Off Topic / is there any good screen recorders that are free?

i tried unregistered hypercam 2 and the videos always had 15 fps (it was recording perfectly but the video was bad)
i tried fraps and it can only record games and it was slowing my computer down
is there any free screen recorder i can use?

i don't want to unistall because it takes alot of time installing

my mom lives in new-brunswick while my dad lives in quebec
my dad said that there are chance that my mom will move out to quebec next year

i stay with my mom on school time and i stay with my dad in the summer vacation
