Off Topic / Tablets Discussion
« on: February 27, 2010, 12:16:37 AM »

I just got this thing.

It's my first tablet, and I must say I'm quite pleased with it. It's a Touch Pen tablet, meaning you can use it as a mouse with your fingers as well as with a pen. I'm currently using it as a mouse for web browsing and such, but when I'm playing games I just plop the mouse on top of it.

Drawing is fun, but the only annoying downside is that in some programs like Paint.NET and iScribble it has a 0.5 second delay when you begin to draw, which is a pain in the ass of course.

Anyway, discuss what tablet you have, what tablets you like etc.

Go.

Games / MackTheHunter's STARGATE Roleplay (Garry's Mod)
« on: February 23, 2010, 08:32:08 PM »

(Click for fullscreen)

" I hope you like interstellar travel, because it tickles."

ABOUT

So, I'm hosting the gates again. After reinstalling Garry's Mod and the Stargate Mod, I realized how damn fun it is to roleplay with them. The mod is fantastic; everything about it is awesome.

I'll be hosting quite a bit of it now.

PLACES TO GO

Find each gate code from here: http://www.chevron26.com/estart1.html

Remember that there are only 8 planets in total in this map.

Tollana

This is the default place where you start of as a traveller. You'll need to research a bit about the gate adresses before going through, otherwise you won't be heading anywhere.

Chulak

This is the homeworld of the Goa'uld race. It is a prison and camp area, with a large forest along with a relic shrine. The Goa'uld mothership orbits this planet.

You can use the Ring Transporter to get inside the prison as well as send prisoners into it.

Goa'uld Mothership/Hatak

This is the home base of the Goa'uld empire. It's a large ship with a working Stargate and ring transporters. This is the main home of the Goa'uld Lord.

Nox Homeplanet

This is a mysteriously small area... you might want to try exploring a bit.

Heliopolis

The abandoned ruins of what used to be a district of a lasting race. This area is unstable and attempting to make a gate connection can be disasterous.

Stargate Command (Earth)

This where Earth's Stargate lies. It is the home base for all SG operations on Earth, and is home to all SG-teams and the General of Stargate Command.

You may come here by request, simply contact General MackTheHunter (Via Radio in chat) and we will send you our gate coordinates (Depending on if you're an ally or not).

All other planets are secret.. You'll have to discover the adresses yourself!

Off Topic / Happy birthday to me, and yet, my present becomes bankruptcy
« on: February 22, 2010, 12:34:55 AM »

So it's my birthday.

And yet, I'm not as happy as I'm supposed to be. In fact, I'm far less than happy. I'm scared stuffless. And there's nothing I can do about it besides getting a job.

Earlier today I woke up and was informed that I would go get a haircut and then go birthday shopping with my dad, but while I was getting a haircut he was going to go and browse a local Home Depot for a few boards for the basement.

When he came back, without wood, I was confused. As I entered the car my dad said "Sorry bud, your birthday pretty much just got canceled."

My dad's bank account, visa and American Express cards are all empty. In fact, the visa and AA cards have around $-200,000 on them. My family is officially out of money.

We have to sell our house.

Either that, or every single family member gets jobs and pays off everything as soon as possible, but that may not even work.

My dad still went out and bought me a Belkin controller and headset as well as GTAIV, but that completely maxed out my mom's credit card as well as my Future Shop gift card.

So I'm pretty much in a

":C"

state right now.

Off Topic / New DIY creation: ChairDesk
« on: February 20, 2010, 11:36:47 PM »
So, this is the ChairDesk. My dad and I started and finished it tonight, made from scratch. We just bent a bar with a Metal Bender, bolted it to my chair, then mounted a pivot-able small desk (Made of wood, also from scratch) on it.

Fancy lookin', isn't it? :D

Now you may be thinking, with a small hollow bar supporting it, it's going to be wobbly. We solved that problem by adding an extra piece of wood with an indent we sanded into it, and it holds on to the chair arm very well.

Getting in and out of the chair is simple. The entire desk pivots out from the bar, as shown:

The ergonomics are AMAZING, it's comfortable and I can move the chair around while still being able to type and move the mouse. This is especially handy since I'm using a fancy entertainment cabinet as a desk (It goes with my room so well).

Discuss, rate out of 10, and enjoy.

If anyone is willing to build one I can provide them with plans and material listings.

QuickEdit: Forgot that MrCookie mentioned "How would you create cupholders for it?" well, first off I must state that I cannot have any food or drink in my room (My dad is incredibly afraid of spills and crumbs). But, there is plenty of space under the desk where you could build your own cupholder and mount it with screws. Although it is spill-prone due to the wobblyness when the desk is pivoted out.

