Games / Re: [MEGATHREAD] Fallout 4 || The Wait, the Wait Never Changes

In Fallout 1 you were just a vault dweller who was randomly selected to go out and find a replacement water chip to save the vault. Other than that, all the events in the game happened or were influenced by your actions. Nothing in the story was fixed set in stone and nothing was scripted.

You could A happen then have J happen because of L which then leads to Z instead of Y because you did X. Whereas in Fallout 3 B must happen because of A which leads to C then D. From D you get E or F.

i wouldn't assume anyone is a muslim terrorist??
you can, though, assume the region they're from by how they look
There are two things can apply to this argument. One is that looks can be deceiving. The Boston bombers for example don't look like terrorist material at first glance. Most American do not know what Chechnya is, if you asked them to point to it on a map they'd have no clue where to point.

however you did know, you'd probably assume they were refugees of a recent conflict.

The second thing we can apply is that you can't judge a book by it's cover. The student was muslim and looks Arabic. Because that, people thought he was a terrorist and as a potential bomber once the call was made.

So what can we learn from these two incidents. Well first one being that you can't always tell what is or what they are up to at first glance, the second being that they don't have to look the part to play the part. You follow?

513
Lets recap this shall we.
We have the 14 year old who comes from a muslim family, has an Arabic name, a dark skin tone, and is an engineering student. He also goes to school in Texas.

He brings he project which is a digital clock that counts upwards and is contained in a metallic suit case like the ones the terrorists use in the movies.

His engineering said that his project was not something to be afraid of, but no one took notice to his words since someone ended up freaking out and calling the police anyway.

The suit beeped a few times or was beeping and from the teachers view point was in the possession of a Muslim kid.

Said teacher was triggered by the beeping and the kid who made the device and called the police. Probably because of the stigma surrounding Muslims created by media coverage of the war on terror and the movie/TV's industry portrayal of terrorists.

Police arrive, they don't evacuate the building, they quickly determine the project is indeed a clock.

14 year old is either arrested or detained, reasons unknown. The rest is unknown.

People and the internet take notice, he's freed and he meets Obama and NASA.

This is where we are at yes?

they literally do tho, they were chechnyan. if they were a few shades darker there'd be no difference
So without any prior knowledge or history you have decided and confirmed that are extremists Muslim terrorists from Chechnya all just by looking a their faces and nothing else? Apparently if anyone can judge a book just by it's cover then why weren't they stopped sooner?

Do you see the flaw yet by the way?

514
ok you're just full of stuff now
Just so you know, I'm attacking your logic and reasoning. Here it would be outrageous to suspect a kid of such age as being a terrorist and he wasn't.

515
Well, if it was reasonable to suspect that they may have been a decoy bomb to distract them from the real bomb, why didn't they evacuate the school. Why was there no bomb squad or investigation present?

If they did feel there was a bomb threat, then they should have at least evacuated the school or called in somebody to deal with it. The probable explanation for why they didn't is probably just pain incompetence, but that's still a bad thing to have in a bomb response.
Which is what I want to know as well. Sounds more than reasonable to evacuate in the presence of could be bomb. Either they had really stupid and covert intentions, or they have a really bad policy and I'm leaning toward stupid and covert intentions.

,and there was no loving reason to suspect a 14-year-old with presumably a good record to make a bomb and blow up his school, the whole thing was a complete waste of time for everyone. These cops deserve nothing less to be a mocked for loving up this badly
You don't have to look the part to play the part. Just look at these two

They don't look like this

nor do they look like him

yet they pulled off the boston bombing. Kind of like the saying don't judge a book by it's cover.

516
please explain how this thing looks more like a bomb than a clock, harm
Look at it from a ignorant persons point of view, not a bomb experts point of view. Basically some one who knows nothing about bombs.

You are that ignorant person who watches way too many movies and too much news and you see a beeping suitcase with a digital clock thing wires inside of it, which also belongs to a muslim kid. Wouldn't you as that ignorant person be freaking out or thinking suspiciously of that suitcase?

517

note the lack of complex bomb wiring

note the lack of any compartments for the explosive compound

note how the cops didn't treat the bomb like a bomb and didn't evacuate the school or get a bomb squad

note how the kid wasn't given access to his phone call during interrogation

nobody would be loving handicapped enough to actually make a real bomb look like a stupid hollywood bomb with a countdown on it

plus, you know,

it'd be counting down

not up
with the current and recent events it was stupid thing for the kid to do

As the old saying goes if looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it's probably a duck. Teachers aren't expected to know what a real and fake bomb looks like. They just saw something that looked like a bomb and acted upon what they saw, not what they knew. Plus there is no standard for bombs. The bomb used in the Boston marathon for example was a modified pressure cooker in a box. Others might be a grenade or artillery shell that are detonated by a cell phone or garage door receiver. There have also been documented cases of having a fake decoy bomb placed next a real bomb. This is a serious field where information is usually limited.

