General Discussion / Re: General Opinions on Private add-ons?
« on: November 06, 2013, 02:44:40 PM »
Only thing that should be private are things that have only one or no specific use.

For example, those bricks in the Titanic. They were only made for specific parts of the titanic and there aren't really many other uses.

Elm's trees, though, are very useful. They can fit in with many builds, look nice, and are trees. People could really use them and make awesome things, but because elm wants them private for some dumb reason, not many people know about it and will continue making builds that look pretty bad because of the default lego tree. People usually aren't trying to build lego-like, they are trying to build realistically. They want realistic trees to fit in, as well as other bricks that may be private that I might not know about.
I saw what you posted in the other topic and I disagree very much with what you're doing.
Releasing thing to the community that other people made without their permission is wrong. It's like going up to someone and making them share their toy even if they bought it or spent the time making it. They have the right to do what they want with it, not you. For some reason what you're saying pisses me off to no end.

I (personally) make mods to make people happy. I'll decide when I want to release them, not someone else.

Modification Help / Re: Open up webpage on client (Clientsided)

Ah, I get what you're getting at by convenience mod.
Yeah, that would be quite the security hole.

The other thing though, usually exploits don't come to light until someone actually abuses it. So I assume if it ever became a problem, it could be dealt with.

There is a crap-on system for a reason.
But who puts a function that grabs arbitrary links provided by the server? That's like having some sort of function that puts itself directly into eval for "convenience" albeit probably not THAT bad but close.

Why would you even need that functionality (to go to ANY URL from a client mod). If anything, the clientside mod should always use some sort of base domain (like example.com) and perhaps would only tell the client to go to a specific path in that domain (like example.com/bleh, the server would send the client "bleh"). Although there's always the chance for XSS if your site is also vulnerable to that and then someone could craft a link to one of your pages.

Without some sort of third party listener program, is this possible?

im pretty sure badspot had like a command list that stated what each command did

but even in that list the description was a joke
Yeah, it's in the Coding Help section in one of the stickies in a .rtf document.
All it says is something like silly Korean build or silly Koreans or something.

Off Topic / Re: So I just went to my first real -party-
« on: November 01, 2013, 01:28:27 AM »
I went to a party. I sat in a corner babysitting some drunk girl till I had to drive home because I was the designated driver and I don't drink. And I got hearing damage.
Weird plot twist ending when me and some indian dude went looking around the fraternity for another girl that came with us and he's drunk just going into every room saying "Alright, we're looking for ____. I'm not trying to rooster block anyone or anything but we gotta leave. Does anyone know where she's at??"
We found her later getting her coat and somehow like missed here 4-5 times.

My takeaway, parties suck :P
Hope yours was fun though besides not doing anything at it :x

Does anyone know it's actual purpose in Torque? Is it used for character set things? Is it just some legacy function?

Has anyone ever used it in a mod? (I'm just curious :P )

cigarettegits who think its a big deal that I bring my mouse to school
O shii, I remember bringing my headset back to go to a computer science camp back in like middle/high school when everyone played CS 1.6 in a huge computer lab at the end of the day for like hours. The smell of that building still brings back so many memories. Good times, good times.

Off Topic / Re: Lucid Dreams?
« on: October 31, 2013, 01:30:48 AM »
You would, but all hallucinations. You can also see other random stuff and you wont be able to breathe or move for a brief moment because your Brain is still in a state of sleep. If you need to get out of a Lucid dream, hold your breath. It'll send your brain into shock (Not the dangerous ones) and wake you up hopefully.
Isn't breathing involuntary though, to some extent? I'm pretty sure that if you wake up in sleep paralysis you won't necessarily not stop breathing for moment because it's an autonomous function of the body most of the time. Of course, if I'm wrong, you still get that shock you mentioned.

Sleep paralysis was just motor function of the body so you don't move while you're in REM sleep, and certain people have a disorder or something by which this doesn't occur and they literally flip out in their bed (standing their body up, falling off into a wall, knocking stuff over, less like sleep walking more like moving in your dream actually makes you move in real life). It's not like your body stops breathing while you're asleep / in sleep paralysis and when you wake up you start to breathe or something again.

That was my understanding?

General Discussion / Re: Post/discuss your most favorite server ever.

Feline (Themosticles) did a huge poll on this.

My favorite would be anything by Mr. Wallet. The coolest things I've ever played were by him. I remember playing RoB and the political simulator he made. So fun

A record, that must be broken :o

I don't think the Blockland community is ready for a wiki.

Help / Re: blockland affecting computer preformance
« on: October 27, 2013, 06:55:34 PM »
i run in windowed mode, and it only starts after i alt-tab back into blockland
Certain games become unstable after alt+tabbing on certain platforms so it might just be a problem with your combination of hardware, drivers, and software. I remember I had one game that would turn completely white and I would have to restart if I alt+tabbed. I honestly can't really think of anything that might cause this as I've never had this problem, especially since you're using windowed mode.

Help / Re: Why am I getting emails from Forums?
« on: October 27, 2013, 06:52:43 PM »
In gmail, report one of the messages as Spam. It will ask you if you want to Unsubscribe. Say yes.
NOTE: Once you do this, you will not receive messages even if you re-enable.
It only asks you if you want to unsubscribe if gmail detects there is an unsubscribe link (which are usually found somewhere near the bottom in fine print) in the email.
If there isn't one, it literally just gets marked as spam like other emails. This would probably happen for the BL emails considering they aren't subscriptions but notifications.

Well, first thing, try updating your drivers. The current version seems to be 13.9 and you have 12.104
http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop?os=Windows%207%20-%2064 (I believe this is the right one for you but it's prolly best you go through AMD's finder yourself).

Second, are you running fullscreen or windowed when you alt tab and then proceed to do other things. Also does it only start to lag after you go back into blockland after alt - tabbing once or a few minutes after your first alt - tab without returning to BL?

Modification Help / Re: forget this

Well, I can't see too much wrong with it at first glance. Try putting an echo in the function in event script to see if it even gets there. Start doing some debugging and tell us perhaps what you find out?

EDIT: Looked at the suggestion & request topic. You need to chill out an take a step back. Coding doesn't always work the way you want it to but that's just the life. I've had multi day problems that should have taken just minutes to fix. It happens
