Beta Protocol
(Plan B for space travel)

Prologue
In a distant future, humanity reached to the stars and lifted off into a new era. The nations of the world giving up there differences began to work together to colonize the universe. On the first trip through space, the starship Poseidon makes it's journey through the Delta IX sector. High hopes were cut short when the ship never came back to the home starport. Another fleet years after were sent back over to Delta IX, they seemed to have found the starship Poseidon, but their communications were cut short. The United Nations Starship Co. believes that the ships were raided and go with plan b and send a peacekeeping force to deal with the problem. ARE YOU A BAD ENOUGH SPACE MARINE TO SAVE THE STARSHIP POSEIDON?

Gamplay
The game is played much like any table top RPG, combat is based off of stats and a roll of the dice. Stats are as follows, Strength, Endurance, Agility, Dexterity, Intelligence and Charisma. Strength determines your melee power when attacking with any melee weapon. It also determines passes or failures with certain traps and events, same goes for the rest of the stats. Endurance is your constitution, it determines how much health you have. Agility is your ability to mive around with ease and move fast. High agilities allow for a much higher chance of dodging attacks. Dexterity is how well you handle any ranged weapons and adds to accuracy. Intelligence determines how well you can use energy weapons, do first aid, and research. Charisma affects your disposition to NPCs, you can barter better with them and convince them better than those with lower charisma. For story telling purposes, new features will be introduced along the way.

Off Topic / Quite a way to start off my second year of Computer Technology
« on: September 10, 2014, 04:26:53 PM »
So this year I started network technology through a local CTE program with the Board of Cooperational Education Services (BOCES). So everything started off pretty normal, except for one thing. We had no towers on our classroom tables. We found out that our teacher tested two and found out they wouldn't turn on. There were also other towers stashed underneath a table. So we got the two to work, we then found out they were passworded with a password our teacher never knew about. So we decided to work on the computer lab that we worked in last year. To our suprise, we couldn't connect to the internet with some of them. Our teacher got fed up with everything and decided to tear everything apart and start fresh. So after some days of dismantling we've gotten to the bare bones of the place. We also found out some computers cannot connect to the local DNS, so students can't use domain names to connect to websites. Overall, this experience has been quite frustrating and we believe it was set up by the previous teacher that original taught us last year to test the seniors.

So this year should be fun...

What is this game?

Rise of Nations is a Real Time Strategy in which applies military, economy, and diplomacy in its gameplay. It's like if Age of Empires, Total War, Civilization, and Command and Conquer all got blended together into one game and made this beauty and masterpiece of an underrated game.

General Discussion / Project: VR Green (Early Alpha)
« on: August 03, 2014, 05:11:27 AM »

What is "Project: VR Green"?

Project: VR Green is a theme of maps and gamemodes inspired by the MGS VR training maps. In this "virtual reality" there are several maps and scenarios that pertain to the story of the virtual world.

Story

The virtual world of Project: VR Green is a highly sophisticated virtual reality systems for the network of all of NEXUS's servers. Many people on the grid are databased into the records of NEXUS, a data security firm that has been ensured with protecting the world's sensitive files. NEXUS has remained the sole keeper of every single sensitive file for approximately 50 years. Unfortunately, interlopers of the rebel faction, DECRYPT, have been tampering with the network, ever since the new universal surveillance network went up. Hackers have jacked themselves into the system allowing them to form their own avatars on the virtual reality plane. The passing between planes has caused unwanted side effects to NEXUS. An elite team of VR experts have been called in to defeat the hackers' avatars and to protect all servers and data within NEXUS's system. With the digital war between NEXUS and DECRYPT in full swing, the end is near for NEXUS's fool proof system. It's time to end this fight, once and for all.

Temporal Trials Through Time and Space

We start our story in the quaint town of Hearthfire in the year 1850, the planet Solace and it's empires are in a golden and prosperous age. However, tensions exist between certain factions.

A young man by the name of Cipher is quiet and asleep. His room is a mess with all sorts of contraptions and machines; for he's a tinkerer and a scientist, one of the best ones around. His alarm clock goes off startling him a little. He pushes the sheets off of him and hops out of bed, well rested and ready for his big day. The constant research has finally come to fruition and he's finally discovered a piece of technology that will finally get him a ticket to total fame. Today he is going to showcase a new military technology that would revolutionize the way soldiers could fight. He liked to call it the EXO, an exoskeletal combat mech. He has the prototype waiting in the garage, sitting there waiting for his friend to pick it up for him. Before leaving his bedroom, Cipher goes into his drawer and gets his key fob for the EXO. "Can't leave without it", he says. He exits the bedroom and walks down the hallway and down the stairs to the main foyer where he is greeted by his mother. "There's my little genius!", she hugs him, "So did you get a good sleep last night". "Yeah, kinda anxious about today", Cipher replies. "I know you'll impress them, you always put on a good show...", she's cut short be the sound of the door bell, "Oh! That must be your friend Maria. I'll leave you too to get to your little expo". Cipher opens the door and Maria stands there. "Hi Ci (pronounced like "psy" or "sigh" without the emphasis on the h), how are you? You ready?". "Heck yeah, let's get the EXO out of the garage and on the trailer". Cipher opens the garage and Maria backs her truck to the mouth of the garage. Cipher hooks the trailer carrying the EXO onto the hitch of the truck and rides "shotgun" in the truck. They drive off to the convention center where the expo is being held. They drive up to the back of the building where they can easily get it in. Cipher gets out of the truck and hops into the EXO, powering it on with the key fob. He moves it in backstage and hops out. "Perfect, now here's your favorite part... talking to some old men about your projects", she says sarcastically. Cipher sneers and whines, "Do I have to?". "Yeah, if you want support. Now go out there and talk to everyone." Cipher walks out of the auditorium to the main hall where all the investors have gathered to view new inventions and innovations. There are a couple particular/outstanding people in the crowd that Cipher could probably talk to. One of them is Henry, also known as the "Bulldog". He's a rich nobleman whose family has practically kept this empire, Cyrannius, alive. He's upbeat and enjoys Cipher quite a bit. Then there's Elaine, an elegant but intelligent young woman. She owns Core Inc., a multinational corporation that owns most of the Cybernetics and Robotics research industry. But there is one last face that really stands out from the crowd, a peculiar hermit known as Myst. He's an eccentric whose name fits his behavior. However, he seems to take a liking to some of the inventions around the convention center. Who should Cipher speak to first?
