Netbooks are just glorified calculators.

Jut sayin'.

They are really good for web browsing.

What will you be using the laptop for? If you want to run blockland, you'll probably want to use windows.

Mainly web browsing. No games.

Gateway 10.1" Intel Atom N450 1.66GHz Netbook (LT2102H) - Red - $299 CAD

What it comes with:

Widows 7 Starter. Uh, no thanks.

What operating system should I put on it?

Well, I what I really want to put on it is , but I'm sure there are many other operating systems designed for netbooks that I could put on it.

big collection of photos that I've taken over the last 8 months or so. I always liked how when I held the forward button down on the camera it looked like everything was animated. I always intended to make various gifs but I never got around to it and it probably wouldn't have been a great idea anyway. finally I just decided to make a video out of it.

Judging by the animals, weather and city style, you live somewhere in northern US... you've got Cottontail rabbits, american robins, snow and a very canada-esque city. Am I correct?

Linux Mint is by far the best distro I've ever used, I use the USA/Japan (all free software) version. It's based off of Ubuntu (without all the stuff social networking), and runs on my Eee PC (701, 900 MHz) quite well.

Also, GNOME isn't a Linux distribution. It's a desktop environment for Linux.

I'm gonna try out Linux Mint for the gits and shiggles.

So me, my brother Charlie (ChuckTheArcher) and my friend Alex (Fellow cameraguy) were at McDonalds getting ice cream. Since it's dollar drink days during the summer, a bunch of black kids that looked thuggish walked in and got drinks for a dollar. About two minutes later one of the kids came back in asking for a refill (he must have drank it fast...) and the cashier said no, because you're not allowed with dollar drinks.

So this kid throws the empty-ish cup with ice in it at the cashier, walks out shouting "forget YOUUU, forget YOU." (Obvious troll) and then they left. A guy across the tables turned to us and said "That's why we don't allow mondays in society." I nearly pissed myself laughing.

So we're walking home, on the intersection of Taunton and Grandview, stuff WENT DOWN.



So basically we're at the forest-area when we start to see horns honking and tires screeching. The same kids from McDonalds j-walked across the street and a car honked at them, so they jumped out behind the car on the street and threw a skateboard at them. The car slammed to a stop, pulled a U-turn and this HUGE black guy came out. He walked around the back of his car, popped the trunk and pulled out a 35 inch-ish baseball bat. He started swinging at them, one kid blocked his swing with his skateboard and it made an aweful snap. Then, another guy pulled up and called the cops. As soon as a few came up the baseball guy got in his car and floored it away.

In seconds about six cruisers pulled up. We sat on a big green metal box thing (At the end of the green arrow on the map), watching, when two cruisers pulled up to us and the drivers hopped up. They asked questions on what we saw, what went down. They got our phone numbers as we watched all the kids involved get cuffed, when I asked why they were being arrested, apparently they were all under the influence (drunk as a skunk).

I sent this exact same map to the Durham Regional Police this morning. They emailed me back saying thanks.
