General Discussion / Blockland Help- Blockland Video Guides
« on: May 05, 2011, 11:23:34 PM »
Curse me and my inability to consistently make videos. Anyway....

With these videos I hope to increase people's understanding of how to play Blockland. So far I have a few videos. I am going to add more videos as time progresses and could use some suggestions of what to make videos of. If you could leave suggestions of what to do, that would be great.
Videos are more organized on the site.

Wiki Game Guides is a community gaming site focused on strategy guides, walkthroughs, and anything else you need to beat a game. It combines both authored content and wiki content which gives content producers full control over their guides as well as allows anyone to post if they just want to add a quick tip.

Created by the founders of NextGenWalkthroughs.com, WikiGameGuides.com is the successor of NGW. Built from the ground up, it offers a much richer user experience than was ever possible on NGW. Founders ExplicitD and Beer_Baron will continue to make guides for WikiGameGuides.com and their podcast, 2 Chimps on a Davenport.

To add a game:
"On the "Create Game" page, there are 4 main boxes you need to fill out:
Game Name
Platforms
Genres
Developer (optional)
Publisher (optional)
Original US Release Date (optional)
Body"-FAQ

To Add A Guide:
"Go to the game you want to make a guide for. (If the game doesn’t exist yet click here)

In the left navigation box for that game click Guides. (If there isn’t a Guides link you must add a guides list. On the Game Home Page, scroll to the bottom and click "Add Guide List". Enter the name of the Game in the auto-fill box and select the correct game from the dropdown list. Click Save.)

On the bottom of the guides list, there is a button that says "Add Guide".

This page will be the main page of your guide.
- In the Title field, write the title of your guide e.g. Veteran Difficulty Walkthrough
- In the Game Name field start typing the name of the game and it should come up. You must choose the correct game, or else your guide won’t show up.
- There is a drop down for Percent Complete, if you aren’t making the guide all at once.
- Check any radio buttons that apply for the Guide Details.
- Check radio button for the Guide Type.
- In the body you can put whatever you want, it will be the main page of your guide.
- You could post your whole guide, the basics about the game, or links to other pages in you guide

Once you made your main page, you can make sub-pages. You can make as many sub-pages as you need. For example you could make a sub-page for World 1, and sub-pages under that for levels within World 1.

To make sub-pages, click Add Guide Sub Page on the page you want it under.
For example, if you want to make a page for World 1, you click Add Guide Sub Page on the main page of your guide. If you want to make a page for Level 1 within World 1, you click Add Guide Sub Page on the World 1 page.

Each Sub-Page will need to be given a Title. It will also need to be linked to the correct game. Once you create a sub-page, it will go into a moderation queue to make sure it is linked to the right guide.

The Body field is where your guide goes. You can add text, pictures, and video. There are tools at the top of the box to help you add different types of content or help you with formatting.

You can also click Switch to plain text editor if you are familiar with HTML and want to edit the code.

In the body field:
Youtube and google video links are automatically converted into embedded videos."-FAQ

Any question I'll try to answer to the best of my knowledge.

Off Topic / Port Forwarding On A PK5000 Modem Help
« on: April 27, 2011, 06:21:19 PM »
I can't get it to work. Looked everywhere for a solution but nothing helps. I was wondering if anyone here knows how to get port forwarding to work on a PK5000 modem.

I'm trying to get Minecraft to port forward, but nothing works when I try to port forward, so it's not just Minecraft's ports. Modem's firewall is off, and I unblocked Minecraft's ports for my computer's firewall, but it still doesn't work. I am port forwarding port 25565 for TCP and UDP. I tried using a static IP. Nothing is working.

Please help.

From the guy that made QWOP comes GIRP. Basically you are climbing up a cliff and you need to press certain keys to grab rings and you continue until you reach the top.

If God created Man in his image, and Man evolved from monkeys, does that mean that God is a monkey?

Games / Burrito Bison
« on: March 02, 2011, 12:27:49 AM »
Kitten Cannon type game, but with upgrades like all the new ones.
http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/562620

"This simplistic game uses nothing more than the left mouse button. The goal of the game is to launch Burrito Bison and smash through the three giant gates to escape Candy Land.

You do so by bouncing on escaping gummy bears and gaining as much speed as possible. The problem here is being able to maintain the speed you gain! You lose it by bouncing on the ground (ouch!), landing on police officer gummies and smashing through gates.

After every run, you can spend the cash you've collected on upgrading skills and purchasing new types of special enemies. By buying and upgrading them, you make them show up more often during runs.

Each one of those special enemies are associated to a mini-game of sorts. Essentially, the mini-games ask you to perform certain actions with your left mouse button, and by doing so successfully, you gain more speed and/or height. So land on those as often as possible!"

Really fun and addicting.

Run Fast, Run Fancy

Fancy Pants Adventures is like a free running game. You run through levels collecting little swirl like things trying to get to the end while dodging spiders, sails, even fat mice with guns, while looking fancy in your pants. It's very basic, but very fun. currently there are only two game released, but the creator (Brad Borne) is working on a third one while will be on Xbox Live Arcade and PSN.

A bird of some sort that goes and attacks whoever you are aiming at, or around where you are aiming. Kinda like Bloodwing from Borderlands.

I have created a terrain build that contains the aspects of an RP minigame other than monsters (there are dragons but you can't kill them).
It has:
Mining
Woodcutting
Crafting
Selling
Buying
Exploration (of about 10 64x baseplates)
And most importantly, Falling Bridges

Uses VCE with Varlinks, Multiple IF statements, random vars, basic vars, and basic eventing.
Might use it as an app or something.
