ABOUT

So, I'm hosting the gates again. After reinstalling Garry's Mod and the Stargate Mod, I realized how damn fun it is to roleplay with them. The mod is fantastic; everything about it is awesome.

I'll be hosting quite a bit of it now.

THE GATES

I've upgraded the code system. I will now display each code on the forums here.

Tauri (Earth) *P2X-3YZ*

This is where the Humans (SGC) stay. Many operations on the gate are performed here.

Abydos *P8X-973*

This is the homeworld of the Abydonians, a peaceful, non-agressive group who live inside the Pyramid.

Tok'Ra Homeworld *P34-65J*

The Tok'Ra have Goa'uld parasites in them, but they are completely against the Goa'uld empire created by Ra. They have a closely tied relationship with the Tauri, and are mostly secretive. Their homeworld has a secret area that only the Tok'Ra know of.

Tollana *P4X-378*

The Tolan race is an incredibly intelligent species that is known only to defend. They have never once attacked any lifeform. The Tollans are closely tied with Earth and are intelligent to the point that they built their own Stargate. Their version of the Stargate is smaller, lighter, almost indestructible and dials much quicker than a Milky way gate.

Othala *P8X-967*

This is the recreated home planet for the intelligent and endangered race, Asgard. This world is forbidden to everyone except Earth, which also has a close relationship to the Asgards.

Overloader World *PB5-926*

Annoyed by other races? Feeling like destroying an ENTIRE PLANET? Well here is your chance! With the Anubis™ Overloader world, you can create a Stargate Overloader and destroy an entire planet, IRIS OR NOT!

There are very few other worlds in the area, but some of them you may be able to contact through the Ring Transporters.

HOW TO OPERATE A STARGATE

It's quite simple.

WITH A DIAL-HOME DEVICE

This is an Offworld DHD (Dial-Home Device).

1. Approach the Dial-Home Device.

2. As you move your crosshair over the symbols, you will notice letters will appear on them.

3. Begin pressing the buttons (NOT the center orange button) to enter the adress you wish to go to (see above for adress codes).

4. After typing in your code, press the 7th digit, the Point Of Origin (The # symbol on the letters).

5. Press the center orange button.

6. Stand clear of the gate until it opens, as the "Kawoosh" (Or ejecting vortex) can kill you instantly if it hits you.

7. Walk through the Puddle (Wormhole) and you will be on another planet.

8. DO NOT walk back through the gate before it closes. If you do, you will disintegrate. Stargates are one-way only (On a single dial).

HOW TO GET STARGATES

THIS AREA IS VERY IMPORTANT. IF YOU DO NOT FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO JOIN THE SERVER.

1. Download the Garry's Mod Auto Updater. http://garrysmod.comoj.com/files/GMod_SVN_Updater_2.2.1.zip

2. Download, extract all files from the ZIP and run Gmod Auto Updater.exe

3. Go to the lower bar and locate your Gmod Addons folder (Usually C:/Program Files/Steam/Steamapps/[USER]/Garrysmod/Garrysmod/Addons

4. Then, in the upper window, maximize the "Model Packs" category

5. Check the box saying "PHX Pack" (If you already have this, don't bother).

6. Maximize the "Wiremod" category and download Wiremod part 1, 2 and 3 as well as Unnofficial Wire Extras (If you already have this, don't bother)

7. Maximize the "Stargate" category

8. Check these boxes: Stargate pack 1, 2 3 and 4, Stargate Extras, Stargate GDO, and  Mckay's Stargate Addon Pack

9. PRESS THE DOWNLOAD/UPDATE BUTTON

10. GET THE MAP HERE (NEW MAP!): http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/133322 (PUT THE FOLDER IN ADDONS)

11. GET THE SOUND UPGRADE (REQUIRED) HERE: http://www.garrysmod.org/downloads/?a=view&id=69626 (PUT Stargate AND Stargate_resources IN ADDONS)

12. Finally, Get Carter's Stargate Ultimate Pack (Modified by me for awesomeness) HERE: http://www.mediafire.com/?htgyoz0z20q - put all the folders from that into your Addon's folder (DO THIS AFTER YOU HAVE EVERYTHING ABOVE) and make sure it overwrites.

