« on: February 22, 2012, 03:08:03 AM »
Can anyone explain this to me: http://goo.gl/KNWF8
DVI can carry audio, and has since 2008 with adapters. The actual interface DVI to DVI doesn't, however DVI to HDMI or RCA does as those support audio.

Your going to call me an idiot I like most of the features Microsoft removed in vista and then 7, I also have no way of modding the taskbar or the turn off/on menu or any of the other components, also I hate how pinning icons works differently when you open a window, I've seen tutorials about how to make it look more like xp but it just doesn't do the trick, I know there has been performance increases and whatnot, but I also dont want to upgrade because It would take moths just to get it to look like my desktop is right now and its not like upgrading keeps all the programs you've installed and all your files in the same place, most just make an oldfiles or XPsp3 folder and shove everything in there, also It would slow down my comp allot newer OS require more ram(or newer ram DDR3,DDR4) and newer processors to not take a toll on your build.

I don't have 200 or 400 dollars just to upgrade my computer and I would not loving buy a new one, I already have too much stuff on this one, mostly games.
That made absolutely no sense at all.
Also, just because it's your choice to stay with 11 year old technology, doesn't mean that you should force it on other people. It's not a good idea to stick with XP.

Also, with computers from as far back as 2003, I have installed Windows 7 and found even a dramatic speed up from Windows XP Pro. This is on like, a 1.8GHz AMD Athlon Venice, 512mb RAM and a simple GeForce 6200.

Its definitely a scam, just like suburb said,I say stick with xp unless you have multiple reasons to upgrade.

If its a gaming issue as in direct 10 or 11 not being able to be put in xp,there is an unofficial direct x10 port for xp.

I'm using it right now and everyday.

Wow lol. Just wow.

Do you really need Ultimate? I don't think you're an IT professional.
Don't just need/want ultimate if you're a IT guy. Lol.

OEM means it's one use, and is only for system builders/manufacturers. Retail has 3 uses and is less strict on where it is sold.
Although I still use OEM for most of my builds, it doesn't really matter TBH.

I prefer HDMI just because it'll carry audio as well as video
Good for TVs, but most monitors nowadays don't have inbuilt speakers, or do and are of very low quality.

I'm not posting this in the computer megathread just cuz.

http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/system/Gamer_Xtreme_2200/

Just tell me on a scale from 1-10.
Ew.....
3/10 for it's price.

Scratch that. How about this?
http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/system/Mega_Special_I/
Still, not a good gaming computer for the price. The rest of the system is good but the graphics card is lacking. The 550Ti isn't overly powerful. It's about a 6770, which is definitely mid range. Choose the 2500k instead of the 2600k as the processor and get a better GPU. At LEAST a 560ti or a 6870.

Also, what is your reasoning for not posting in the megathread? I don't often check other threads, and you get the idiots who don't know anything posting "DOANLOWD MOAR RAM LLOLOLOLOL"

This seems like a good opportunity to ask.
Is it true that VGA has better picture quality when it comes to color transitions?
I don't think so. I definitely prefer DVI in all aspects.

Actually, there are differences. For example, a 120hz monitor requires a DVI Dual Link cable.
I'm sure a google search would yield good results, OP.

Total Price

~$11,267.
Give or take a couple hundred. This price also includes rebates of about $160 but doesn't include the cost of thermal grease.

I'm not exactly sure how much more I can put in. Maybe a RevoDrive... However that would be super sandwiched between the 4 7970's, and would be in the way of a joining fitting.

Holy stuff you aren't realizing something

i didnt only buy it for its loving gaming ability, since that's all you seem to know.

i bought it because it's comfortable, has a very nice backlit keyboard, functions properly, made by sony & vaio which EVERYONE I KNOW uses and loves because the customer support is freaking fantastic

please just realize that gaming was just an extra little gimmick added
Wow, it's like arguing with a brick wall.
You asked me if it was a good gaming computer. I said no. The debate was about it's gaming ability. End of. I'm not arguing any more with you.

i mean, I know RAM is cheap as far as components go but there's a point where you won't ever need that much unless you're datamining like a dork or some debauchery like that
