Help / Re: Program reverted back to Demo mode... missing key
« on: December 05, 2009, 11:41:08 AM »
RTB doesn't (shouldn't in your first case) enable when Blockland is in Demo Mode since it connects using your BL_ID to identify you...

Well, I had an activated version to begin with... then out of nowhere it suddenly turned back into a Demo and I had to resupply my key. I haven't gotten the problem since, so I'm going to just consider it a one-time programing fluke. :)

I don't share my key with anyone else, perhaps it was merely a temporary bug since it doesn't seem to happen anymore. I'll post again if it ever does, since I didn't have to reinstall anything to fix this... just re-enter my key.

As for the external hard drive... I lost all my data on it. T_T

Now Blockland keeps going back to Demo mode every time I exit. Should I reinstall or will that not help?

Alright, thank you very much for your help. I just hope I can figure out what happened to my external hard drive... I'd hate to lose everything on that. ; - ;

Thank you... is there a way to change this email address once I finish doing this?

Help / Program reverted back to Demo mode... missing key
« on: November 25, 2009, 03:06:35 PM »
I started up Blockland today, and it opened like it should... but for some reason, the thing was asking me to put in a key. RTB was functioning so I figured I may just have to restart my computer...

So I restarted, tried again... only same result except RTB went missing. I figured this would be an easy fix since I had my key saved on an External HDD, so I plugged it in... and it was completely empty. D:

So now I don't have my key anymore, and I'm wondering if this problem can be fixed without re-inputting my long lost key. If not, is there something that can be done to resend me my old key? (I once had it on my Virginia Tech email account, and now that I'm not a student there... I can't access it, but I think it was long erased due to spam flooding the account)

Help / Re: [FIXED] Blockland v13 now runs on Snow Leopard (Mac OSX 10.6)
« on: November 20, 2009, 10:54:55 PM »
Upgrade to 10.5 or 10.6.  I know it sucks but you signed on for this bullstuff when you bought a macintosh.

I figured that may be what the case is. She doesn't really want to upgrate to Leopard yet, mostly from upgrading costs and personal preference... which I'm not sure is the best case for Mac, I figured it's similar to my XP > Vista preference.

I appreciate all the hard work you've done already, Badspot... so she and I are just going to sit on our hands until hopefully the fix is implemented in v14. We're pretty busy with school work until mid-December anyways, so maybe we'll work something out with another Windows PC in the meantime. :)

Does it create a console log? Or does it crash before it even makes one?

All I saw that happened is that the Blockland icon appears in the little Mac's task bar for a second and then disappears.

Resurrecting this thread to post a similar issue:

My girlfriend's Mac uses OS version 10.4.11, and she has tried running both the versions from the main download page and the ones created within this thread. All have failed starting up, the program will immediately crash upon opening without any error messages.

I'm not much of a Mac person, so I can't really tell what the problem is; either it's Blockland or it's her Mac, but v12 worked without any issues in the past. I'd appreciate any suggestions and advice that can be offered. Thanks!

He seems like such an important guy, and I'd hate to bother him with something so silly as a stubborn stepfather's speculations...

11
if I could get Badspot's input, then I think I might win this argument. Truly the creator of the game would know everything there is to know about it, right? Right.

I appreciate everyone who's helped me so far... I've learned a lot of things that will help me when I finally just decide to screw with the router myself... as long as I'm able to do these things:

-reset the router
-set up ports
-set up SSID
-reset security so the router is secure once again (I'd love some help with this step!)

He's got eyes like a hawk, so I should be careful.  :cookieMonster:

Here's what he did... he went to the Timken guys and asked them, and here's what he gave to me on a piece of paper...

"Port Forwarding

-Must be Pt to Pt to Fixed IP Address on PC
-Exposes that PC directly to Internet
-Traffic on any open port will come through to that PC
-If Firewall at PC client does not close ports, they will be vulnerable
-Any infection could spread to other PCs on the home LAN"

So yeah... I'm not sure what to say/do now :[

well he works for upper management of the Timken co... he said he's going to ask some of the techy guys who work there. I just hope they set him straight... since he was a computer science major like me. =/

I mean, as long as I use those ports for Blockland only... I shouldn't have a problem, right? Goodness.  :panda:

he's insisting that he's right. He thinks that all of his and my mom's personal data on their computer is at risk if I open the ports, because we all share the same wireless router, and internet connection (I think I said that right).

This might just be an inferiority complex. I can't wait to get my own place next year =_=