13. You're done. You now have all the addons to join the server.

No, not because it's in a beer-like bottle and NOT because I want to drink beer that badly (which I don't, beer tastes like piss), Jone's root beer is the finest I've ever tasted. :)

Hey guys. Pure awesomeness here.

Since it was a vanilla install and I though, what is there to lose if it screws up?

I downloaded the XP drivers and ran the installer in Compatibility mode for XP SP2, and ran as administrator. After it installed and rebooted, I saw that...

I had full resolution! :D

But I'm treating these XP drivers like a teeter-totter; I'm not downloading any games on here or adjusting ANYTHING.

Games / Game Booster

What is GameBooster?

Designed to help optimize your PC for smoother, more responsive game play in the latest PC games with the touch of a button, Game Booster helps achieve the performance edge previously only available to highly technical enthusiasts.

It works by defragmenting game directories, temporarily shutting down background processes, cleaning RAM, and intensifying processor performance. That means you can keep all the features of operating systems ready for when you need them, but turn them off when you are ready to get down to serious business – gaming.

Where can I get this holy grail for gaming?

If you're blind, look up silly.

What's your experience with Game Booster?

Ohmygodohmygodohmygod yaaaaaaaaay

Guys, this program works REALLY well. My FPS in Crysis increased from 25 to 40 with this fancy little thing turned on. Don't want to have to turn off Aero and remove your wallpaper to play a game? Use this. It really helps in gaming.

Now GO DOWNLOAD IT.

Notreallyedit: I dunno if this goes in Games or not  but it deserves it.

You can change the task bar back to the classic system...

Also I have no idea why you would hate the snapping.

I'm trying to get used to the fancy new minimizing system so I'm leaving it on. It is reliable but I'm just not used to it.

As for the snapping, it's a bit of a pain when I try to move a steam chat to the left side the screen and all the sudden it's huge.

But again, I'm trying to leave everything on to get used to it.

really? i've just noticed its a total whore when it comes to CPU usage, or RAM, or whatever, but thats because I don't have enough memory allocated/enough ram to be modern-friendly.

Yoo hoo!

Everyone shut the forget up about it. They are both operating systems and who gives a flying rat's ass which one is better.
This is my average RAM usage for Windows 7 (Playing games as well):

(Green is freed space and red is used space. Notice that 59% is free on average.)

When I had Vista installed, I was never able to get that little green bar above 30%. I'm quite pleased with 7 because my games run a bit quicker on it but at the same time I'm pissed because of Microsoft including stupid ass stuff such as the "Snap" feature and the new minimization bullstuff that I hate.

ANYWAY.

Back to the old machine now.

It's from 2005, and it came with XP Media Center edition 2005. Even that didn't run well on it, I could never get audio drivers for it.

Windows 7 says right now that the correct driver for display has already been installed. I have 32 bit colours, but still only able to go to 640x480 resolution. Sound is available and working for the first time (besides Ubuntu) on that machine.

1. Press "Start" button
2. Type in the search bar "Dxdiag" (Or in XP/lower, choose "Run" and type in "dxdiag" and press ok)
3. Go to tab that says "Display"
4. Read.

Off Topic / Windows 7 driver issues (BARELY SOLVED)
« on: July 01, 2010, 11:53:35 PM »
I installed Windows 7 on my bedside PC.

The problem is, the motherboard is an Intel D845PEMY with integrated graphics, and Intel says that they don't have any Windows 7 drivers for it. I am stuck at 256k colors at around 640x640 resolution. It sucks.

Does anyone know how I would get a driver update for this ol' hunk of junk? I've already looked around quite a bit.

I don't like Windows 7 because I'm hip, edgy, and unpredictable!

I don't want any windows system on my netbook. My brother's netbook is slow as stuff because he has 7 Starter on it.
