Off Topic / Every headset I own just randomly breaks on me.
« on: July 17, 2011, 01:02:16 AM »
Ok, So I'm generally very good with electronics and taking care of them. But it seems like every headset I buy just randomly breaks out of no where. I used to buy cheap 30 dollar logitech headsets, so I figured that was the problem. But my last headset was an alienware tactx headset that I bought with my computer (yes I know alienware is overpriced herp derp). This one lasted the longest, It lasted me for about 9 months or so before one of the ear cups just stop producing sound. I don't understand why they keep doing this, I don't mistreat them at all, I use them a lot sure, but that shouldn't cause them to break. So does anyone recommend a brand of headset that has lasted them for a while? I can pay around $100, or more if I really need to. I want something that will last.

I am willing to trade it for other games on steam. To be honest I'm not entirely sure what game I want so make me an offer. My steam ID is MeltyGoblin so you can look at what games I have.

Off Topic / pc gaming spec question
« on: December 29, 2010, 01:15:15 AM »
alright so I've asked around a little bit, but haven't gotten a straight answer anywhere, so I figured I'd try the forums here. I got a new gaming pc a couple months ago,but I have noticed that there are games where I am well above the recommended specs and yet I still struggle to run them on high. Like for example, I just bought dirt 2 today on the steam sale, and its system requirments are

OS: Microsoft Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7
Processor: - Intel Pentium D 3.0Ghz or AMD Athlon 64 X2
Memory: 1GB (2GB for Windows Vista)
Graphics: ATI Radeon X1500 or NVIDIA GeForce 6800
DirectX®: 9 and 11
Hard Drive: 10GB

where as my system is as follows

windows 7 home premuim 64 bit
intel core i7 740qm
4 gigs of ddr3 ram
ati radeon mobility hd 5850 (yes my pc is a gaming laptop)

and even with these specs I can only run dirt 2 on the high settings at about 20 frames per second. (although with the motion blur and effects it is still very playable). I can run crysis on high but only at about 30 frames per second. and I can run just cause 2 on high but only at about 45 frames per second. less intense games like call of duty black ops, starcraft 2, and team fortress 2 I get a solid 60 frames per second on high.

my question is where am I falling short? is there something I can do to improve my performance?

« on: August 03, 2010, 09:38:14 PM »

Windows 7
Nvidia geoforce gtx 260m 1gb graphics card
4gb of dual channel ram

comment, tell me what I need to improve if anything

Off Topic / Amusment park stupidity
« on: June 11, 2010, 10:18:34 PM »
Ok so I work at an amusment park, and I think I may have found one of the stupidest people on the planet. I work on this ride called the racer, it's two identical coasters, just mirrored, that sit right next to each other and race. Now what most people don't know is that we have a camera on the lift hill because 99% of stupid things people do are on the lift hill, because they think we can't see them. So anyway, my friend is in the drive box looking at the camera, and some idiot takes off his seatbelt and starts hitting the other coaster train with it (on the lift hill they are side by side). We have to emergency stop the ride, and send one of the associates up to make him stop and put his seatbelt back on. So this girl goes up and tells him to stop and his first response is "you didn't tell me I couldn't do that." She about punched him. Of course we had security waiting for him, let's just say he's not coming back for a while.

Anyway, share your stories of stupidity.

I feel poor. I have a '96 neon, and I just installed a new radio. The radio is worth $200, while the blue book value of my car is worth $100. I now feel ghetto.

I finally got around to taking the test. That was seriously insanely easy. I live in ohio, and all they had me do was drive through this residential area. It was literally five minutes. But now I can finally make use out of that car I have.

It was like the most random christmas gift ever, but it's so much fun to play. He got it like 40 years ago, and hasn't changed the strings in about 30 years, I'm headed to get new strings tomorrow.

http://www.examiner.com/x-21818-Virginia-Beach-Conservative-Examiner~y2009m12d16-Second-grader-suspended-for-drawing-crucifix

The kid was asked to draw something that reminded him of Christmas and he drew Jesus on the cross, he was then suspended and forced to see a psychologist.

If you ask me this is pretty messed up, The kid didn't do anything wrong.
