Rigel Kent Hernandez was a registered sociopath, and was well on a path of self-destruction far before any virus even existed. Wanted for murder, maiming, and public indecency, Rigel decided that it'd be a good idea to camp out in the hills near Green Wood. There, he poached and stole what he needed, and was generally ignored by the populace. A glass jar, completely opaque because of it being covered with duct tape is filled with eyes. These eyes were trophies of his misdeeds. Sadly, those were the eyes of normal people, just going about in their dreams, before an odd man broke into their homes, stabbed them, and scooped out their eyes with spoons.
Many people who knew of Rigel and his encampment just thought that he was some crazy homeless man. Some have gone up to his camp, complaining about their suspicions of him stealing things. Unfortunately for them, there wasn't ever enough evidence to arrest him. Others regarded him as dangerous, as he always had a large knife with him, and pointed it at those whom came close to his tent. Teens tried playing pranks on him, only to be running away screaming, men tried threatening him to leave, only to be sorely disappointed when Rigel made a sign that said "Property of the wilderness, go forget yourselves."
When the first wave of the infected came, and the town was in turmoil fending them off, Rigel was just watching from afar with binoculars. Staying in the mountains for this long, and surviving, he decided to stay put and defend the tent. Weeks passed, and his food stores were running low, or spoiling. Not many berries or animals to hunt, and the near-by stream became filthy. Only about 3 infected came anywhere near the tent during the duration of his stay, each of them were fought off easily enough. Non-spoiled food and clean water was needed, and his current collection of trophies was rotting, so he dumped them out, kissed them goodbye and decided to start a new collection of the same thing. So he drew straws to see who had to go to the town to get food and water. There was only one straw, and it was bendy.
What faction do you hope to join (if any)?: Unless you can count psychopaths as a faction, I don't think so.
I added a paragraph, and changed some things around in the other 2. I think it'd be interesting to have a pre-infection psychopath roaming about the city, threatening the safety of others.
