-stuffty currency chart-
So a single diamond is worth 20 bars
But nine diamonds in a block is worth 40
So you lose 140 bars in the process of crafting a diamond block, good job on this one

Non-enforced (that is, non-code or player-enforced) currency systems rarely hold up. Why? Because without anything to enforce the use of an arbitrary currency players will generally resort to bartering and trading what they each have and the other needs. This saves on the frustrating stuffting about that is caused by having to gather an arbitrary currency to trade. Not to mention, what if you need coal - you're gonna go digging around looking for gold so you can buy some goddamn coal?

I'd propose - and no more than propose - a point-based system in which each item has a generalized points value. Trades would generally be matching values on either side without any one item being treated like currency, but with players actually agreeing on what an item is worth. For instance:
Item
Points
Dirt, Sand, Gravel, Cobblestone, Wood Planks, Sticks (x2)
1
Cloth (white, grey, black), Iron Ore, Coal, Glass, Dyes/Flowers,
Hides, Sugarcane, Seeds, Redstone, Flint, Clayballs
2
Stone, Sandstone, Logs, Cloth (colored), Workbench, Iron Bars,
Gold Ore, Raw Pork, String
4
Gold Bars, Grilled Pork, Paper, Bucket/Water Bucket
6
Chests, Furnaces, Netherrack, Lightstone, Soul Sand
8
Lava Bucket
10
Diamond, Records, Obsidian
12

Any item not listed above is worth the sum of the materials it takes to make. So for tools:
Wood/StoneIronDiamondGold
Shovel
2
5
13
7
Hoe/Sword
3
9
25
13
Pick/Axe
4
13
37
19

That's 1 (for the sticks) + the worth of the material used * number of material used. Swords technically cost 0.5 in place of 1 (only one stick) but going into decimals just isn't worth it, so they're stuck with the hoes (oh yes, I keep my sword with my hoe at all time :smug: )

Well, That wasn't a very constructive comment, anyone who can help me play it NOW.
It was a perfectly valid comment, if not constructive because really there is nothing constructive to do with this game right now.

It seems 100% hit or miss for most people; my best friend can't run it at all (same as yours, and he's tried every possible fix for it, running as admin, messing with drivers, full reinstalls of the game) whereas at least with the demo, it runs perfectly for me. As he said patches are coming out almost daily so your best bet is to wait a week or two.

Plus, you can't really say that his comment was unconstructive when your post amounts to "it doesn't work, fix it" - we can't help with problems without knowing stuff like your hardware specs, OS (specially 32/64-bit). Not that it would help in this case, as far as I know, no real common factor has been found as to what makes it work or not work.

If you can't post in any of the other GW2 topics make this a megathread and hope it doesn't go down like the rest.

Also Guardian (at a glance) sounds overpowered, but the bonuses from the virtues are probably going to be pretty minor.

I'll probably play Warrior though.

I'm going to make it an AI for Blockland, so I will simply add a smiley with a moustache to the face. And, I'll think about doing the Australia shaped chest hair.
Widen the torso a bit towards the top and look at getting the moustache and chest hair on decal/face, that'd be p.cool

It's still not a loving good reason to ban me, it had nothing to do with glitches at ALL

I never said it had anything to do with glitches. Why should I need to write "USE YOUR COMMON SENSE" on the rules? That defeats the very purpose of common sense, the fact that I need to write it with the rest of the rules is a poignant reminder of the sad loving state of our society.

What

The hell

why did I get banned, it was pickaxes

PICKAXES

THEY COST NOTHING

no reason to ban me at all

Wonderful admins you have here, zack

Edit: Reason: Wonderful, and you thought this wouldn't get you banned why?
It was something in the vicinity of FORTY MILLION GODDAMN PICKAXES.

Hell, I don't even know how goddamn many because BOTH stacks were in scientific notation. Whether they cost nothing isn't the point, it's a loving stupid stunt.

Spoiler: I unbanned Jimmg. Reason being that the only reason he gets out of hand is because other people are just so twitchy (not saying I'm not or anything) and seeing everyone screech about him instead of their tiny gripes with the system takes a load off me as an admin and a dev.

It's also hilarious (don't forget that bit).

Also just for those of you out there who somehow not only missed these the numerous times you've been told, but also somehow survived to puberty without common sense:
- Abusing glitches will get you banned
- Extended periods AFK while mining/woodcutting will get you banned
- The above and spawning a brick over yourself will get you permabanned with no appeal
- In fact just spawning a brick over yourself for any reason will get you banned for at least eight hours
- "Begging for a fetch" is pronounced "Begging for a kick" in admintown
- Also the usual things like chat spam or giant red stuff etc

Bukkit lags for my server. A lot.

also "No mods." + "Using Bukkit" = contradiction!
Bukkit can preserve the original gameplay quite closely, which is I believe what he means.

Off Topic / Re: Reality as we know it is a huge lie.
« on: January 24, 2011, 05:55:09 PM »
If anything can be divided in half, then omnipotence can be divided by halves.

We have the ability to move ourselves and effect things we can reach in some way (as time is always progressing forward; nothing can be achieved in an instant) therefore we are potent, however we cannot effect things we cannot reach, we cannot move within an instant, for we are not omnipotent.

And it is by the virtue of not being omnipotent that we can die, as if we were omnipotent then it is guaranteed that no being would be able to will themselves past the fear of nonexistence (if we were omnipotent, we would know everything including fear and how bad nonexistence would be).
