in a way.

Go ahead, ask it some stuff. Ask it if it's gay. Ask it if it has a gender. Anything at all.

Also, if you're looking for a Blockland article, it hasn't added quite a few things yet, because well, ask it how old it is. It's quite new and some stuff is missing. Email them and ask them to add an article for Blockland if you want.

General Discussion / The Blockland icon is a little nicer on the mac...?
« on: November 15, 2010, 12:43:50 AM »

Anyone else notice this?

The icon for the dock on the Mac is far nicer than the oh-so-pixelized icon on the PC. I do believe that with the next update, the icon on the PC should be identical to the mac's dock icon.

Discussidness, also getting a picture on this silly laptop.

Off Topic / The 72 LED Watch - Popular Chinese Binary watch
« on: November 12, 2010, 08:41:27 PM »

What?

A while back, TomTheGeek showed me this freakin' awesome watch on this website called DealExtreme.com. I was completely amazed at the really low price and was super urged to buy it, so I did, and so far I love it. I get fantastic comments from people about it, that it's very retro and stylish, and futuristic.

When I got the watch, Tom was pissed at me because he was the one who showed me the watch in the first place, and he wanted me to buy him one. So I promised I would. I got it on December 3rd, and I'm shipping it the next day.

This thread is to discuss the awesomeness of this popular and incredibly cheap watch. It was converted from The Quest For Tom's Watch, after I ordered it.

What are the selections for the watch? (Colors, finishes, types)?

Silver Metallic with boarder, multicolor LED: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.24943

How the heck do you tell time with this thing?

It's called a "binary watch", and it basically shows the minutes in a stacking order.

People on the forums who got a watch

MackTheHunter has the Silver Metallic with Blue LED watch.
TomTheGeek has the  Black Metallic with Red LED watch.