As for the kid getting hand cuffed and taken off, the police have the power to fake or pretend arrest children. This is all done for shock value and their parents are notified. Basically the intent is to say "we could of have arrested you for a false bomb scare, but we didn't. So don't do it again." The whole not evacuating thing does set off alarms and flags which would lead to me suspect some issues. Sounds like their bomb response policy needs to be looked into if you ask me. Whether or not the school lied to the police afterwards and wrote it off as a prank to cover their as should be looked into as well if that was the case.
didn't the kid show the clock to his engineering teacher earlier in the day, and the engineering teacher said it was fine?
and if this was the case, then how come the office staff didn't inform all the teachers of what this engineering teacher said? Did the school just take his message and ignore it?

how the forget do they get enriched uranium if they can't even afford a leader who didn't come from the bargain bin family
backdoor deals with Russian and china? Their nukes have a really small kiloton which is disputed between 4 and 40 whereas the US has 200 KT nukes.

519
Let me ask you this, you are the police chief of anytown. You've seen years worth news from columbine, to various random bombings like the Boston marathon. You get a call from a highschool saying "We might have a bomb over here made by some muslim, get down here now".With that information what are you going to do?

Option 1:
Take it seriously: evacuate the school, send in the bomb squad to check and disarm a possible bomb and ask what the hell the kid was thinking. Then have money wasted on finding that the bomb is in deed a clock and having stuff thrown at you for detaining a suspect who turned out to be just some kid.

Option 2:
Or are going to ignore the call because you think it's a joke and risk an actual explosion going off. If your kid got killed in the blast, how would you feel if the police passed the call off as a prank? Plus then the news who be on the police for failing to stop a bomb, parents would be suing.

The police do not know every single detail for every situation as it is occurring. Everything has to be taken seriously until otherwise. It's the same reason why prank calling 911 is illegal, the same reason you don't walk to school with a prop gun and point it people, it's also the same reason you don't walk into a movie theater and scream fire. If you are fireman or a cop, you can't afford to make mistakes, second guess yourself, everything is serious business. We aren't psychics, we aren't god, we don't all the information or details.

also here is a real suit case bomb

just a clock right? or just a bomb? what do you think at first glance

Lets move on to the next group, the media which ranges from everything and anyone including Fox, CNN, RT, BBC, etc. All them have for years since 9/11 have reported on stories about evil muslim bombers for years and years. Plus there have been towns of movies and shows that have had muslim terrorists with bombs. Plus many of bombs in those movies and reportings are in suitcases just like that one. The media and movie industry created that stigma, not the police, not the government.

Which brings us to the next group, which is the school and the one who made the call. The ones who bought into the stigma in the first place and made the call. They should feel bad for buying into stereotypes.

The last person I want to mention is the kid. What happened to him is the product of stigma and reactions to real world events that have occurred. Yes he made a clock, but he built in a way that triggered everything in environment generated by stigma and past events that are still fresh. It would be taking a toy gun as a prank to columbine a few days after the shooting, or a flying a plane straight into pearl harbor right after the attack. Clearly there are better objects to house his creation than a suitcase, but he basically set him self up and the school took the bait.

520
Instead of bashing the police and dragging them through the mud for doing their job, why don't we go bash the dumbass who overacted, or the school who went along with the dumbass.

but nope, lets go bash people for doing their job

fairly sure the jsdf is in possession of defense weapons against missiles, and probably even more effective against north korea's
Forget JSDF, The ROKA will be the one doing the all the damage

We supplied them with Patriot to intercept low flying missiles. We have the THAAD for intercepting high altitude missiles and ICBMs.

In terms of strike capability they have the ROK Army has the Hyunmoo-1 and Hyunmoo-2 ballistic missiles, Hyunmoo-3 cruise missile, and the US's MGM-140 ATACMS short range ballistic missile.

Their airforce has the F-4, F15E, F-16, and has purchased the F-35 which means they have plenty of planes to drop bombs and launch missiles with.

Their navy has ships capable of launching the cruise missiles and anti-ballistic missiles.

As far as political correctness goes, the line has to be drawn some where in my opinion.

I remember 9/11, I was 8, and I thought "America, please don't over react." And guess what? We did over react.

Also, no political correctness.
Considering that we are the same age you probably looked at the news like I did and just heard about some planes running into buildings not really know who or why would do so a thing.