Practicing some Formula 1 on rFactor. If you're wondering why I'm "Practicing", there are actual events hosted on rFactor that pay real money depending who wins a race. (Damit I can't find the original video, but there was an entire thing on this NASCAR event that people got like $50 for winning)

I'm just going to be practicing around probably the Nordschleife (in Nurburg, Germany) and possibly Montreal.

It will take around 8-15 minutes to do an entire lap of the track without crashing/spinning out. It's harder than you think.

I've also got a steering wheel and pedals set up, so I'll have a 2D mix going on so you can see me driving as well as the game.

Get goin, it's up.

Suggestions & Requests / ENBSeries HDR Plugin for Blockland
« on: February 14, 2010, 01:01:07 AM »
http://enbdev.com/download_en.htm

"ENBSeries is an HDR Plugin that was originally designed for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas™ but was eventually modified to work with other games, such as The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, rFactor, Resident Evil and many more. It supports a wide variety of games."

Think about this, HDR in Blockland.

Even though, it's damn LEGO, it would still be balls cool to run in Blockland.

Discussssss.

Off Topic / Against all odds, I return
« on: February 09, 2010, 06:07:22 PM »
She's back. :D

We got her running with a fresh install of Windows Vista Home premium. I managed to get the BIOS loadup screen running, got the BIOS reset to factory condition, and did a memory scan.

This was the total problem, down to it.
One stick of RAM (out of 4) was faulty. This did not allow my machine to load up. I disconnected one stick, and it wanted me to disconnect both so I did. It booted up with 2gb of RAM, went straight to the recovery center and installed windows. :D

So she's running, but see I can't exactly use it quite yet. When we did a total cleaning of the case from dust my dad had to remove the epoxy connecting the CPU to the main fan, so I can't use it without the risk of the CPU overheating and exploding! :D We have some of the epoxy laying around from previous "missions", so we're going to hunt for it while I let my baby rest.

I'll be back real soon, with all of my steam games back and running at full screen. I'll also be playing Blockland again, especially now that it's not running on a bullstuff mac.

Off Topic / Computer is hopefully getting fixed - Have a changelog
« on: February 07, 2010, 10:41:50 PM »
I'm going to get my PC fixed tomorrow or on Tuesday.

We discovered the problem, this leads down to it. WinLoad.exe is missing due to me attempting to reinstall windows and getting a BSoD half way through. Strange things happened to my BIOS so the entire machine does not boot up.

Our solution: First, we're going to get a SATA adapter to connect my hard drive to my iMac, and get all the data off of it and save it on the Mac. Then, we're going to take the entire box to Canada Computers (hurr canadian) and get them to clean of the corrupted partition of it (The other partition is HP's reinstall stuff. They did not supply a disc, jerks :C) and they will hopefully flash my BIOS for me.

Once that is done, we will ask them to test it for me with a monitor to make sure it will run, and then we will simply reinstall windows on it and throw my saved data back on it (like steam games and such).

Changelog from the Blue Screens and initial failure:

October 28th, 2009 - Installed a necessary NVIDIA driver for my 9500 (Non - integrated) that was for Vista Service Pack 1. At the time I had SP1.

January 4th, 2010 - Installed Windows Vista Service Pack 2. Forgot about the NVIDIA driver.

January 6th, 2010 - Got the first Blue Screen Of Death in the middle of playing Team Fortress 2 (Error was PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA). Thought it was caused from an overload on the game, so I restarted the machine. Got another BSoD when I attempted to load it up again. Eventually it loaded up with no problems.

January 7th, 2010 - Another BSoD short after waking up my computer. It had been on Sleep Mode all night. It began working again. Did an Avast! scan and found nothing. The following night Miga showed me Ubuntu and I tried it off the disc, but it did not allow me to run it due to my graphics card.

January 14th, 1020 - Computer finally blew out, got a BSoD every time it brought up the loading screen. Attempted to reinstall windows, when the partition formatting began it was at 1% when the BSoD returned and shut the machine down. It allowed me to boot it up for a few tries but gave me the error "WinLoad.exe was not found". Could not go into the reinstallation process again without getting a bluescreen. After the third try it stopped showing loadups, the BIOS was finished.

If you guys can find any main problems in that "Changelog", let me know. It will probably be VERY useful.

EDIT: We have tried resetting the BIOS with the jumpers on the motherboard, removing the CMOS battery and waiting, and using the Screwdriver technique. None worked.

Off Topic / Anglo - Saxon "Moon Runes" language
« on: February 03, 2010, 04:45:15 PM »
Hehe.

I accidentally taught myself this in grade 6, from a silly book I found called "Dragonology", it had the entire typeface on it. I used it to send messages that were written in Moon Runes to my friends and the teacher couldn't decode it. I later discovered that it is a simpler form of Anglo Saxon runes. Holy crap.

Go ahead and google the alphabet of it, if you want. I've made a quick message for you to decode, first person to do it gets +1 esnake points

Ready, set, go!
