I don't really think the red scare was a bad thing.
After the fact it was proven that yes, communists really had gotten into government positions during the cold war.A strong authoritarian nationalist country can do great things. They are both extremes of the human condition, able to facilitate humanities greatest triumphs and its darkest cruelty. It's all about how you use it.

Hence double edged blade, it can be used as a tool of unification or a tool of destruction.

I think you're all too upset with Tony for no reason. He gives his opinions and while many may not agree, he still can post his opinions. I've never heard of this silliness before, since when have posting objectionable things been against the rules? I see absolutely nothing wrong with stating your opinion (even if you know not everyone will agree with you).

I support you completely, Tony and hopefully more people do too.

I'm fairly sure that stupid likes to flock together and support stupid.

lolwut? Nationalism is arguably the only thing that makes countries successful. If you don't love your country then what are you living there for? It has turned countries that were shambling ruins into world powers.

Nationalism is a sociopolitical double edged blade, don't argue that it isn't. It's a proponent that brought Germany to the top of the European powers, but turned it into a facist monster. Nationalism can also cause international disputes (ex. The Balkans) which usually blow up into violence. You cannot say that nationalism is the best proponent that causes success and growth, because the only factor that considerably holds that title now and days is economic strength.
