Sounds like a dying PSU. Is it making any hissing noises?
The corrupt error message could be from the constant shut-downs where Windows doesn't get the pleasant shut down it always likes.

No. You just don't want to spend a million dollars on a GPU if your CPU can't compete.

EDIT: Got this case. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811156242
Great cooling for only 50 bucks. Side 80mm fan was broken though. :c I sent them an email. Hopefully they can send me a new fan. Anyway, do you think I can fit a 6950 in this thing? My borked 4850 seems to fit with plenty of room.
It should TBH.

I'd like to know if buying a laptop dock would be worth it.

I wanted to get a dock specifically for getting a better video card without potentially screwing up my laptop beyond repair, nothing else. I'd only use it when I'm playing stuff that tends to slow down, like Audiosurf (recently atually), Minecraft, and Blockland on certain servers.

Dell Latitude D630 (might be D630c?); WXGA+
2GHz Core 2 Duo T7250 (obviously upgraded, it apparently had a Centrino before I bought it)
2GB RAM
I'm not sure about this, but 384MB Intel GMA 965
Windows 7
They come with Core 2 Duos, so it wouldn't have been updated.
Also, yes you can get a dock, but IMO it's really quite complicated and not worth it. You spend a lot of money, the bandwidth is severely limited so therefore the performance isn't that good, then you've got power to worry about, and also the fact that your laptop HAS to have the right expansion bay.

Stop being an idiot. You post a build in gallery and give it out, that means that we don't have to do all the work.
That's the same as giving out a free highway without any roads on it.
It's his work, he can do what he likes with it.

Wait. Your saying that the more powerful or weaker a GPU is, it can hurt yo system?
What?

One more question, my dad wants me to ask.

Could i use the graphics card without the PSU?
Nope.
It will fry your PSU and GPU, if not your entire system because you'd be asking for at least double the power output that it would be capable of.

This doesn't have to do with computer buying, but my friend has a really cool Asus gaming laptop with a NVIDIA Geforce 9900 gt
He is getting an Xbox and if he likes playing on it more then PC, he'll trade me his Asus for my Macbook.
I was shocked when he said that, that would be awesome to get a gaming computer.
It's an Asus rog G71 I think.
9900GT seems strange. Probably a 9800GT.

Hey Altanore...

Many great memories, sorry i havent been on for ages, we moved house and had problems with internet.

Im looking forward to seeing the server online again.

Suprisingly even when the city reached 60k+ bricks i didnt lag in it.

Your former SA,

When i was little i carried around a staple and when i got free time i would scrape out some "white stuff" out of my tooth.  Wasnt till after when i noticed what it was.

Left me with a big hole.

I had this problem ages ago... For me it was Windows firewall having a spaz...

If you are running Windows firewall:

Start>Control Panel>Windows Firewall.

On the Exceptions tab, click 'Add Port...' and enter the details:
Name: blockland
Port: 28000
TCP/UDP: TCP

Do it again, but this time click UDP, see below:

Name: blockland
Port: 28000
TCP/UDP: UDP

While you are there, check to see if Blockland.exe is on the list.  If it isnt, click 'Add Program...' and search for Blockland.exe and add it.

It seemed to not matter whether windows firewall was on or off, but this fixed it.
I am not sure what to do for vista, but shouldnt be too different.

Best of luck.

I've always been helpful :P
