That's what I do, except my second monitor is 1024x768.  My main one is 1440x900, I hope that I'll get a 1080p monitor one day and then use the 1440 for secondary stuff.

I've got a 1366x768 as my main, and a 1024x768 as my secondary, running off a HD5850.
It's quite nice cause they are the same height.

IMO, I like only one monitor for gaming.  I'm fine with a second monitor for other stuff but I personally wouldn't want to do the 3D vision surround gaming thing.

I thought that, until I tried it.
Also, if you don't like it, it's always nice to have one gaming screen and the rest for apps. As he'd have a really good system too, he could run his games in windowed and interact with those other applications easily.

Right click it in Steam > Properties > Game Files > Verify integrity etc etc.

You'll never hear anything better in your life.
Also come with a 2 year RTB warranty, which I had to take advantage of when the wire became frayed a bit. Not a major issue if you don't tug on it.
