Also, why is the guy on the left a friend?

Levi is a friend because he never shuts his goddamn mouth, he's tribal, he "enjoys watching children die", he starts every argument you can think of, he's a PS3 superfanboy, he thinks the Wii invented gaming, etc, etc

ide drive casing.

case closed.  :cookieMonster:

Hmm?

A little while back my Grandfather gave me a computer that belonged to my grandmother (who died of cancer in 2004), and he wanted me to recover the letters that she typed up on it as the machine was old and didn't boot up properly.

I managed to boot up the OS with DOS, it had Windows 3.1 installed on it. A few of you have seen me load it up on Livestream. Keep in mind back in the days of 3.1, there was no desktop, there was "Program manager". If you want to find out more about Windows 3.1, Google it.

Anyhoo, I opened the machine up to get a rundown of hardware specs. After unintentionally inhaling about 40 kilos of ancient cigarette smoke, I got a photo with my phone, sorry for the quality.

It's an AMI (American Megatrends Inc) machine, with some extra cards in there. The hard drive it came with was only 256 MB, according to my grandfather it was upgraded to a 639.9 MB hard drive later on in the 90's.

Close up of the hard drive:

Ever heard of a WD Caviar 2635? I suppose not.

Welp, I've gotta continue cleaning this thing up and then figure out a way to get the data off of it (No USB or network, just serial and VGA...) and maybe later on I'll post a full rundown of this old thing.

Its 10.04, havent gotten around to updating to 10.10 yet :p
But 10.04 is very good :)

LONG TIME QUOTE BUMP

Uhh, I suggest sticking with 10.04 until 11.04 comes out, because 10.10 won't have all bugs fixed until 11.04 comes out, and vice versa.

I'm doing some huge upgrades to the server and build tomorrow at around 3:00 PM Eastern to 10:30 PM. This means I'm becoming a forgetload more active.

This means you guys need to come and help.

This means we are progressing to the Christmas Party, witch will be an intense teamed DOGFIGHT.

Ok, well the reason I thought that was because Mack was in a clan called Bell.

http://www.bell.ca/home/

I know, Bell is a bunch of loving idiots, and everything we've done with them has been messed up. But Bell is the cheapest in Canada and we got a discount because my dad used to do networking for Bell.

Try it and tell us how it works.

Here's the problem: it costs my grandfather $35 for 5 GB of download/upload or whatever.

So trying to download and play Blockland on multiplayer with that thing will cost him about $100...

I recently installed a Bellâ„¢ Canada Turbo Hub for my grandfather (he lives in a rural area where standard wired broadband isn't available), the way it works is that it's basically a big cell phone with internet usage only. It just connects to the computer and sends a longrange Wifi signal to a nearby cellphone tower and uses that to get internet.

Out of complete curiosity, would it be possible to play a multiplayer game of Blockland with Mobile Broadband? Not that my grandpops is a hardcore gaming junkie, I was just curious as to if it would be possible or not, and how speeds would be with the Turbo Hub.

Please provide instructions on how to disable Stealth Mode, because I might try it in my router, as well.

It is on your router's control page.

Access it by typing your default gateway into the adress bar on your internet browser, then navigating on the website to find an "advanced network settings" page (since every router website is different I can't tell you specific instructions) and locate a setting called "Stealth Mode" or "Cloak Mode" or something regarding Ping, and turn it off.

Your router may be on Stealth Mode.

Stealth Mode is a setting on some routers that blocks ping. It usually turns on after a power failure, the router was reset, or the router crashed. If your ping on Blockland is "---", then it is most likely turned on.
