Lua is terrible
Opinionated
Fix'd
Uninformed

Lua is pretty much as fast as interpreted languages get, there ain't nothing wrong with it. The only legitimate issue you can call that makes it "bad" as opposed to "lacking x feature that only one or two other languages have anyway" is the syntax.

Again, I might move this topic to the Minecraft Forums where it will be more useful.
This topic would never be useful. On these forums, everyone will vouch for Blockland. On the Minecraft forums, everyone will vouch for Minecraft. On the Roblox forums, you'll be banned and the topic will be deleted.
Anyone who even considers one being a clone of the other is handicapped. They all have their differences and it depends what you want from them.

Well, concerning Islam and women, mistreatment of women usually occurs as a traditional thing rather than a religious thing, which gets mixed up constantly. If you go to a place like Afghanistan, women are certainly treated differently than a place such as the west bank, even though both practice Islam as a majority. My mother is an equal with my dad, and he has never lifted a hand on her, which is the case in most marriages in my country as well. My point is, humans focus on differences because in this world it seems to be a constant struggle to be better than everyone else. Clashes are inevitable true, but violence can always be avoided and verbal debating is the best way to go with religion.
I guess that's true - but that tradition is, as far as I can tell, rooted in religion. As are a lot of traditions, unfortunately, especially the ridiculous ones. Still, for accepting something like that simply because of tradition or religion only reflects on you as a bad person, less on where you learned it from.

Madoka was unexpectedly good. It wasn't great but it was wrapped in all the packaging of something utterly loving terrible and it turned out to not be that at all. It's overhyped, but the hype really comes from how good it is compared to what it appears to be.

What's funny about many religions is that they have many common good traits and if only religious leaders focused on these instead of smaller differences, I believe everyone could coexist better.
The problem is that most religious texts conflict with other religious texts, and the "true believers" in a religion as an actual religion and not a set of principles by which to abide see others as claiming their religious text is the truth which is indirectly claiming that your religious text is false.

I see no problem with religion if it is the framework by which people are taught morals. I only object to religions with morally wrong content - such as the treatment of women promoted by Muslims. Even then, the person in question who believes that might not believe every part of it, and might reject the parts of it that are terrible. By acknowledging that I can accept that someone might believe in the core beliefs of a religion I think is abhorrent, but may not be a bad person themselves. It's all about personal beliefs, and it's often easier to say "I'm Christian" than describe every part of what you believe. It's like a musical genre - it's all about categorization.

The Vatican can go forget themselves, though.

Say what?
1.5 focuses on redstone mechanics, making redstone behaviours more consistent (rather than all different things behaving differently with regards to it) and making it a bit more complex with signal strength, and enhancing detection/interaction stuff for minecarts allowing them to hopefully take the place of things like Buildcraft/Redpower pipe systems which I think would be super loving cool

Not sure on the signal strength thing myself. I think it's a good way to implement detection - you'll be able to tell how much is in a chest minecart by its weight, which I think is cool, but I think it might overcomplicate some things. I think stuff like the Redpower integrated logic circuits would be a much better investment, personally. And the retriever/block breaker. And pretty much everything else, god damn I love Redpower.

Was that the thing you were say-whatting about or was I wrong

Though I guess what happens to her might take away from the adorable because tragedy

nah, philosophy is like science without any actual research. It's like, hypothesizing but not testing.
I'm into the philosophy of game design.

"waah waah i don't want steam users in my circlejerk"

The community literally cannot get any worse for it. You and yours are proof.

Anyone who believes it's bad for games or anything else to share cursory similarities like building mechanics needs to be shot anyway. It's this mindset that lead to patent trolling and all that's doing is stifling innovation (at worst, and causing a huge amount of unnecessary bullstuff at best)

But that's not what they said at all. What they said is that most of the processing (nothing to do with the rendering) is being moved off the client to the server. That's literally nothing at all to do with it.

Will mods like Optifine be added to vanilla?
Something even better.  Overall, the game engine is being simplified, taking most of the load off of the client, and having the server doing the heavy work, greatly improving SMP.
I fail to see how that answers or even relates to the question.

Man, every time I read about the mod API it's full of non-answers and forgetups like this. I'm pretty sure it's gonna turn out stuff simply because half the time they don't even seem to know what they're talking about.

That probably isn't possible. When he explained why you can't have two different kind of slabs in a single block, it came off that adding so much data wouldn't fit 4 bytes. But that is talking about a single block instead of matching up two of any kind, so... Well, point being, that sounds WAY too obvious a solution. There must be implications.
Well, I don't necessarily mean being able to combine different slabs (I'd love that, but that's not necessarily the purpose)

The purpose of this is that you don't really need to do anything to define a new stair or slab block - if there's a solid block, just create a new stair parented to it and that stair has all the solid block's properties and overrides everything back to that solid block.

So, instead of creating a NetherBrickSlabBlock class and copying everything that netherbricks do over to that - what tool to mine it with, its strength, explosion resistance, etc... and changing the render type to stairs, you instead create a new StairBlock object and give it the nether brick block as its parent. Then if you attempt to get the tool type, explosion resistance, etc. from that, it will actually return its parent's value. Essentially it just inherits everything.

Actually I really want to know how you even thought I meant having two types of slab in one block. I didn't even mention anything like that.

If I could have, I would have gone to minecon just to ask Jeb if he's considered moving stairs/slabs to generic functionality parented to another blocktype.

Then all you do is create the stair block with the actual material as the parent, and it has all the right properties (tool material, strength, etc) - could even have it automatically create crafting recipes. Same for slabs. This would presumably also make it easier to maintain the code for these - like slab and stair lighting.
