Games / Chivalry: Medieval Warfare - cakey made videos oh god
« on: November 23, 2013, 07:33:06 PM »

Based off the Half Life 2 mod made by Torn Banner Studios, Chivalry: Medieval Warfare is a multiplayer medieval combat game designed by the same team, utilizing the Unreal Engine. The game was announced under the name Chivalry: Battle For Agatha on May 20, 2010, but was later changed to the current title. Chivalry was successfully funded on Kickstarter on September 15, 2012. On September 20, 2012, a trailer was released which revealed the game would be released on October 16, 2012. Torn Banner confirmed that the game would be exclusively PC, but may bring it to consoles if the demand was high enough. As of August 2013, the game has sold 1.2 million copies.

Chivalry: Medieval Warfare primarily utilizes melee combat through 37 different melee weapons across 4 unique classes consisting of swords, axes, maces, hammers, pole arms, spears, and flails, carried out from either a first person or third person perspective. While much of the combat is melee based, the game also feature ranged combat carried out through 13 ranged weapons across, again, 4 unique classes. These contain bows, crossbows, javelins, and various throwables. The game also features siege weaponry. These weapons cannot be applied to your loadout, they're found stationery on some maps that anybody can use. These include ballistae and catapults to fire at enemies, and boiling oil to pour onto them. There are also siege weapons that you don't use, but must push to a certain point to complete the objective. These consist of a battering ram or a petard to knock down a castle gate, and a corpse wagon to poison the defending team's aquifer.

You can purchase Chivalry: Medieval Warfare on Steam for $24.99 or your regional equivalent.

I've been on Blockland for over three years now, and on the forums for over two, and I want to share what it's been like, so here's the story. If any links don't work or don't lead to where they're supposed to, let me know.

Incoming wall of text, folks. Brace yourselves.

Let's start when I was nine years old. I was watching DominicFear's "THE LAZER COLLECTION" on YouTube. I was looking through the related videos, and I found The Lazer Collection ( In Blockland ) by xC3110x, or Eksi, as most of you know him. After that, I started looking at more videos of Blockland. It looked like a really fun game, so I asked my dad to buy me a key. I played for a few years purely for fun. A small period of time later, my parents were divorced, and my dad bought a separate house. I went to my dad's house every weekend. I still do. But back then, I didn't know you could use one key on multiple computers, so I asked for another one so I could play at both houses. This plays a big part later.

A while later, when I was more intelligent and connected with the community, I created a forum account called MrMcCakey in February 2011, but I didn't post until roughly four months afterwards, in July. I started using it when an old friend of mine by the name of Hardy619 created a clan called Brick Flicks. I wanted to interact with it more, and I remembered MrMcCakey, and I made my first post in the Brick Flicks topic. I didn't think I would use my forum account for much more, but after a while, I had discovered the insanity of the Off Topic boards. I took a look inside them, and made a few posts. As soon as I did, I couldn't stop. I posted every day and every night. I needed to post, all the time. It was an absolute blast. However, back then, I posted for fun; for a thrill. I thought of it as just a way to shear off boredom. I did make some very close friends off the forums, but that's it.

But that all changed when I had encountered a very grim chapter of my Blockland career - when Lando The Climber hijacked MrMcCakey.

It all started when gullible and moronic Cakey decided Lando could be trusted when he sent me a java application that he claimed was a game he made. The next day, a gay research photo opened up in my browser out of the blue (I can't remember what it was called, it was "gitsuh" or something). Shortly after, a chat window opened up. It was shaking and I could only close it by opening the task manager and killing the application. Talking through it was somebody insulting me and typed purposely terribly. I assumed it was Lando from the very start, but I was always bad at making wild guesses like that. I was in a Steam chat with Lando at the time, and he made a post with a massive furry research picture in the pony thread. Immediately after, he told me about the post, not giving away that he was the one that made it. At this point, my heart was pounding. With the little time I had before I was locked out of my account, I made a thread saying I was hijacked, and any suspicious posts coming from MrMcCakey weren't from me. But eventually I put two and two together, and I figured out Lando was hijacking me, and I was so pissed. I confronted him about it, but he kept denying it.

Shortly after Badspot banned MrMcCakey and cleared out the disgusting posts that Lando made, I got a Steam message from a close friend I made during my time here on Blockland, by the name of Zealot. Some of you think of him as an annoying troll that ruins the game for everyone (though he hasn't done a whole lot of it lately), but I think of him as a companion in marriage. Anyway, he gave me the full story, which I don't remember completely, but I'll say how I think it went.

The java application was sent to multiple people, including Zealot. He was smart, though, and he checked the contents of the application to see if they were dangerous. Lando also sent it to a forum member named Frontrox, which most of you know. He passed it on to more people, not knowing it was a dangerous program. Anyway, once Lando had access to my computer, he got access to my Minecraft password (which led to me buying a new Minecraft account -.-), which happened to match with my forum password. He got on my forum account, and stuff went down. MaroonCacti and Tømpson aided slightly, but they eventually let me know and apologized, so we're cool.

Zealot created a drama topic on Lando for hijacking people's accounts, which includes Steve5451, me, and perhaps a few other people I don't know the names of. Here's where stuff gets sentimental. In the topic, there were numerous posts showing concern if I was gone from the forums, and that really touched my heart. Obviously I was going to make an alt, but how, you may ask? Remember the second key I talked about earlier? I remembered it. One thing led to another, and I had access to it. I created a new account called Cakey and applied the key to it. As soon as I made a post, I received PMs and Steam friend requests from numerous people. Of course there were people who thought I actually made those posts myself as a forum Self Delete, but honestly I just laughed. Anyway, everyone's concern for me made me think I was worth something to this community, like I deserve a place here. Regardless of the events that day, I was very, very happy.

That being said, I want to say something that absolutely every one of you are able to hear, whether you like me or not. And when I say everyone, I mean everyone.

Thank you so, so much.

You guys are absolutely great people to be around, and you've created a great chapter of my life that I won't forget. If I've said anything bad about you, forget about it. If you don't like me, whatever - I love you, and I mean that. I probably can't fit everything I want to say in a single post, so I'll just emphasize this: Thank you.

Live forever, forums. Live forever, Badspot. And most of all, live forever, Blockland!

Yes, you read correctly. But let me explain why I want this.

If you have textures with glowing lines, such as the default...

The shaders make it glisten if you face the sun.

However, with something like Squideey's textures...

They're just the same, boring shade. You can see this for yourself.

If this is possible, that would be awesome. I probably wouldn't even mind having to make them myself. If they exist already, that's even better.

not even sure if it's possible but if it is, I hope one of you fine gentlemen could do it for me

thanks
