Games / Defcon on the DS.
« on: April 20, 2009, 04:29:43 PM »
http://forums.introversion.co.uk/defcon/introversion/viewtopic.php?t=2006

Not many people hear have probably played this game but it is rather worth it. Anyway, it is rather old now but it is being re-released on the DS some time this year. It's going to be the first new DS game I have bothered to buy in a while (I rarely use my DS actually) even though I already own it on the computer so that shows how good I consider it. I just wanted to start a topic about this so that others could experience it's glory once it come out.

For all of you who don't know what Defcon is you can go google it. Include the words introversion and mass genocidal thermonuclear war game to help narrow the search.

I live in Canada! Does that make me instantly eligible to find a wealth of grotesquely beautiful picture opportunities? Damn, I need to get outside more. Maybe get a camera as well. In all seriousness my area would have a few nice pictures but not many. CURSE YOU OTTAWA FOR YOUR NONPICTURESQUENESS!

I have one of those. Use it to chip the ice of my steps in the winter! Not really, but I saw that picture before described as the light weight Canadian ice chipper and another picture that was even bigger with more stuff attached called the medium ice chipper. The large ice chipper was Chuck Noirs.

I'm still not sure if I'm in this thing or not. I just started making models again since around three months ago when I started on a large project but never finished. I think I fixed my exporter shading problems but I still haven't tested.

My brother had to get it off ebay because there were no copies in all of Ottawa.

Aparently it is the number one played Valve game. There is a chart some were of Steam user activity and it has way more players than everything else.

I was actually going to the dwemer place to loot for my financial quest for the sword. The puzle box was just a side thing I was going to do when I got there so I didn't bother starting the quest.

Don't forget to add it to the map. Don't forget to add EVERYTHING to the map just for the hell of it (like me and wedge). It will be fun to look back at this later and see if any one got us enough money to steal the sword and then pay off the price on our heads. Just don't attack the gaurds when they chase you and run straight to the guy in the basement of the theif's guild.

Try my save to see if it works fully. All I really did was levelup, steal a bow and arrows, complete two quests, and locate one of the strongest swords in the game (I marked of the locations on the map). I said in my log (in the zip on mediafire) were the sword is and most of how to do the quests so if you can't get my save to work you could at least refinish what I did on wedge's save.

Wait, whaaaaa? I forgot about that! Oh well I don't know if I have time to finish this tonight and I don't get back tomorow till after the limit. I'll just post how much I have done by the end of today if I have time to do much more before I have to go.

Edit: don't have time to finish tonight and I don't want to go over 24 hours so the following zip has all the pictures, my log, and the save. When you first start playing it if any boxes popup just hit yes to continue on all of them (the game will fix all the incompatability automaticly), but if any of the boxes come up after later loads I think that it may not work as well as it should and Wedges save should be used again and my save should be ignored.

All you have to do is press "yes" every time it asks you and the file will correct itself. Ok I'll try this out but I don't know what we are doing. So we are going to play theif guild?

Edit: I'm making a log and taking pictures but I don't know if it will be 100% glitch free if any of you try to open the save. I will continue anyways because I didn't get any glitches and I know that instaling a exspansion won't break the old saves so logically playing the save (even though I had to fix it to work for me with out bloodmoon) on a copy with bloodmoon should not glitch at all.

Edit:Expect it in a day or two.

I'm confused right now. I was kicked out for not haveing Bloodmoon but as long as we aren't a werwolf yet and don't own any bloodmoon specific items I can still play. Just for the hell of it I'm going to download the save and mess around. Screw you guys too.
