remove all metals and ores and gems from tekkit
replace with TFC stuff
yay

Tekkit's other big failing is that it's actually a bunch of other mods and they often double up on things.

Redpower's Blulectricity vs IC2 electrics, Redpower Computer vs ComputerCraft

In the first case I'd like to see it cut entirely (I love frame motors but I hate having to lay all the different cables, not to mention the solar panel seems to be the only blulectric generator? I'd prefer the option to just not include it, given that the official explanation for redstone is literally "magic" last I saw) and in the second case, ComputerCraft wins out simply by not being a super low level wank-fest. It implements a simple to use language and doesn't make you forget about with hardware. It's about getting stuff done. RP2 Computer is just overcomplicating the matter.

Really though it wouldn't make sense to combine TFC/Tekkit. TFC is focused on the more primitive tech, the medieval/fantasy survival aspect. Tekkit stuff is literally the complete opposite, focused on the building aspect. They'd contradict each other.
I could see some simple stuff making it into TFC, but it'd be things like winches, water wheels and other simple motors for the purpose of functional design - gates, elevators, etc., but electricity? I don't think it'd fit.

Were I going to pack some mods together, the list right now would be MAtmos/Optifine for pretties, Redpower 2 Wiring, Logic and Machines; ComputerCraft, Balkon's Weapon Mod, Smart Moving, Double Doors, Fancy Fences, Useful Storage and Better Blocks & Items. Possibly Railcraft, I haven't played with it yet but it seems to add a lot of stuff that assumes you're using stuff like Buildcraft.

terrafirmacraft is better than tekkit IMO
I'm inclined to agree.

Tekkit is only building on the inherently not-all-that-interesting base game, TFC revamps it completely into something totally different. It feels very reminiscent of Haven & Hearth, really.

I get some lag some of the time, but it's really inconsistent so it's probably just regular old high resource usage woes.

Played some Terrafirmacraft today, too. Spawned in a hilly area, got like 7 natural copper nuggets and cassiterite from 30-ish rocks total. Then chested that, went out looking for clay, got lost for four days, still haven't found clay or my hovel.

~ADVENTURE~

Also chickens are underpowered, a WHOLE CHICKEN restores less hunger than a single steak and you get like 20+ steaks from one cow

Unless the server part of it is enabled, it shouldn't do anything anyway

Aside from the new animations, which will be weird without the serverside hitbox adjustments

Also redpower frames, just made a blast door with a simple control terminal secured with Reddy and aaaaAAAAAAAAAA why can't I stop it's like 8am

Welp, apocalypse confirmed

Played some tekkit

Done most of the IC low-voltage stuff, been coding for Computercraft for the last uhh

Uhhhhhhh

six hours
no seven
yeah seven hours

HEY i made a remote authentication system :D
It runs on a pure client-server architecture, ie one server serves any clients who are configured to connect to it
There's also an auto-config whereby it can be installed from a disk, and it will automatically detect a connected modem (and prompt for what direction your cable connection is in if you're not connected wirelessly) and even broadcast for any servers you're connected to, once you auth with a server it writes out the config and reboots the terminal automatically.
The terminal then boots into login mode, where it first attempts to detect the server, and if the server doesn't respond the terminal will time out and shutdown. Once you authenticate with the server, you're given full access to the terminal.
I'm thinking next I'll make a mail system, which will let you know about any new mail when you login. I also need to make your logins time out (so if you don't contact the server for a given period of time, the server sends a timeout packet to the terminal and removes your serverside auth) so you can't just leave stuff logged in, and...

Yeah Computercraft is fun

i never said anything about rtb

i simply said that i laughed when rub called it a quality add-on

rtb is good mod

i personally think the staff could use some work
laughed when someone said it's good -> say it's good anyway -> get banned from it -> delay your own stuff to desperately try to one-up it (hint: it won't work)

welp

That sounded unnecessarily snarky sorry

I didn't include the value because I can't remember it but it's probably just maxStepHeight knowing my penchant for forgetting things with obvious names

Arr ye beat me

If you saved a playertype and looked at all the properties you might have noticed there is in fact a value for this

Morality != Legality

I even said because ~morals~

I mean if I cared about the legal side of things I'd check up on any licenses that came with the game to see if second copies are legal (odds are, the license also covers removing the ROM from the cart so it's also illegal to rip it)
MORALLY SPEAKING - WHICH IS THE IMPORTANT PART, FRANKLY - it's fine if you have a copy of the ROM while also owning a legitimate copy of the game. You've paid for the game, if you want to play it elsewhere there's nothing wrong with that.
Uploading the ROM and thus enabling piracy however is a moral blackspot. For every legitimate downloader there's going to be tens if not hundreds of illegitimate ones, thus if you upload it (or allow it to seed from a torrent) you are still in the wrong.

Frankly, legality can suck my richard. I have enough confidence in my own moral compass to know if what I'm doing is wrong or right given that I know what I am doing and what it entails. If I don't have enough information, I would follow the legal advisory for the situation as a guideline. If I feel I have enough information to form my own judgement, I will do so.

If you update a file in a zip, then attempt to execute said file, it'll forget up

This is due to the resource manager caching where the files are in the zip, if the length changes it will read the wrong section of the zip and get an incomplete file, hence why this is necessary when working out of a zip

Code: [Select]
function _r(%name,%mode)
{
   if(%name $= "")
      %name = getWord($r_last,0);
   if(%mode $= "")
      %mode = getWord($r_last,1);
   else %mode = strReplace(%mode," ","");
   %path = "Add-Ons/" @ %name;
   if(isFile(%path @ ".zip"))
   {
      discoverFile(%path @ ".zip");
   }
   if(striPos(%mode,"c") != -1 && isFile(%path @ "/client.cs"))
      exec(%path @ "/client.cs");
   if(striPos(%mode,"s") != -1 && isFile(%path @ "/server.cs"))
      exec(%path @ "/server.cs");
   $r_last = %name SPC %mode;
}
$r_last = "Weapon_Gun s";
$ _r("Weapon_stuffAddOn","s");
$ _r();

Just because I don't have the necessary tools to rip the ROM does not mean I do not have the right to use it, I've never even owned a GBA but I bought a Fire Red cart because ~morals~ and I play it on my phone

There is no alternative way to get a registered domain name, ergo ICANN might as well be considered the law here, which is what he meant

You all loving suck at thinking if you didn't realize that

Also whoever was paying $5 a month for a domain is getting ripped off, I pay like $10 a year for mine, DNS from afraid

Totally possible, if you set up a heap of different day cycles and such

If someone wanted to take the idea, since I'm too lazy to make/tune day cycles:
At midnight, determine the weather for the day and swap to that day cycle/skybox.

Weather would be defined as current weather, new weather and a transition point. Such as clear to rainy in the morning, which would fade into rainy day cycle settings around the 0.3 mark of the day cycle, or rain to overcast in the afternoon which would be raining up until the 0.6-0.7 mark and then stop the rain, leaving the overcast skybox.

You'd do this so that instead of just SUDDENLY RAIN you could tune the environment settings to slowly make it more overcast, then at the 0.3 mark it swaps to the full rain skybox and starts the precipitation, etc.

The actual code is easy, mostly it's a case of making a heap of environment settings and setting them all up correctly. ie, a lot of monotonous busywork that can't really be made much easier by coding cleverness.

You can use Lugnut's (I think it was Lugnut's?) day cycle events as a code reference for firing something off at midnight, or any other time for enabling/disabling precipitation.
