Works for me. Totally separate from my Google Account. Appears everywhere my Google Account picture would have but didn't replace it for everything else.

EDIT: Also, my email address and real name don't appear anywhere either. Just my username.

And here's a thread that contains basically everything that can be used with your phone in terms of ROMs/kernals/etc.

I started writing my post when Trinick's post was still the most recent one. I apologize for any redundancy I've caused.

You're upgrading your phone's OS to a rooted OS. It was a comparison that you'd understand.

You don't know what you're talking about.

When you root you don't change your OS, rooting is simply giving your phone access to files that were previously read-only. That's it.
Furthermore, I believe you're referring to firmware not, "operating system." Android is the operating system; when you flash custom firmware you are changing firmware versions. The operating system is going to be Android regardless of what ROM you use. An example of switching your OS would be somehow going from Android to iOS.
Do some research before you waltz into a thread acting like you're an expert on the subject.

Now to answer the question at hand

I'm going to assume 100% that you're on Gingerbread, which means one click rooting will not work since Google removed the rageagainstthecage and Zerg Rush exploits. You're going to have to flash a custom recovery (unless you're on a locked recovery like I was, in that case any guides you find will give you the extra steps) then flash root in your new custom recovery.
Flashing your custom recovery will be achieved through either Odin or Heimdall, both of which have one-click versions in most cases. Odin is a very good way to brick your phone (make it useless) so you must use it with caution and follow the step-by-step instructions as carefully and precisely as possible. Samsung phones are pretty much unbrickable now with the existence of jigs but that's a whole other story, the point is don't give yourself the headache of unbricking.

There's a forum called XDA that I highly recommend you look up, they will have everything you need to get started if you choose to. Hope I helped.

Pretty damn good, way better than I can play

Lolwtf is up with that guitar

And you really need to get a better audio recorder. Honestly, dog stuff sounds better than that. I can hardly judge (or hear) what you've played.

Thanks. Which one? What's wrong with it?
Going to do one a bit more proper next time, part of the problem was recording everything at 3 in the morning lol.

Wow, don't need to be a richard.

Plus it's not Garage Band, I use Reaper and I don't understand how my 8 string is, "unnecessary."

Copy and pasting the description from YouTube cause I'm too lazy to reword it:

Quote from: Me
I apologize for the absolutely dog stuff audio, the on board mic in my webcam just decided to not record anything right in the middle of doing the first take. My condenser mic picked up way too much bass and I didn't feel like loving with it so I ended up using a Guitar Hero microphone. The audio turned out really quiet so I had to boost the volume of the video, resulting in stuff sound quality.

Anyway, now that I've gotten that out there:

This is the first in a possible series of studio updates for my next album, "Separation Anxiety"
I hope to see a release in 2013 but there's no telling when I'll actually manage to finish writing it. I also hope to have a special guest perform vocals with me on at least one song (more guest vocal spots are welcome) but we'll see how that turns out.

Spread the word.

I'll be releasing a single once the album is about 75% finished. I currently sit around 35% just cause things need to be re recorded and a few songs need to be finished.

vh the customization is actually pretty awesome with jailbreaking
@OP: I'd get a Note II

I had my 4th Gen iPod Touch jailbroken and there was absolutely nothing interesting to do with it.

Let me lay it out for you since no one here can say anything else other than, "iPhone is stuff," or, "iPhone isn't stuff don't listen to them."

iPhone:

- Lots of really cool apps
- iPhone 4/4S are as fragile as a newborn baby but the 5 is very tough and resilient to drops
- Very smooth and very quick UI. Navigation is usually seamless and effortless
- Extremely large selection of cases
- Tons of awesome accessories
- Almost no carrier branding, which means no bloatware
- Pretty small: only 3.5" screens and 4" for the 5
- Almost zero customization without jailbreaking, and even then it's not much
- No way to adjust the way the phone actually runs for performance or battery life improvement purposes
- No selection of hardware to choose from, you're buying an iPhone and that's that
- Proprietary charging port means if you don't have an iPhone charging cable you're forgeted
- No Flash support
- No microSD card support and non-removable battery
- Cannot replace core features like the keyboard or lock screen

Android:

- The Play Store has just about reached the same amount of apps as iOS, though admittedly, there is more bullstuff broken/useless apps on Android than iOS
- Hardware of all shapes and sizes. Huge screens, better cameras, better processors, different models and colors, etc.
- Total customization, you can change literally anything you want (including very core features via rooting) such as the keyboard, lock screen, phone dialer, etc.
- Large variety of ROMs to choose from (if rooted) that all offer different features and themes
- CPU and voltage tweaks allow you to control how the phone performs and how it utilizes the battery
- Flash support
- Usually have the option of buying bigger and better batteries
- 99% of Androids use micro USB cables, which means they're cheaper and easier to find if really needed
- Android can be pretty slow and laggy, especially on lower spec'd phones. Not as stable as iOS.
- Not as many options for accessories
- Android phones are always getting one upped constantly, this can cause buyer's remorse in a lot of people
- Android can be confusing at times
- There are cases of apps that just don't work on certain Androids, even if they're the exact same phone. Some developers will even stop supporting your phone entirely
- Lots of carrier branding and bloatware
- Updates have to pass through the carriers first, which means extensive delays on updates and inconsistency across phone firmwares
- Androids have a reputation for failing hardware, which makes warranties kind of important and thus makes the phone more costly

The most important thing of all is how each phone feels to you. You need time to play around with both to see which one feels right. Android can piss me off more than anything on earth when it acts like a handicap, but I'd take it over an iPhone any day just cause it's what I'm comfortable with.

EDIT: I didn't mention Windows Phone even though I really really like it cause it's basically just an iPhone with a much more pleasing interface and far less apps.

I absolutely love my GS3 and I'd recommend it to any and everyone. If nothing better has been announced or comes out before then, I'm getting a Note II with my upgrade next year.
